It's okay. Pablo said that the song is about individuality but it also depends on someone's interpretation. The meaning of the song depends on someone, if he/she/they could relate themselves or imagine someone in the point of view.

Pablo their leader and lyricist, likes to use metaphors and wordplays. Also he gets a lot of inspiration from history, legends, mythology, literary arts and even pop culture such as anime, movies, etc... He really likes literature. :)
Ken - he has the lowest voice, main dancer, he can choreograph and likes fashion.
Josh - rapper, pro gamer and streamer, and very spontaneous. During interviews, they answer really well, for me, Josh stands out. Most mature.
Justin - he is an artist, creative director. Mostly, he thinks of the concept of their contents.
Stell - highest voice range and choreographer. He's the most vocal and funny. Sunshine boy of the group. ;)
Hope you could check out the 'Making Film of What?' just so you'd know that I think only 10% of this is green screen. There are amazing and beautiful locations here in the PH and the production of this MV is just superb and very creative that they made it look better on screen too.
Above all, we, A'TIN, (SB19 fans) would love to hear honest and relevant reactions from other people, as long as they are being respectful.
On a side note, just do you. React to what interests you.
Actually, this hits hard to those who are fans because Filipino themselves bashed them and asked them ignorant questions irrelevant to their group. About their sexualities, mocking individual looks, about "sounding like Koreans", about how they are all ugly except one member, etc.
I understand you bro hahaha and this song is not just about being proud as a Filipino but also being proud of yourself being proud of whatever you are and being confident of what you do, and also in that MV they want to show everyone their individuality as a person and also as a group. It's not all green screen btw. I think the only part that's green screened was Justin's part the one with galaxy and stars and all that stuff. But the other scenes where either shot in a resort here (the field, the dancing part etc.) or a set.
Actually, Pablo's scene and the intro was shot in a race track course (forgot the place), Josh, Ken, Justin and the Chorus parts were on a warehouse in Quezon City, Stell's and the Soldier scenes were from Porac, Pampanga. The "sands" on that scene are actually "lahar" or volcanic ash.
@@onyxnavee1990 Oh, thanks for adding more info, but I'm pretty sure about the whole shooting in a resort thing (I'm just not sure which parts). I watched it somewhere. They did a good job with the GCI in Justin's part too.
@@mojojobee maybe you were referring to the one in the What? MV the Making Film. The one where it's raining? I think it's where they gathered the dancers for the practice and other preparations like painting the masks and the flags.

For What?, Stell’s scene was in Batangas, and the soldier scene in Lubao, Pampanga. I don’t know where the race track was either, I don’t think it was mentioned?
I like the way you reacted to the video. You've been honest and just speaks what's on your mind. I just want to add, as an input, "Filipino" is the general term we used for our national language, using Tagalog and English. "Filipinos" (w/an "s") speaks about the natives of this country, while "Tagalog" is just one of the 175 languages we commonly used. Regarding with the song "What?" SB19 integrated music to self respect (individuality), nationality status (different difficulties overcome with), and humility (w/ high and low situations in life). Thanks for your rv Tato.

The modern Filipino language is an evolution from the purist Tagalog language, the former having more alphabet letters because it included the English alphabet letters. Tagalog/Filipino is the first language in the Philippines. English is the second language. Filipinos (the people) are good in English because as soon as you stepped in school (nursery or pre-nursery), English is already part of the Curriculum, or even earlier before school because it's widely used in the household. There may be some grammatical errors, but you will be able to understand well. English-speaking foreigners will not get lost in the Philippines because almost everything is communicated in English.

If you happen to listen to more of their songs, you will come to learn the way their leader Pablo writes their music. He puts a lot of meaning in the songs so for this one the song is beyond just being proud of your country. It is more creating your identity. So the flag with the ? Is really a blank slate which means each of us are unique ; we can put anything in our flag so in a personal level being proud of you. The whole album which has six tracks including this one is really about themselves where they come from who they are. Throughout the album, Sb19 talk about keeping themselves grounded, never forgetting where they come from even as they are closer to their dreams. So there are songs in this EP that are directed to bashers, a song dedicated to their parents, to the frontliners, dedicated to their fans.

The 5-member, all-Filipino SB19 went viral in the Philippines (and beyond) back in September 2019, a year after a failed debut which adds up to four years of training under the Korean company that scouted them. Despite a steadily-growing fandom, they've been called "ugly", "tacky", "fake"and "K-Pop wannabees". Movers in the local music scene seemed to deliberately sleep on their talents, even as they became the first Filipino and South East Asian act to chart regularly at the Billboards, eventually getting nominated for Top Social Artist this year. The greenscreen is Justin's part the one with EARTH in the window and the thunder effect.Btw,Justin is the creative director of this mv and Stell the guy with a tree at the back is one who choreographed their dance here and Pablo the leader composed the song.The 5 are very hands-on in every music video and everything that they do.

Actually Pablo the writer is very intelligent and it has deep meaning -
The song doesn't actually talks about Philippines flag. It talks about our own flags (self). It can be my flag,your flag or everyone's flag, that we don't need bullets or violence just to raise it. And also, I think the only english songs of SB19 is LOVE GOES and BAZINGA the rest are 80-90% tagalog. So you should always turn-on the subs for you to understand the lyrics well, if you checkout the others 😊 By the way react next to MAPA (lyric video) or to their debut song GO UP plss 💕

Filipino is what the national language is called and it is based on the grammar and form of Tagalog which is a major language in the country. The Philippines has more than 110 languages and Filipino borrows words from them. 😉
all of their songs they do the songwriting (mainly by their leader, Pablo), they're also involved in the production. Actually, Justin (the youngest, in the galaxy background) was the one who directed this mv. Also, All the choreographies of their songs was also made by SB19 themselves.

Hahaha don't worry Tato, the subs are fine. Like I said before, Flipinos are proficient in English. We learn it starting from Kindergarten. Our books are mostly English (I'm talking about both textbooks and literary books). English movies here are NEVER dubbed (which is why we used to be one of the largest markets when it comes to cinema). Heck even our constitution is written in English. You don't have to doubt our English that much. After all, it was the Americans who made it compulsory for us to learn it back then because we WERE under American rule for years after the Spanish sold us to them.

Hahahahah A'Tin fandom can be very hyper when it comes to new reactors to SB19 and will be spouting information so fast you can barely keep up. But don't feel pressured. A'Tin can be very protective since SB19 received a lot of unnecessary hate when they were just starting out. Also, don't force yourself Tato. If you think SB19 may not be your cup of tea, it's fine to just drop it. One thing I've learned from my Filo friends is they hate "Pinoy Baiting" (reacting and "pretending" to like any of their artists for likes/comments/subscriptions). Which apparently happens a lot. Everyone has their own likes/dislikes. So you do you.

In 20:30 , the English subtitles is definitely the correct translation.
For me I thinkthe meaning of that lyrics is that. "Don't tell me what I need to do because you never listen to what I have/wanted to say." Becaues people just say what they want to tell to a person but actually don't have the care to listen/understand that person.
