This beautiful film was clearly a labour of love by all those involved. Its powerful and very sad beginning where a handful of extremists try to stop musicians from performing. The journey alomg the Indus is beautifully covered from the north to the sea. It is sad how a few in the name of religion are trying to end the thousand year old culture of music of the Indus Valley. The resilience of musicians, their dedication to this art form is so well captured in this film. It is shameful the apathy of the State is doing nothing to save, promote and keep this culture and tradition of music and musicians. Thank you for this film. I am sharing it on social media.
Wonderful film! Occasions are so rare to see beautiful people of Pakistan! For those who never saw the film "Latcho Drom", please do! It's a 100% musical film, no dialogue. It starts in Rajasthan and travels all the way to Andaloucia in Spain. So in Indus Blues, the very colorful men dressed in orange, really reminded me of Rajasthan where it all started it seems like. We could really feel their "Gypsy" style. Yes narrow minded religious people are killing the beauty of humanity. Let's play music and dance!
Well done! It is high time we gave respect to our cultural heritage, both folk and classical. Pakistan’s cultural heritage is beautiful, rich in quality and inspiring. It touches the soul. Well done Jawad Sharif!
I am not sure how to express my feelings after watching this docu. Let's start with appreciation and happiness. Brilliant docu. Eceptional work by Jawad bhai and your team. Next, sad part. If any of these artists are forced to give up on their art then it's not just a loss to Pakistan only but a loss to entire humanity. It will prove that humanilty is chasing expensive but worthless pursuits and giving up on treasures of the world. The entire music world, disregarding the boudaries set-up by politicians, must come to the rescue of these artists and artisans. It may be painful but as rightly pointed out by a gentleman in this docu, perhaps more exposure of these artists to the western world, may help them and the art to survive. In my humble opinion, collaborations like Coke Studio, Nescafe Basement, Lahooti etc may also help by fusing these traditional folk music with modern musical art. I sincerely wish that more Pakistanis begins to appreciate these folk art and sees them as their own rather than that of their enemy's. And we, on this side of the barbed fence, will eagerly wait for such artists to flourish and have their work uploaded on SM platforms like RUclips so that we too can enjoy such beauties. Salam and dua from India. Just to add. These are truly the art/music of god which takes years, if not decade to learn and master. In their own true word, they still learn.
I don't know you. Apki documantory mere TV per ai recommendations per. Maine waisay hi start ki. Pehlay #khushi huwi k kisi Pakistani ne documentaries per bhi kaam kya hay. Aur boom hosh ur gay bai. Buhat maza araha hay. Abhi tuk half daikhi hay and I start commenting. That's such great piece u made. And why its not more famous till now. The quality and value is so high. Highly recommended. Dil Khush hogaya aur udas bhi
Wow.. This is so powerful. These musicians spoke like scholars. They are way above any of us. It is so sad to see their current plight. Thank you for the documentary. Religious fanaticism will die, love and music will prevail.
An extremely beautiful documentary taking us to the hallowed past which takes us into the simple lives of folk musician’s , and their instruments , sadly they are fighting to continue their simple lives of simple joys . It will be a sad day for humanity if sadly they are covered by the desert sands and lost to will be tremendous and sad loss to humanity if the future generation cannot get a chance to hear such melodious sound coming from these simple folk musician’s. Thank you for this unforgettable documentary.
Thanks for such an amazing documentary. Sad to see how this amazing art is dying. Amazed to see how similar are our instrument and notes but in my India the story is different. Lots of love to all the artists and instrument makers .
I just came across this gem n I have no words to express how overwhelming it was to watch it. When the Ustad who plays borrendo says, that we are bound by norms of society. When ustadji playing Sarinda is stopped in the beginning of the movie. My heart aches and ustad sachu khan playing with his fellow musicians in the house courtyard. I could feel the pain in that music. I live in Punjab, India and while watching this movie, I felt like I am also part of that society which has done so much injustice to them. Though we are on this side of the border, what would have been their future in this country, where itself the folk music is dying . Pakistani music is doing wonders in the world. Every year coke studio is watched by millions of people. Why they are not coming forward to help these people.... I mean they should be part of it. Love and music never die, was said by one old man in the video. Music connects us to God, to another soul. Jawad Sharif took so much pain to search artists in every region of Pakistan. I had never seen many of these instruments ever in my life. Hoping for better future for all of them. 🙏
Fantastic and very poignant film. As a fellow musician, though very far from Pakistan, I really felt the passion for the music of these people, and the sense of loss that was evident. A beautifully made and necessary documentary, congratulations to all concerned.
