Here’s a few really common questions I’ve already gotten about this!!
💛 WAS THIS YOUR FIRST ULTRASOUND?
Yes it was!! We hadn’t done any other ultrasounds yet so this was the first time we had an ultrasound at 18 weeks pregnant.
💛 HOW DID MICHAEL GET YOUR REACTION?
He thought he was filming my reaction seeing our baby with an ultrasound for the first time. I even told him something like he didn’t have to and could just enjoy it with me but he really wanted to film my reaction… I’m SO glad he did because I love this video so much!!
💛 DID YOU SUSPECT TWINS AT ALL?
Not one BIT. Which is why I started crying!!! In that moment, I was SO happy and felt an instant love for them both. All I was thinking was, “God gave us TWO babies, not one, TWO!!!” Over and over again. But overall, I’ve felt great in my pregnancy and didn’t have any reason to believe it could be twins.

It is alot of emotions. A few years ago my sister passed away from ovarian cancer and three weeks later to the day on a sunday, my husbands father passed away from pancreatic cancer. We had an ultrasound scheduled the day after his father passed. The hospice bed was still in the living room. I told him we could reschedule because everything that month had been so heavy, but he said he needed to get out to clear his mind.
Low and behold we go to the ultrasound and we are pregnant with twins...we cried and told the nurse what had just happened to us, the nurse hugged us. Fast forward a few weeks, we would found out we were having a boy and a girl.

@@jayneyost7110 Honestly, my sister for as young as she was...I am glad she is out of pain and she was very open talking about her mortality. I hope when my day comes I have half as much grace as she did. And for the father in law....perhaps one of the most heartwarming farewells...his hospice bed at home, surrounded by 40 plus family members ( including myself) singing his favorite song ( amazing grace) as he passed. Not a bad way to go.

I worked for an ob/gyn when I was in nursing school, and the ultrasound tech was a man so many of the ultrasounds required a female employee to be present. I got to see all sorts of great stuff, but my favorite was a lady who was in for her 10 week ultrasound. She kept saying how she hoped it would be twins because she's always dreamed of having twins. I asked her if twins ran in the family, and she said nope, none on either side of the family, but she still really hoped to have twins. I just kind of smiled cause I knew the chances of her randomly having twins was about the same as getting struck by lightning.
Heartbeat check revealed.....twins. The tech and I were floored. The lady looked like she was going to float off the exam table, and the husband looked like he was going to pass out. Awesome experience.
I got struck by the twin lightning! No twins in my family or his until now!
Is it possible to have twin when transvaginal ultrasound only show one baby with heartbeat and one sac at 7 weeks?

My older daughter will be 37 in October. If I had had two of her....I don't know... I wouldn't have survived. She was such a handfull! Lol! Congrats on your twins, though. 😊

This happened to me!!! I went in at 20 weeks to find out the sex of my baby and the nurse went to one side of my stomach and said "there's a boy in here". Then she went over the top of my stomach and said "oh, there's TWO boys in here"! No twins in my family anywhere. I was shocked! And that was 23 years ago. Such a blessing!!!
The same thing happened to me, at my 20 week anatomy scan. I was telling the tech how excited I was to finally see my baby because up to that point we had only heard the heartbeat and she asks me, "how many do you think are in there?" They are 3 now, a boy and a girl.
Did yall go in for the early scan and it only shown one? Or did you not get an early scan done? Just curious!

I’m a big, tough, burly man, but I’m not ashamed to say that this made me cry. I’m a father and a grandfather so I know what joy even one child brings into a loving home. Seeing this happy news delivered to this loving couple was something very special. Loved it!

I'm a pregnant emotional woman with twin children of my own. This video made me feel nothin. It's just a super normal scene, I don't know. You've probably been holding all those emotions in for some time and this just happened to be the straw that broke the camels back.

I was 20 weeks when I found out I was having twins. They were born healthy at 37.3 weeks. Grateful I didn’t need a c-section, and one was breech! 6-12 and 6-10. Still shocked 18 years later! Congratulations!
Same here. Found out that I was having twins in my twenties. I actually had two sets of triplets.

At 5 weeks only one baby was seen; at 11 weeks we saw the other one. They were same sac shared placenta. And they were 6lbs 14oz and 7 lbs. Now they are almost 19 and at college!

