great job becca!!! the looked like they were really enjoying themselves and amped up for the shows ahead of them. so sad i didn't get to see them before i had to be responsible and go back home for work. but next time they're in this part of the state!!!!!
5:50 Little factlet re Studio Ghibli: Proper Italian would obviously be a hard G, but for some reason Italy-fan Miyazaki mistakenly transcribed it into Japanese with a soft G, which has stuck ever since Therefore I'm never sure how to pronounce it when talking about it in anything but Japanese. I mean, I pronounce other words and names in Japanese media that are taken from (or at least inspred by) some other language as if the mutilation caused by forcing it into the constraints of the Japanese syllabaries hadn't happened, but usually they are approximated correctly, so unlike with Studio Ghibli "reverse-engineering" those is no issue. Same ('though now much more rarely occurring) problem with Code Geass. (Well, sometimes they use a Japanese pronunciation that is German or Dutch in origin but actually mean it as an English word; I'm pretty sure I always pronounce those in a proper English way.) Speaking of Japanese, it will bother me forever that the top third of the katakana on Olly's sleeves is hidden in all these SXSW videos. "Somethingsomething-d-wide"