Luckily that part of the border has remained unaffected since partition and also unaffected by partition. Since it was in the desert, migrating to India only meant suicide in the deeper desert so the people stayed exactly where they were an exactly how they were. The Thar desert is soley and only the northern part of Rajasthan, just like an arm leftover of a larger body of the desert. Thar is Rajasthan. there is actually no difference except an imaginary live which exists only for humans, all the birds belonging to the area are there free to roam their huge desert.
This is easily the best documentary I've seen in years. Astoundingly focused, beautifully structured and deeply touching. Even at a distance of 5000 miles the music, people, places, and story it carries forth is almost a living experience. May it keep on reaching new audiences and keep revealing and perhaps even reviving the timeless culture which is still present behind the deafening nonsense of politics and religion. Thank you for making and sharing it!!
After watching this documentary, I'm not sure whether I should be happy or sad. The majority of Pakistanis are unaware of the country's vibrant musical culture. Indus Blues is an accurate representation of our musical heritage. The type of struggle that folk musicians face, as well as the fear of losing their forefathers' art due to a lack of opportunities, elicits a wide range of emotions. Outstanding work! For me this serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting and elevating these talented folk/traditional musicians so that their rich musical heritage can be enjoyed by future generations.
This is so important & im forever grateful for people like Jawad for doing this labour of love. We must not let our communities erase our culture in the name of religion. thank u thank u thank u ✨✨✨
Couldn't simply stop my tears from rolling out while he says " ye kabhi khatam nahi ho sakta"....such a soulful documentary...!! Proud being a string instrumentalist..
It's not like a documentary, It's a loving message for all over the world that "music and love is the secret language of God." South Asia (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka)have so many sign of it. Take my bhakti and cordial love from my deepest core. Hasib from Bangladesh. ❤🙏
What a beautiful presentation of the, traditional instruments, the vanishing music and musical instruments. Pakistan is moving towards hell, created in the name of religion. I feel very sad about the dying traditional music. The documentary was heart' touching and feeling bad and full sympathy and moral support with the artists. Congratulations to the team who created this memorable documentary
Sarangi Craftman man Ustad Ziauddin looks blunt and brave with....this kind of people always raise the flag up...I like him among the all real artist/characters of documentary. A Great documentary...
❤❤ Truly the only worthwhile documentary coming out of Pakistan. Wah!!! But why wait for the government to do something about it? That may never happen. Among the people watching this documentary however, there might be Pakistani millionaires as well who could easily fund a project to support these rural and poor musicians with money and monthly stipends, so they may continue to make their instruments and teach their music to poor kids living on the streets without food and education. In a couple of decades there will then rise a new generation of musicians playing all the musical instruments we saw in this documentary. Importantly as well, money should be made available to fund shops where instruments can continue to be made, such as Sarangi, Sitar, tabla, been, etc. surely not an impossible dream?? ❤❤❤
This beautiful old traditional way of making music and instruments , passing on the canon and skills often only orally from the master to the novice is so incredibly fragile and precious. I hope Pakistan recovers from its current floods , its a beautiful and very valuable country ..
Great work. Folk music is the mother of all genre. Respect the Art,Artist and instruments.....I have a huge respec t for all the artists and luthiers who did not gave up in such a disrespectful and difficult circumstances.
When I contemplate this film in-depth, I found myself as a Sarangi player or as the Sarangi itself and all those instruments. At that time my heart mourned. But I know, love and music will never vanish, The Nature will take care of us, Insha Allah. Thank you for this beautiful film, My best salam to all the musicians and the highest respect to Jawad Sharif, Zeejah Fazli, Haroon Riaz, Asmat Bashir, and all the film production team Salam from The East of Sumatera
Soul stirring film. Sad to see the affairs in Pakistan, which shares so much cultural traditions with India and in India the same traditions are so cherished and flourishing. Hope that Pakistan too can flourish and so can our common heritage of folk music and dance.
Partition should not have happend, that was wrong and created wars, hatred with the excuse of religion! Love and Music are the only religion ppl should follow 🥰

One of the best documentaries and descriptions of music I've heard. You show the beauty of the culture, the issues facing it, and the universality of music and love that touches us all. Thank you
Heart is crying to realize that these folk musical instruments are getting rare and one day These might be only found in Museums, but happy to watch all these together, and listening to them is the best experience in my life. Kudos and appreciation to the Jawad sir and the whole team for showing the culture and heritage of Pakistan. The main reason for the decline in music is the thought of connecting music with any religion and prohibiting it. It's our Indus Valley culture and we should own and feel proud of it. Music is the language of God ❤
A voice of reason film that in the name of music and its traditions speaks out against religious and political bigotry and intolerance as contrary to the basic nature of humankind. A documentary worthy of high honors.
