Hey - Great reaction! To reinforce what you've started to learn, The Warning are made up of 3 sisters from Monterrey, Mexico. They are Daniela (Dany) lead guitar and vocals (23 years old), Paulina (Pau) drums, 21, and Alejandra (Ale) 18, on bass. Their music blends traditional genres - like classic rock, hard rock, pop and grunge - and turns it into something familiar yet unique. Last year, they opened for the Foo Fighters in Mexico City ... which is where THIS performance was filmed - sadly just a week before Taylor Hawkins passed. And they’ve just finished opening for Muse for 4 nights in Mexico a month ago.
As for more of their songs, here are just a few recommendations off of their recent album called
"Error". "Error" (title track and Music Video) ... ruclips.net/video/DqPj-E_8f3c/видео.html
“Disciple” (Music Video - shared lead vocals between Dany and Pau) … ruclips.net/video/p9GcS8ptpCY/видео.html
“Money” (live performance as opener for Foo Fighters in Mexico City in late March w/ studio audio) … ruclips.net/video/vm78KpEw3uw/видео.html
"Choke" (Music Video and vocal showcase for Dany): ruclips.net/video/TlOy0XbFVlM/видео.html
“23” (Official Lyric Video featuring Pau singing lead. She has a technique that brilliantly conveys pain, vulnerability, isolation and desperation with every breath) … ruclips.net/video/wWW46SudR7Y/видео.html
They are very energetic performers and give 100% all the time, which makes the experience that much better. Enjoy your journey with The Warning. They have a devoted fan base called The Warning Army who will support your reactions.

Their lastest album called "Error" which the song you reacted to is on is also just spectacular. There is no skipping over songs on it. They are all special. They are incredibly accomplished as musicians, songwriters, lyricists, and performers. More of The Warning would be a great thing. @@bobcieslinski It gets better, actually. Lzzy and Arejay (the whole band, really) are big fans of theirs (they have been long-time fans of Halestorm). Lzzy gifted Dany a new guitar on stage in Dallas. She normally changes guitars for the song in question (Queen of the Murder Scene) because it's tuned differently, and she was expecting her tech to bring out another guitar for her, but he didn't. Lzzy stepped on stage and gave it to her in person. She thought Lzzy was lending her guitar to her. Nope. I'm not sure that that Gibson Explorer is the right instrument for her; it's a rather big guitar and Dany's only about 5'2" or thereabouts (6" shorter than Lzzy). Also, at a couple of shows, Arejay sat in on drums on Narcisista so Pau could front it (she's a dynamic frontperson when she has the opportunity, which of course is rare). He described her as the most insane drummer on the tour.
Three Days Grace, for its part, brought Dany on stage to sing one of their hits, Painkiller, several times during that tour. Their lead guitarist stepped in on another song (Choke), first sharing the guitar duties with Dany and the second time playing the entire guitar part after the intro so Dany could just front the song.
Muse has been an idol of theirs since childhood, so you can imagine how thrilled they were to tour with them in Mexico. Muse has enormous respect for them too. Ale accidentally fell on stage at one concert (tripped over something). Afterwards, Matt Bellamy took her aside to show her some things that went wrong; it sounds like it amounted to "this happens to all of us, kiddo, so don't worry about it, and you handled it just fine!".

You was right, I loved this reaction! You cant go wrong with any of their content Bob. 10 years worth of material, and the Bass Player Ale just turned 18. When you see all that they have accomplished already, you will understand why they are so loved, both as artists, and as people. They own that "IT" factor, like very few others. A good way to do that, is to watch the viral video they made for their family to see, when they was just babies, then revisited that same song last year. It is track 1, on LP 1, of Metallica's Blacklist LP. Do both versions of Enter Sandman, and see the change in front of your eyes, and ears!

Exactly, they use small doses of prog rock from time to time, here the change from major to minor, as you notice, and to this rhythm 7/8 and back… without making it sound complicated, love this! They often use elements of classic rock, punk, grunge too. Something for everyone! The riff is top notch! And as you say, a trio always needs a good bassist to carry the sound! These three sisters produce a wall of sound! Alejandra, bassist and youngest sister, just turned 18, snd they published already 1 EP and 3 full albums! This was from supporting the Foo Fighters in one of Mexico‘s biggest stages! They‘ll visit Europe in June, confirmed festivals in Germany and the UK! My chance to see them live! They have an awesome body of work. In this video they were: Dany, 22, guitar, vocals; Paulina, 20, drums, vocals, and Alejandra, 17, bass, backing vocals. Please check out some more of their work. They are uncompromisingly good on every song.

