- The fence is done. It took an extra month as our original contractor stopped work on it for just over a month before we decided to get someone to finish it. What happened was that he kept asking for an advance, week after week until his cut was all paid off. Once there were no money to be drawn, he also stopped working and left us holding the bag. Sometimes you have to choose your battle and this time, we knew that there was no use fighting over it so we have decided to hire someone else and the second one also did not do what he said he would do. our agreement was he would finish both sides of our fence and decided to just do one side, house side. We did not have it written so we also let this one go. One thing we have learned from this is to have a written contract on exactly what is to be expected. This is a lesson for us in dealing with workers here in the Philippines. It has been frustrating dealing with workers here and the quality of their work when not supervised is bad.

Hi John and Maria I like your wall its nice you have the side to your other land with an open meatal design on upper part of wall as it's great to see into the forest from the garden great design like it a lot ,and yes also wise to get written agreement on work Hey Ho we all can be to trusting and expect the other parties to follow but sadly some don't but thankfully there are few in Philippines who take advantage like that as it's not a good way to treat customers and there business would suffer .sorry you had to experience something like that it leaves a kinder bad taste in one's mouth ,just pray the work done was done with correct mixes and lasts . stay safe and take care always .
Yes, we wanted to see the forest from our lanai and we are glad we did it. It is just like we are in a jungle but very close proximity to the city(7 minutes). Written agreement is a must and being present while building, we are glad we have this house now but I do not think we will ever build here again. So much headache...Thanks for coming by Mike. I love your fence. I might do that style on front and areas that are sensitive to the eyes but chain link or even barbed wire at the back, if not it will cost me a fortune. That kind of style gives your area a definition,beauty, good ventilation and most of all security. Very good job!

thats about right. we build a hollow block fence like yours. but i wanted it so that its all cement and you cannot see inside. like our privacy. we spend about $12,000.00. we have 2 1/2 acres.

Our engineer did the application for a permit to build with his plan. We do not exactly know the process, we just let him handle it and he did for a fee. thanks so much for watching❤❤
Wow, i payed this price for my 1000sqm lot. 500k for just the fence is really high.
I think it would be more expensive now as the cost of materials and labor has increased a lot since we did our fence. Building in the Philippines isn't as cheap as people think.

I do not think we have one, but if you look at our video, site of our house in Kidapawan, you will get a view of the lot before we put our fence up.
Your title says square feet. This looks to be 1600 sq meters. Which is it? This has to be bigger than 1600 sq feet (150 sq m) by the looks of it.

is half metal and half concrete cheaper than a full concrete blocks on the fence? Planning to fence out a 1000K square meter lot in the Philippines for retirement. Any inputs and suggestions is greatly appreciated. Tnx
A full concrete blocks is cheaper, in my opinion. Metal cost plus labor is expensive. Hollow blocks are much cheaper. Will check with John and gets back to you again. Thanks for watching. It is much appreciated.
John thinks the same way as metal and welding is not cheap. However, it is good to have if you do not want to block out a view over the fence. We hope this helps.

1,600 SQUARE FEET or 1,600 SQUARE meter, Sir? We have 500 square meter lot and we plan to hire an Engineer to do it for us. Including the adding more land to elevate it, the ballpark figure cost is 2 million.
Just the fence? We did not hire an engineer to build our fence. But that sound excessive to be paying for just the fence but saying that, we do not know the materials, the elevation that you are doing so we cannot really compare our cost to yours. Good luck with the build

Simply building such kind of fence is not enough. You should add electric fence on top. There are a lot of terrorists in your location dude. Good luck!

Kasali na po lahat. Medyo napalaki po ang gastos namin kasi ang unang contractor namin ay nagback out noong makuha na niya ang bayad niya kaya kumuha kami ulit ng iba na nagtapos sa trabaho niya. @@marimarie4063 Para sa akin ay mas maganda ang contractor kung mapagkakatiwalaan kasi pwede silang mag over time kung gusto nila at mas mabilis matapos. Kung arawan naman kelangan may bantay na mapagkakatiwalaan kasi naexperience na namin na kung arawan, kung minsan sinasadya ng mga trabahante na patagalin ang trabaho po. Good luck po
