And the act of doing so will observably NOT cure your own troubled mind; it will push you further down into your own personal Hell. The only way to purge your demons from your own life is through kindness towards others. When you were a child you were the recipient of your parents' love; as a young adult your task is to extend that love to your family, friends and community. Do not blame others for your bad choices. THAT becomes a crutch which, over time, will be harder and harder to cast off, and walk without.

There were even jobs at the local burger joints to teach kids and help them transition to adulthood. They required parental involvement and lots of work. Today's parenting is lazy, dropping kids off and expecting someone else to instill values into your children. I know people have less leisure time these days, but I have recently seen single mothers dragging themselves to Scout meetings and making sure their sons became Eagle Scouts, so I know it is still possible. Just a question of priorities.
