You win the internet today for posting this so quickly! I have never seen Coronation. I still think it's pretty and will get up to grab it. But if a company says a color is returning, it needs to match better than that! We might be able to get it more blurple putting it over Synthetic Symphony. I'm slowly adding the wide brushes. My favorite colors are getting them first. It's frustrating, though, as I bought all of them this year.
I prefer the 2023 Coronation is prettier than the 2017 or 2013. Wild Berry West, All In are so ridiculously pretty!💕 Venetian Sky is nice, but not one of my faves like the others. Thank you for your lovely swatches❤
I agree, they should have called it 2.0. Both are nice, although I hope they can make the original Coronation again. Question: Will you and PolishWithRae ever be doing another joint video together? I enjoyed it when you two did that.
Glad you posted, I was thinking about buying into the hype and making an order but watching this I realize it’s pretty but honestly not that special. There are similar but even prettier polishes out there and probably already even in my collection
Kinda like when Essie remade Starry Starry Night. I mean.. i like the new one. Idk if i'm gonna buy it. I have a handful of UP polishes. They are pretty, but not $$$$$ that pretty. Esp during holiday time. Gotta pinch those pennies rn. A HUGE thank you for making this video for us!!!! ❤❤❤ you are a saint! A nail polish saint! 👏👏
I agree 100% call it something else. It's so visibly different, that it's rather unfair to customers thinking they might get the exact same polish if they bought it. I almost made an order because I have the 2017 version and didn't think I needed to look at any swatches, but I'm glad I did.
I don’t know what’s going on at Cirque. They are definitely struggling and seem to be tone deaf about it? The entire Facets collection is reformulated with NO MENTION of it anywhere on the site. Don’t expect to get that beautiful extra sparkly formula they had at launch if you buy another bottle of your favorite color. The holo particles are completely different. Cirque seems to haphazardly swap out pigments without mentioning it to their customers. They’re losing me 😢 thanks for swatching. I’ve found myself really loving my ILNPs lately, so I placed an order there with my Cirque budget.
@LizCowanSC wow. I think the only mystery bags I'd be open to buying are the ones from indie websites that state PPU or HHMC over pours. And even I haven't made the jump yet.
'Coronation 10th Anniversary' / Coronation 2023 would have been very appropriate. The base colours are quite different to me. I love all 3 versions but I agree the newest should have a different name. P.s. Wild Berry West is absolutely phenomenal. It seems like quite a simple, dupeable shade but it' actually very unique & special in my collection & if I want to wear a really happy PINK - I reach for WBW 🥳🥰
I’m so excited, I don’t have any of the versions of Coronation because I got into the nail game in 2020! I love a deep purple polish, so hooray! I also love Wild Berry West, it’s such a pretty color and so vibrant. The shimmergraphic formula is so much fun, I love all of them. Lovely swatches as always!
I lucked out and got a bottle of Coronation 2017 for $20 shipped in a destash. That was one of my best purchases. I definitely prefer the base color and shimmer to the new version. They really should have named it anniversary version or something since it’s so different from the other versions. I’m not sure what’s got on at Cirque. ☹️
This would actually be the 4th release. There was a “stealth” release in 2015 via Nordstrom when they were doing popup stores. It was called “Royal Purple Shimmer” on their site, but when you got the bottle, it was Coronation.
The huge difference isn't a new thing for their rerelases sadly. The same happened for their facets-collection. When they rereleased them they changed the finish completely from small flakes that layed flat on the nail to some gritty holo glitters instead but marketed them as the same as before with identical names and so on. Since them I dont trust them with any rerelease of old colors anymore so thank you for this video!
I really appreciate the honesty feedback! I agree that they are definitely different enough to warrant a different name. That being said, I never heard of the original and I act like this new one more so I'm pretty excited!
Having seen this I prefer the older version as well. The new one is pretty but not so nice. Love Wild Berry West. All aim is gorgeous. I recently bought it and I'm in love. Venetian Sky is another fave.
Really wish I'd waited for this review before ordering! I was so excited to get a genuine UP polishand figured that warranted the price. But it sounds like that's not the case.
So different and as I have the 2017 I was going to pass on this release but I actually prefer the 2023 so I am definitely now going to snap this up. Thanks for your honest review!
Wow! So different. I actually love the 2017 version best. The new one is super pretty, and I’ll still be trying to snag it. But my preference is the 2017.
I agree with you that the 2017 is more purple. I like the older version so much better. It’s still a beautiful polish just not loving it. Thank you for the sharing! I hope you have a great holiday! ❤❤❤
I can’t help but think of coronation chicken whenever I hear this polish mentioned. Mix that with unicorn urine and you’ve got yourself a feast worthy of a regent!
Aw man, now that I watched this idk if I should be super happy or not anymore. I wasn't in the nailpolish game when the OG Coronation released and I JUST heard about Coronation first time a couple days ago when a comment on Kelly Marissa mentioned it. Looked it up and I was awestruck and sad after I couldn't find it on ebay. BUT at the same time I was stalling on placing a +200$ order at Cirque, then I saw the fabled Coronation re-release TODAY and I thought "GIRL YOU CANT POSSIBLY BE THAT LUCKY?!" Now idk, still love the color but 2017 definitely looks nicer, kinda mad I didn't even consider a change of formula/pigments
I think warming up the jelly base is throwing off the whole look of the shimmer for everyone. Maybe it will technically look better on warm skin tones but it's kind of shitty to go so hard brightening up the jelly department, that it cancels out the UP effect.