Just beautiful, so many feelings at the same time. Brilliant work and a beautiful document for generations to come. One of the best documentaries I've ever seen.
couldn't control myself. emotions, bursts, tumbling lungs, rolling tears, mount open high sighs, deep breaths, cries and anxiety everything was there until last word of the artisan that art wouldn't die gave a hope. Brilliant efforts. tried to fetch the email of the director but owning to slow speed couldn't get one, wanted to write and talk to him paying my tributes and wishing him the best.
Never seen a film after 'Latcho Drom (1993)' which was so attached to just music. Even Latcho Drom failed to portray a musicians real sorrow, real sufferings, real crying, this film do. Blessed, it's a milestone to me to witness some of the greatest musicians even to be born in our last planet for humankind. I wish to write a thousands of words on this film, on this musicians, on our thinking. Never know the philosophy of Jogi's, and basically there is no classical musicians who play been. Witnessed hundreds of thousands of musicians play flute, never seen anyone play been. It was like taboo to me until I've finished the film. Now, I can relate the yogi's philosophy. How the feed their baby snake's venom is unbelievably pure. Never know from where all of those instruments comes from, What they wanna tell to us, whether it is Baluchistan's land or Peshawar or the musicians heart that we torture's by our so called 'haram' term. Well, I have a question, 'is raining sound haram?'. I wish I were The great Akbar and make someone as Tansen II. I wish some art fellow will try to save them, I don't know how they survive in Sweden or Norway, because they born in their land, in their nature. And, the land gives them music, the wood and the water for instruments. But, we need to save them before all real jewel vanish! If I ever see a 'Murali been' classical musician in my lifetime, life will be blank less. and love will never die for sure. Nature won't survive without rain's music, wind's music, river's music, everything that ensembles them, how human will survive without music? We should save Music and Musicians along with their beloved instruments.
Your words-- your emotions means a lot. People like you are hope for us.. Thank you soo much.. Stay blessed.. Hope we cross path in life and you would experience and feel live Murli been 🙏🙏🙏
@@javedsultan4830 Stick to the topic. What is right or wrong is not your business or business of Islam to force on people. Is it good for 55 year old man to have sex with 9 year old prepubescent girl? Is it ok to keep sex slaves and have sex with them? Is it ok to only bless momins and hate the rest of the people as Kafirs? Better to pray to cow as God's essence in the rest of the universe rather than doing these inhumane acts taught in Islam.
A most enlightening documentary. Thank you for all your efforts, hard work and, in spite of facing dangerous situations, having made this possible. God Bless ALL these musicians and others like them and their craft. Much Love from India 🙏🏼
I have been witnessing all these melodies in my homeland, Sindh. But now I'm so disheartened beacuse many religious clerk have brainswahsed local people by declaring music Haram (forbidden). Thanks for this mesmerizing documentary.
This documentary is a rare look into the lives of musicians and craftsman who seem to have become the penultimate inheritors of these very unique instruments. It is heartbreaking to see their plight as they are the very Soul of the Sound that has fueled the imagination of our regions for Eons. The saddest misconception in Islam is this ongoing war against music, which was never there in the origins of Islam. The Prophet (PBUH) Himself attended gatherings where poetic recitation on valour and dirges were sung by his favourite poetess Al Khansa' to instrumental accompaniment in honour of her slain brothers. Music is what uplifts the Soul. This documentary is in the service of humanity worldwide. It touches one deeply. Much respect from me in India to everyone involved in its creation.
What an important film; heart wrecking yet so beautifully told. All warmth and hearts to you and these musicians for whom the survival of their music is at the crux of their existence.
Such a wonderful documentary. It is so sad to hear of the neglect of folk music and folk art. These people are a beacon in a soulless world. They express love through music. Amazing how an overdose of religion can make us lose touch with the larger reality that we all belong to.
One of the most valuable documentary I've watched. Music, Love, Emotions blended well whether classical or folk. Best efforts are needed to save these instructions and culture. You've touched the right cord my heart in this documentary.
Beautiful piece of history about last surviving instruments and artists. Thank you very much. I've been doing research on Pakhwaj and infact was heart broken to know that one of Pakistan's last Pakhawaj player Ustad Talib Hussain was tragically murdered in 1993. Wish the govt would have focused more on development of people, art, music and upliftment of artists instead of war machinery.
Extraordinary piece of work, very poignant and delivers hard truths very simply yet so powerfully. Thank you for making this incredibly soulful film. Kudos to the film maker & the whole team. Bravo.
