This song, and visualizer, are a response to an incident that occurred on April 8th, 2021, and a protest against the horrors that are perpetrated against baboons on the southern peninsula of Cape Town, South Africa.
April 8th, 2021 was the day the authorities killed Philemon, an alpha male baboon. Coincidentally, it was the very same day that his troop raided the house I was looking after in Murdock Valley, on the southern peninsula of Cape Town, South Africa. The fact that his troop raided the house on the day he was killed is part of the reason that his story has stayed with me.