I actually prefer the new version, goes better with my skintone. However, I do agree that they should have named it a 2.0 or 2023 version. I grabbed my bottle this morning. 😊
Could the shifts be different amongst the Coronations becaue the 2023 has less OGUP than previous versions? Of course that's speculation on my part, but that could account for it.
Yes, the lack of the green shift is due to the lack of UP in the formula. I have a few UPs and Coronation does not have much. I wish I didn’t buy it. Not worth the price.
Caitlin, I came back to this video with cirque relaunching Coronation again in 2024 and you convinced me not to get it. It’s a gorgeous polish but the price is steep and I have (and love) both Venetian sky and wild Berry west… must refrain from more sparkly purples 😬
Thank you for this comparison! I so wish Cirque would work on their communication and transparency... Wild Berry West is fantastic! Have you tried C'est Chic? I have a feeling you'd love it too. ❤
@CaitlinSwatches now they're saying it's 100% OGUP but their reasoning for not listing it as such is super shake especially considering they had no issue calling it such in the past. And then let's address the colouring/shift of the shimmer. If it's UP it must be the oops batch, and maybe the maker doesn't know? That would explain the more red appearance and lack of green flip. Price is outrageous either way.
I’m sorry Caitlin, you can delete this if you want - it no reflection on you at all. I’m just gonna say it. I think this whole thing is shady AF. I think they’re losing business and this is a cash grab. I bet it’s PARTLY unicorn pigment, and the rest is aurora. And they’re charging $18. 🤔 I am very suspicious. The business is declining because people are upset with them right now, and this is the ace in the hole, release something everyone wants at a steep profit. It seems plain as day to me.
Do you also have tips on how to keep your nail polishes alive? I notice some brands go goopy very quickly, so I stopped buying them, but sometimes I just need one specific shade of theirs 😅
You should always store polish in a cool, dry and dark place. It could also be a brand-specific issue. Thankfully that's never really happened to my polishes so I think storage is key.
Polish thinner. Only ingredients should be butyle acetate and ethyl acetate. Those are the solvents used in nail polish that evaporate when you paint your nails so that the polish dries. They can also evaporate in the bottle over time, so thinner just replaces them. Start with a few drops and add more until you have the correct consistency. I keep a bottle on my nail desk, because I hate thick, kludgy polish. The Sally brand has heptane which will melt glitter, and Seche Restore has toluene which you generally want to avoid in 5-free polish (it’s fantastic for QDTC, though). Any other brand should be fine.
I wasn’t really impressed until I saw the 2013 version 😂 Now I understand the hype. The new release is pretty, but I’m not sure if I like it as much as the original.
@@CaitlinSwatches the base was more blue the color shift was more with the golden green shift but it was extremely sheer. You needed 4-5 coats to make it work and the bottle was tiny as hell. The cirque polish never really felt like a dupe even the 2013 version.
Sigh. I love me some Cirque, but they could've been more transparent about formula/pigment changes. IA, all three are different, so why not call this new one 'Coronation 2023'? I missed the Clarins UP and Coronation hype trains, but time has passed and the polish world is now so vast that while pretty, this shade/shimmer combo is really not that unique to me 🤷🏽♀ and I say this as someone who has a life goal to own every purple polish in existence 😂Dupes really do abound w/ this one imo. Will say the "2023" version has a bit more punch and shimmer to it which I prefer, but I completely understand people's frustrations over this new release not being the Coronation they first fell in love with. Thank you for your honesty as always 😊
@CaitlinSwatches I have a couple extra bottles. I don't mind shipping one to you as a gift. :) It is a Do Good polish and all of the proceeds went to Animal Haven.
aw man, I’m super disappointed. I bought it before watching your video because I’ve never had one of the “unicorn pee” pigments before. If they were honest that the pigment was different I wouldn’t have purchased it. I’ll probably end up selling it 🙃
Personally I don't care what they name it. I was lucky enough to grab 2 bottles before it sold out. I actually prefer the new Coronation version over the 2017 version. I guess the new hobby in the indie nail community is to hate on Cirque.
Somewhat unrelated but I think I might end up getting this just because I don’t want my beloved bottle of Celanaste Cinnabar to run out 🥹 I think coronation 2023 and 2017 are so different and the new bottle isn’t quite as faithful to the original which is a bummer but the new one is a nice holo sibling of Cinnabar

Wow! It’s priced at $18.50!
Oh that’s absurd. Especially since there’s not nearly as much shimmer and the base color is totally different
You’re brave ! Thank you for being critical! I love honest content from reviwers
I don’t understand Cirque’s logic behind this re-release when it’s definitely not the same.
They need the positive press 😉
They are totally different. Thank you so much for posting this! ❤