Today I have an opportunity to watch this incredible documentary. It moved me a lot and also saddened me to know that our great heritage of Indus valley civilization is going to instinct and no body bothering. It's really painful. We must do something to save it and restore it coz it's all love, harmony and sublimity. Else we left with nothing to relate except fanaticism and terrorism.

I applaud you to building that trust with these amazing people. It’s a great tribute to their musical skill rooted in them through generations.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Love from Pakistan
Buhat buhat shukriya aap kaaa... salamat rahien :)
The sound design, the cinematography, I'm in awe, absolutely nailed it. Got so much to learn, keep bringing such stories.
अतिसुंदर . वाह, क्या बात है। इसे बचाएं।अजान में भी तो लय है,राग है मधुरता है,
फिर संगीत से दूरी क्यों ॽ
Wow.. This is so powerful. These musicians spoke like scholars. They are way above any of us. It is so sad to see their current plight. Thank you for the documentary. Religious fanaticism will die, love and music will prevail.
Thank you for the feedback 🙏🙏🙏
Molvion ka dimag kharab hai, jo kehtey hain mousiqi haram hai. Mousiqi Kesi ko koi nuqsan nahi pohanchati. Love this documentary❤
Islam mazhab hi kharab hai
Buhat buhat shukriyaa... Means a lot jee
Fantastic and very poignant film. As a fellow musician, though very far from Pakistan, I really felt the passion for the music of these people, and the sense of loss that was evident. A beautifully made and necessary documentary, congratulations to all concerned.
Thank you so much ... love from Pakistan.
Surprise to see some Hindus in Sindh, with authentic music, just same as Rajasthani music. Really beautiful, love from India.
thank you so much, means alot.
Love from Pakistan :)
The left over arm unfortunately is Rajhistan not thar.
Thank you sooo much… this is such a beautiful message 🙏🙏🙏
After watching this documentary, I'm not sure whether I should be happy or sad. The majority of Pakistanis are unaware of the country's vibrant musical culture. Indus Blues is an accurate representation of our musical heritage. The type of struggle that folk musicians face, as well as the fear of losing their forefathers' art due to a lack of opportunities, elicits a wide range of emotions. Outstanding work!
For me this serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting and elevating these talented folk/traditional musicians so that their rich musical heritage can be enjoyed by future generations.
Dear Aimen, Thank you so much for your kind words and acknowledgment.
Once a part of India ..the mighty Indus river and its valley...from which india got its name... very heartbreaking to watch
This is so important & im forever grateful for people like Jawad for doing this labour of love. We must not let our communities erase our culture in the name of religion. thank u thank u thank u ✨✨✨
How much beautiful are Pakistan and Pakistanis . Why we have separated..?? Love from India..💕💕💕
Couldn't simply stop my tears from rolling out while he says " ye kabhi khatam nahi ho sakta"....such a soulful documentary...!! Proud being a string instrumentalist..
💔💔💔
It's not like a documentary, It's a loving message for all over the world that "music and love is the secret language of God." South Asia (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka)have so many sign of it. Take my bhakti and cordial love from my deepest core. Hasib from Bangladesh. ❤🙏
Thank you Hasib :)
Congratulations to the team who created this memorable documentary
people doing this kind of work need so much more recognition
And financial help
Sarangi Craftman man Ustad Ziauddin looks blunt and brave with....this kind of people always raise the flag up...I like him among the all real artist/characters of documentary. A Great documentary...
❤❤
Truly the only worthwhile documentary coming out of Pakistan.
Means a lot.. Thank you Bob 🙏
Great work. Folk music is the mother of all genre. Respect the Art,Artist and instruments.....I have a huge respec
t for all the artists and luthiers who did not gave up in such a disrespectful and difficult circumstances.
Thank you
I’m in tears. Such a supremely beautiful work of art this is …
When I contemplate this film in-depth,
I found myself as a Sarangi player or as the Sarangi itself and all those instruments.
At that time my heart mourned.
But I know, love and music will never vanish,
The Nature will take care of us, Insha Allah.
Thank you for this beautiful film, My best salam to all the musicians
and the highest respect to Jawad Sharif, Zeejah Fazli, Haroon Riaz, Asmat Bashir,
and all the film production team
Salam from The East of Sumatera
Inspiring 😥😥😥😥👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💯
Art has its own way to connect 🙏🙏🙏
Soul stirring film. Sad to see the affairs in Pakistan, which shares so much cultural traditions with India and in India the same traditions are so cherished and flourishing. Hope that Pakistan too can flourish and so can our common heritage of folk music and dance.