The Warning are three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico that started making music very young Alejandra (Ale = Aleh, not the beer. Bass, backing vocals and keyboard, the youngest- 18) and Paulina (Pau = Pow. Drums, backing/lead vocals and keyboard, middle sister 21) at 3 and Daniela (Dany = Dany. Guitar, lead vocals and keyboard, the oldest 23) 5, all learning classical piano. They got the video game Rock Band and fell in love with the feeling of performing on other instruments. Their father asked if they wanted to learn another instrument and the girls jumped at the opportunity and gravitated to the instruments they played in Rock Band.
They had been uploading their musical journey to RUclips for their family to see and had wanted to try and play music together as a band around 2012 and started rehearsing for a small performance for their school xmas show. Well They loved the experience so much they began learning and playing cover songs of hard rock and metal bands. One song in particular shot them into the limelight. That song, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica had gone viral (currently over 22 000 000 views) and had gotten the attention of Metallica, Dee Snyder and The Ellen Show! The Warning wrote, composed and recorded an EP called Escape the Mind in 2015 to experience that whole process and to determine what type of music they liked to make... Thankfully they chose Rock/Hard Rock! Ellen Degeneres invited the band to play live on her show, to which they accepted and played "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne, after the performance Ellen and Target awarded the sisters $10,000 each to attend Berklee School of Music in Boston, Ma. USA.
They performed a number of small and large shows afterward and began writing and composing new material for their first full length album "XXI Century Blood" in 2017. They supported this album with some very high profile gigs like opening for Def Leppard and separately The Killers for two shows each in Mexico. Also following other large rock bands in a couple music festivals. In 2018 they wrote and recorded "Queen of the Murder Scene" and released it in November of that year and have toured Mexico and South American venues.
In June of 2019 they released a single, "Narcisista". A scathing rebuke of their Mexican critics that had accused the band of being "Malinchista" a Mexican term used to call out cultural traitors, because the group has only recorded English language songs. Well this song is in Spanish and it is full of attitude and angst fired toward those critics. This was recorded live in June 2019 at Foro Didi in Monterrey Mx (their hometown) - ruclips.net/video/O7IAEhN4RMM/видео.html
The Warning is totally fan-funded through Patreon, RUclips and crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe and Kickstarter. They have turned down offers from record labels and talent shows like American Idol because they did not want to lose their control of their music, image and wanted to focus on learning. In fact in one interview with a record label they were asked if they would rather play to 12 people or 12000. Paulina piped up and said The Warning would rather play in front of 12 if it meant they would keep their integrity and could play the music they want to play, how they want to play... That is the most Rock n Roll quote ever!
So after a very successful Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a North American tour and to record a new album achieving their goal within 24 hours and surpassing that goal by 600%. Unfortunately the Covid-19 Pandemic forced the band to cancel their tour plans and postpone making their album. Their last live show before the global lockdown was March 14 2020 at the Vive Latino 2020 Festival in Mexico City. This did not stop The Warning from performing though, they played a full concert set from their basement studio/rehearsal space for free for their fans on RUclips and Facebook achieving well over 50,000 simultaneous viewers on March 25, 2020. They have since performed from The Warning Cave a couple more times including for the city of Brownsville, Tx. for the Fourth of July virtual celebration and later in the summer for a charity event with rock legends like Slash and Ringo Star.
On August 9th 2020 The Warning announced to their Patreon community that after seven long months of negotiations they had signed a five record deal with Lava Records, a label under the Republic Records and Universal Music family. During the announcement they reiterated their dedication to their own creative integrity and dedicated fans on Patreon and were able to retain both in their record contract with Lava. In Sept of 2020 The Warning traveled to New Jersey, USA to begin rehearsal and eventually recording of their third album. After three months of recording and a month and a half of mastering, mixing and editing the third album was completed at the beginning of February, 2021. All that remains as of 22/02/21 is the album design and artwork and logistics of the release which will hopefully happen by the end of 2021.
In March of 2021 The Warning was invited to cover a song from Metallica's eponymous 5th album (The Black Album) with Canadian Grammy and Juno award winning pop star Alessia Cara for Metallica's Blacklist album. A 30th anniversary celebration for the Metallica album. They selected to record Enter Sandman, a fitting song because it was this song that propelled The Warning 7 years previous into stardom. The Warning reimagined the song with Alessia and produced a fresh new feeling that goes above and beyond what others have done with the song...
On May 21 2021 they released the single "Choke" to critical acclaim ruclips.net/video/TlOy0XbFVlM/видео.html . Followed by a new release roughly every month through to Sept.
On October 8th, 2021, The Warning released six songs that were recorded for the new album on an EP titled Mayday with the remaining 6 songs to be released at a later date.
Starting on the 18th of Feburary 2022 The Warning started out on their previously twice cancelled North American Mayday Tour. Their forst show was on Saltillo Mx followed by a short set openning for Mammoth WVH in Las Vegas, NV and another short set opening for Sammy Hagar in Austin Tx at the SXSW Festival. In Mexico City on March 18, The Warning got to open
So now you've been WARNED! I hope you will check out more of their music and see how they have grown. Here is a recommended viewing list to see their evolution:

