Yeah I loved my 705, brilliant machine. the E-trac is twice as good, e-trac LOVES silver so if you go over silver it'll ring up loud and clear, I'm finding twice if not three times the amount of targets with my E-trac than with the 705, also it never gives false signals on the beach whether on dry sand or wet other than large iron which will give you an irregular false on most machines anyway. So if you're thinking of upgrading then I can highly recommend the E-trac.
If I had a signal that is low down on the pattern I will sometimes switch onto quickmask which I have completely open just to see if it is anything, I'll also pinpoint and remove a few inches of soil/sand just to see if it gives a better two way signal and better ID, I have had a few occasions when it's been something worth digging for but if after removing a few inches of sand/soil and it's still giving a bad two way or ID I'll just leave it. hope that helps GL&HH Paul
thank you very much. the important things to remember is use auto +3 and if after 2 minutes you're not seeing the sensitivity go above say 23 then change ground to neutral or difficult, basically the opposite to what it is set to. I really must do an update video as since owning the Etrac I've found out a few new tricks with it.
Thanks for the tips :) just getting to grips with mine... Where do you get the uk roam pattern? My etrac was second hand and didn't have the cd with it.
just search for 'etrac uk roman pattern' on google and you'll find it. I think you can download etrac exchange from the minelab site, etrac exchange is the software you use to link up the etrac with a computer. otherwise you could edit a pattern and notch out some of the bottom row where iron is and any iron left you'll hear when you go over it, a lot of people have nothing notched out (discrimed out) and just ignore any iron tones. hope this all helps all the best and good luck Paul
do you ever just run it with nothing blocked out and simply dig based on where the cursor is - I usually do that (though Im still using an explorer XS) - I always felt that anytime you are nulling out anything (and that is all the machine is doing...muting anywhere you black out on the screen) - you are missing out some of the mixed signals- true it does make a lot more noise...but if you are running ferrous sounds - most of the low ones are the bad ones - I always like knowing when Im getting

Hi Paul
I own a x-terra 705, and remember that you had one before the e-trac.
How more reliable and effective is the e-trac over the 705?
Hi Dan. Just wondering, when are you going to post that video about your camcorder competition?
at last, someone that explains things clearly, .love the video and have now subscribed
