If you use channel lock pliers you can put the upper part of the jaws on the metal nub of the hanger while using the lower jaw to pull the rubber off. This method of latching on to only the rubber could easily damage it.
Excellent tip. I really don't wanna buy a tool which just does 1 thing and will only be needed once. I'm gonna change my mufflers to make my car louder and probably never go near it again.
when your a flate rate tech in a high volume exhaust shop time is money and this takes way to much time buy the tool there not that much . if your a diyer well then keep doing it your way

Nice tip! This helped me finally get them off after a half hour of struggling.
You saved my day. Good to buy the tool if available easily. In my part of the world, I can't get it easily. Thanks.
You saved my day. I can go on with my job. Thank you!
Wd 40 spray on the rubber then twin pry bars (back to back )to force them off, it's how I've done it for the last 40 years

Good video! Your nearside rear tyre looks a little dangerous. I 'am not sure what the tread wear limit is where you live, though :-)
Good spotting, you're right it needs replacing.
very helpful! thanks
You can cut it off with a blade if your replacing it.
Nice changing my fuel pump
If you had used channel lock pliers it would have been much easier.