At one show, in the middle of The Warning setwhen Dany needed to switch guitars, Lzzy came out and gifted to Dany a new custom Gibson Explorer. Dany thought she just got to borrow Lzzy's. After the set Lzzy told Dany it was hers. Lzzy paying it forward from back in the day when she was gifted a guitar, she told Dany to do the same in the future.

I'd be curious to get your thoughts on their song Martirio. The song is one of their best, and the lyrics when translated from Spanish are very strong. But the reason I'd like you to hear it is the chords they are playing are very interesting. The chords of the verse and chorus are:
    C# E B A
    C# E B F#
    C# E B
These chords are full major triads , so I'd be curious to see your thoughts. Key of E major, with a VI and a II chord? The major 3rd of C# features prominently throughout the song. They also use a host of other chords throughout the song, accounting for every note in the chromatic scale except for G.
It's possible I'm mistaken as both my ear and my grasp of theory are weak. Regardless of whether the song is theoretically interesting or not, the song is still very beautiful and powerful. Usually these girls are best seen live, but the album version is perfect and is really aided by the studio polish. A lyric video that offers a translation is also recommended, as I said, the lyrics are some of their best.
I've been trying to figure out what makes their songs so catchy and been examining them in a way I usually wouldn't bother. I've found they use interesting or at least uncommon chords and keys for rock guitar. Pau (Pow) the drummer is their primary songwriter and their songs usually begin on the piano before being fleshed out by the rest of the band.
Sorry for the long comment, but I'm new to this band and find them very compelling, and have been looking for someone with a musical background to pick their brain, especially regarding Martirio.

    • @NoSmokingDogs
      @NoSmokingDogs Год назад

Another reactor overlaid the lyrics on the official music video for Martirio, published this video then used it for a reaction. The music video itself is probably their best, truly a work of art.

