The man in the middle is Papu father of my friend Moana, I went to Tahiti I had an issue with my airplane ticket and Moana kindly gave me assylum, they are beautiful people. One day Mamu prepared a traditional fafarú which I ate surrounded by Moana's family and friends laughs, after that Moana said that now I was his brother (you need courage for trying fafarú). David, Moana's cousin, took me with a tatau artist Henere for a tattoo. Before leaving Fenua Papu gave me his tahitian hat, I wear it proudly all the way back to my country. I keep in my heart that family, god bless them all!
Merci 🙏 pour votre témoignage pour le fafaru 😂 c'est dommage que vous n'ayez pas fait quelques pas de danse le "pa'oti" vous serez un vrai taata tahiti (un vrai polynésien.
The name of this drum beat is called Mangungu. Hitoto is a Cook Islands chant from the northern island of Manihiki. It was the introductory chant to the drum dance Mangungu or thunder that depicts the story of a storm/hurricane that hit the island in the 70’s. What the Tahitians call hitoto is what Cook Islanders refer to as “Mangungu.” Hitoto is the chant and Mangungu is the drum dance and also the title of the drum dance.
It has a nice beat and I can dance to it !!!(Remember that line? Dick Clark's American Bandstand) I happen to be looking for this or similar beat and was trying to identify it. 3-3-8 or 3-3-6 beat.
this is such a cool performance! I've gone down the rabbit hole of Toere music and I'm so glad I did!
