  • This is my honest opinion of the ZeroPlus Logic Cube Pro LAP-C Pro(32256M) 32 channel logic analyzer after spending 3 months with it on various projects. Although ZeroPlus sent me the unit for free, I was not under obligation to say anything in particular about it or even required to make this video.
I also take a look at the logic analyzer market as a whole from the perspective of an idiot who just likes tearing stuff apart to see how it works.

Nice! This gives me ideas on signals coming out from Arduino since I only have a scope.

You can do a lot with a scope, but this is definitely a cool tool to have in the arsenal.

Great review! Informative and fair. PS: Thank you for the warning about the equipment dissection. ;-)

Great review. I am curious what you found in your analysis of the air quality device. You can't tease me like that and share the fruit of your detective skills.

Haha. Spoiler alert (primarily because I'm way behind on filming videos) but nothing nefarious. It was a ridiculously cool project though to see the communication between the board and the wifi chip and then see it encoded on the other side.

I heard that there is a hardware mode that modifies the 16032 to be 32 channels, where i live that's the only model i found available been thinking of buying it

3500$ is way too expensive for a hobbyist/maker. For 250$ you can get used HP 16500 or a HP 1670 with 96 or 128 channels. If you need protocol analysis, you can buy a DS logic unit for 70$.

I can definitely see that. That's why I talked about the range of them. If you need more than the $70 unit, once you get into the $200 range, it's really hard to beat the ZP units because of the software and protocol decoding.

It is a steep price climb as you move up in the LA world! Is the Zero FPGA based for the signal processing? I know the cheapie 8 channel is uC based, but for many will work fine. You are very correct about the OS LA apps, they are not that clean looking as Logic from Seleae or from what I have seen from Zero's app. I did get it to install under Wine/Linux and it seems to run fine but no use on it past starting the app. I have found that good micrograbs are VERY expensive and the you will want more than a few, but looks like you get a good selection from Zero. Those are transferable between units as well. I made a full set of probe connectors for my clone 8 after I got it, and they are the pain in the be-hind cheapies. The ones you have look like the EZ-hooks I have now. Have fun.

It is a really steep climb. I'm guessing that has more to do with the fact that they're generally going to professional grade customers. I think it's that way with most lab equipment. I bought some more of those clips from Aliexpress. I'm sure they're not as good of quality but they seem pretty delicate overall.

E-Z-Hook set is $26 from Digikey

You can buy an MSO for that price.

    • @AnotherMaker

You can. It's one of those things where purpose built tools generally excel at their own task. A leatherman multitool will get the job done for most things, but isn't great at any of them. An MSO will definitely help with your digitial signals, but doesn't usually have close to the storage (unlimited in the case of USB3) or protocol decoding capabilities. If you can only buy one piece of equipment, a scope is not a bad way to go though.

Wonderful review! I am impressed when you compare the ZEROPLUS Logic Analyzer like competitive car market. ZEROPLUS Logic Analyzer do make continuous efforts in upgrading the new protocols and software for Semiconductor & IC-based clients, and every customer can use the new protocols with free-of-charge. Hope every engineer can give a try of LAP-C Pro series model :)