The Warning is a band of 3 sisters. Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra. They live in Monterrey, Mexico and have been rocking out as a band since 2012 (when they were 12, 10, and 7 years old)! Their parents loved music and they grew up watching and listening to rock concerts. Daniela (Dany) and Paulina (Pau) attended a music initiation class when they were 5 and 3 respectively. Alejandra (Ale’) attended the same class when she was old enough. They loved it. They all started classical piano lessons when they were between 6 and 7 years old. When Dany was 7 their dad bought them the Rock Band video game and they absolutely fell in love with rock music and performing on stage…. even though it was just a game. When Dany was 8 years old her dad asked her if she wanted to learn another instrument, along with piano. She chose the guitar. Pau chose the drums when she was 6, and Ale’ chose the bass at 6 (but was too small to play it until she was 7). Ale’ had been playing bass for all of about 1 month when they decided to play together and that was when the band was formed.
Note- their parents never pushed them to do this. This project was 100% the girl’s decision. Their parents completely supported them but never pushed them.
In 2014 they made a video to send to their grandparents to show them how they had progressed in their playing. The video was too big to just email so their dad uploaded it onto RUclips. It was a cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman and it went viral! To date it has well over 24 million views and was shouted out by Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, as well as many other famous bands. The girls were caught off guard completely by the attention this video got and they had to make a decision- they quit school and started homeschooling in order to devote as much time as possible to their music. They were 100% committed to this project and have never slowed down since (practicing 2 hours a day separately and another 2 hours together daily).
In 2015 they released an EP called Escape the Mind.
They released their first album in 2017 called XXI Century Blood (21st Century Blood)
They released their second album in 2018 called Queen of the Murder Scene. It was a concept album telling the story of a young woman’s journey from desire, to love, to infatuation, to obsession, to psychotic, to murder, to remorse, and finally to suicide. It was an amazing album and was up for an Independent Music award in 2019.
They just released (in 2022) their third album (first since signing to Lava Records) called Error. It is simply amazing!
Dany sings lead on about 75% if the songs. Pau sings lead on about 25% of the songs (either while drumming, or while at the keyboard, or just out front). Ale’ is a little shy about singing lead but steps in and sings lead when needed. All 3 can literally jump in and sing lead on any song if needed (with no drop-off in quality) and their harmonies in songs are simply amazing!
They have opened for several great bands including Alice Cooper, Def Leopard, Stryper, The Foo Fighters, The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, Three Days Grace, Guns n Roses, and Muse.
Here is a video documentary in their own words explaining this journey thus far: ruclips.net/video/s7iQG0ug4HI/видео.html

Bonus- In 2021 Metallica asked 53 artists (including The Warning) to take any of the 12 iconic songs from their Black album and do a cover (any way they wanted to) for their Black List album, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Black album. Alessia Cara (Canadian pop star) was also asked to participate but had no idea what to do. Because she shares the same management group as The Warning, she contacted them for help. It was difficult to do as Alessia was in Canada and The Warning were in Mexico and travel with COVID was not happening. They made it work and developed/recorded this completely re-imagined song in one week. They created the music video with the same logistical restrictions. Because of that you will see that Alessia appears as a projection on the wall in the video as she was not there. It was recorded in an abandoned textile mill outside of Monterrey, Mexico: ruclips.net/video/9tKQgesCcTc/видео.html

I first heard this group when they did Metallica's Enter Sandman with Alessia Cara who is more of a Pop Singer. Their version of the song blew me away and since then I have been hooked! They rock hard and I have not heard a song of theirs that I did not like. They also play some great slower paced songs like Black Holes and The Revenant which gave me chills. I think these ladies were born to do this and they have that "it" factor when they play. Thanks for checking them out

    Hey Bob, you’ve been Warned!
Yeah, welcome to a huge rabbit hole, 2 xEP’s and 3 xAlbums - I’ve followed them since 2012 when I saw a video of Paulina playing drums when she was about 10, she was absolutely smashing the cr4p out of them 😂 It’s been an absolute joy watching them grow to what they are now!
They were taught at a dual language school which explains how good they speak English.
You should listen to their track Narcissista which was their answer to criticism from the Press who said they should be singing in Spanish, they knew better didn’t they?
Alejandra (Bass) is now 18, Paulina (Drums) is now 21 and Daniela (Guitar) is 23 and they all sing.

Hi Bob, at 2:00 you mention their use of a "cool chord". My ear is terrible, so I had only learned the main riff earlier on, and just assumed the whole song was in A Aeolian. I just had a chance to learn the rest, including the part that you highlighted. The main riff, verse, and chorus is A Aeolian, with I believe a possible D major chord. Those two chords you noticed bracket the tonic. The verse chords are A5 C5 D5 Bb, Ab. I believe there are no thirds in use, but I'm not certain - as I said, my ear is weak.
Also interesting is that the entire breakdown is diminished, starting in Locrian before going full diminished to climb back to the chorus. The whole song is so catchy and would not be out of place on any rock radio station, despite these "ugly" chords. I'm sure you picked up on all of that, but I hadn't until I put the work in to dissect it.
I find their songwriting way more interesting than I would have guessed on the surface. Masterful songwriters/arrangers, lyricists, and performers. As well as super cool people. I wrote them off for years and am just now catching up, and I am almost always very impressed with what they're doing. And they do a lot. I hope you continue to give them more of your time. It's nice to see a professional musician appreciate them the way I do. Both their energy and their talent are undeniable.