Partition should not have happend, that was wrong and created wars, hatred with the excuse of religion! Love and Music are the only religion ppl should follow 🥰
@@tina.singh27😢
Don't know what a man wants, what have we got by partitions 🙏if thoughts and ideologies are the criteria then every human being is different from others. Diversity is the beauty but politicians and game of thrones has no heart. They just believe in divide and rule.
Thank you for making this beautiful documentary available to All 💜
کچھ آوازیں جو ہمیشہ کے لئے زندہ رہ جانے چاہیے ہیں وہ موسیقی اور محبت کی ہے۔۔۔۔۔
بہت خوب ڈائریکٹ کی گئی ❤
Thank you so much Sir.. your words means a lot 🙏🙏🙏
Many thanks! Means alot :)
couldn't control myself. emotions, bursts, tumbling lungs, rolling tears, mount open high sighs, deep breaths, cries and anxiety everything was there until last word of the artisan that art wouldn't die gave a hope.
Hope we cross path in life and you would experience and feel live Murli been 🙏🙏🙏
A well deserved Award for a Documentary covering all parts of the country and the history attached with the instruments.
This is so touching, brings tears to one's eyes, prayers for Pakistanis from India
prayer to cow god is no good
@@javedsultan4830 Stick to the topic.
@@javedsultan4830u guys are the one who are doing this in pakistan , u are the villans of these documantry

This is so unfortunate Ahmed. Thank you for watching
Brave and powerful. Not enough words in my vocabulary to truly express my feelings. I am totally moved by your creation Mr. Jawad Sharif. Thank you!
"Two things never die - love and music".
Thank you thank you so much🙏
True - that's the hope - Thank you for watching 🙏
@@JawadShariffilms thank you for sharing the truth to the world🤍
This documentary is a rare look into the lives of musicians and craftsman who seem to have become the penultimate inheritors of these very unique instruments.
Much respect from me in India to everyone involved in its creation.
watching it again, and every time it leaves me tearful :,)
Amazing work deserve so much!!!
Thank you
wow!!! brilliant documentary ....thank you for the gem....wah ...love and respect💌💌💌💌💌💌💌
Amazing musicians. Heartbreaking to hear their simple wish to just keep playing music
What an important film; heart wrecking yet so beautifully told. All warmth and hearts to you and these musicians for whom the survival of their music is at the crux of their existence.
Thank you so much for your kind words !! It is indeed an important film..
No artist in this world should suffer financially . May they all be blessed with abundance 😢
I haven't watched anything like this. It's so beautiful yet so sad. Brilliant work ❤️

This film is an immense achievement for Pakistani culture, heritage and also Pakistani film; a cultural artifact in its own right, in fact!
Thank you so much jee 🙏
Such a wonderful documentary. It is so sad to hear of the neglect of folk music and folk art. These people are a beacon in a soulless world. They express love through music. Amazing how an overdose of religion can make us lose touch with the larger reality that we all belong to.
Indeed.. Thank you so much
One of the most valuable documentary I've watched. Music, Love, Emotions blended well whether classical or folk. Best efforts are needed to save these instructions and culture. You've touched the right cord my heart in this documentary.
Thank you soooo much 🙏🙏🙏
Beautiful .. sad to see the plight of these traditional folk artistes ! These people are real close to spiritual existence, Superb documentary
Love this and tears are rolling down .
Bravo.
Coming from you means a lot.Thank you so much Rehan bahi. We are big fan of your work.
One of the finest documentary I ever saw. I thank you from bottom of my heart. It's not only about the instruments but about the presentation. I am overwhelmed.
Means a lot. Thank you so much. 🙏
For a documentarian, it takes a real tact to get people to open up with such depth and wisdom and the unfortunate realities surrounding them.
I applaud you to building that trust with these amazing people. It’s a great tribute to their musical skill rooted in them through generations.
I’m afraid these people and their instruments will be forgotten in the dunes of time.
I cherished this viewing. 🙏
Thank you so much. Trust is everything. You have to respect, love, and acknowledge their struggle so they can open their heart and doors for you. 🙏
Amazing work to document all the fears of all these real heroes and their art of carrying the inheritance of their forefathers. It was having a melancholy feeling while watching it. Amazing team work :)
Thank you so much!! :)
I really wish that these beautiful and melodious instruments never get lost in this world, and I hope that these people get some recognition from the government of Pakistan. Really loved, and got overwhelmed from watching this beautiful documentary. This documentary really deserves and should get a great recognition in the whole world. ❤❤❤
Made me sad how rich music cultural diversity we losing every day.. but great efforts done by whole team 🙏