I remember when the dr told us where were having twins. It’s an out of this world feeling!! I’ve had 2 kids prior so I knew what it was to be pregnant but WITH 2 AT THE SAME TIME it hits you different. I had the mirena iud in for 10 yrs (2-5 yr cycles) so I knew it was gonna “take some time” to get pregnant. I took it out on April 4th and by May 13 we found out we were pregnant. I was spotting and I was terrified so obviously we went to the ER. long story short the dr came in and said “you are gonna need 2 car seats” me half as sleep n hungry I responded “no it’s ok. We can always switch it to mine or my husbands car” he said “no. You are not understanding. You are gonna need 2 car seats… you are having twins!! That’s why you are spotting. Your body is getting rid of all the extra blood you are producing because you are having 2 babies” and when I tell you that I went into shock I do! And I don’t remember anything else that was said between dr and hubby. Then we were driving and that’s when I started to cry and kept repeating “twins! We having twins!!” And now our beautiful mixed Mexican/Polynesian twin girls are 4 and a half yrs old. Story I love to tell! ❤👯♀️❤️

@@dianaestrada9721 I think it's just because of the gender based presumption that females can only be nurses. For someone to pick up twins on an ultrasound, they'd have to be really skilled with the machine. That's a specialist or sub specialist in the video, nurses are rock stars in many other things.
Ultra sonographer. Nurses don't do US's.
Could even be the doctor, often ultrasound techs are not permitted to share findings until read by doc.
Oh my.gosh this takes me back to my ultrasounds its so so emotional in an unexplainable way. You feel the touch of Heaven. We are so blessed with the sacred role of bringong God's children to earth
Sooooo Precious! This happened to us at 19 weeks. We went with our 3 and 2 year olds and got the surprise of our lives!! Four kiddos under four in 3.5 yrs with 2 boys and 2 girls is like the jackpot, soooo blessed and sooo fun!!! 💖💖💖💖

4 is the perfect number!!! I'm from a family of 4 siblings, two boys and two girls and it is the best ❤ I'm 30 now and expecting my first, and I loved growing up and continuing to grow with all of my siblings!

27 weeks pregnant with boy/girl twins. Down a long line of family on my moms side has twins. I never thought I could get pregnant yet alone pregnant with twins. It’s a blessing in so many ways. I can’t wait for my prince and princess to be in my arms. Sending all the love and joy ur way momma ❤.

I work in the NICU as a cuddler. Best job ever. Walked in Friday to 7 sets of twins @ 3:00...2 more sets by 9:00 and told 2 beautiful mamas in labor with TWO MORE SETS. Careful what you drink in Tucson.❤
How can you become a cuddler because I feel like cuddling newborns would be a wonderful calm happy job
@@queentargaryen9389 It's the most wonderful job ever!!!! Contact Volunteer Services at your hospital and specify that you want to work in the NICU. 15-20 hours of training to hold, feed, change, take temperatures and weight of these little sick babes. I'm sure you know, they are in the NICU for a reason. Few are without feeding tubes, breathing apperatice, IVs, etc. Holding those little angels are not only good for them, but good for my soul too! The nic nurses always say "thank you so much". My answer back is "my pleasure" and it truly is. Good luck. Let me know... ;)

I remember my 10 week ultrasound I had a miscarriage 4 months prior and I was in denial that I was even pregnant. The tech put the wand right on and boom there was my 10 week baby girl. I balled my eyes out! So happy for you guys!

I’ve had multiple ultrasounds already because they haven’t been able to pick up a heartbeat with the Doppler yet so all of my appointments have had ultrasounds so I doubt something like this will happen to us but it’s so crazy that it happens! Congratulations!!

Health insurance limitations on sonograms
I found out at my 20 week anatomy scan that I was having twins. It was the first ultrasound I received during that pregnancy because I chose to receive care from a midwife up to that point and she was only using a Doppler. During every appointment, as soon as she heard 1 strong heartbeat she stopped scanning, not thinking there was reason to continue scanning for another.
Some places don’t do ultrasounds until later unless you’re high risk. It’s not recommended AT ALL, but typically family doctors do this. Sometimes you can also have an ultrasound done too early and miss seeing one of the twins. Sometimes one baby can hide perfectly well under the other. It would be absolutely CRAZY to find out at 18 weeks though 🤣
@kimcwhite6509 nope. Generally most women don't get an ultrasound period unless its high risk till 20 weeks.
@@Denozo88what? Where are you from. In most places in America, you get one ultrasound at 8-9 weeks or so, then the anatomy at 20, and maybe an extra if baby wasn’t cooperative (like mine was) and I’m pretty sure that’s all…
You never get over the news. They will be 14 in October and I still get chills thinking about that day.

At 18 weeks, I would hope not! I believe you have your 1st ultrasound way earlier than that, like 6-8 weeks.
@@MissTXTeeDepends on history. Second healthy pregnancy I didn’t have an ultrasound until 20 weeks. (Third pregnancy they offered an ultrasound as early as possible to see if it was twins again lol)
Congratulations! My Mother had me, #6 then 1 yr. 18 days later had twin boys. She did not know she was having twins and went into shock!
Wow. My mom found out the day of the delivery. I came out at midnight. Then the midwife said there is a second one and she's stuck in the uterus. Both mom and my twin sister almost died. It took an hour. She was born at 1 a.m. I am hoping that my daughter has twins. My mother in law is a twin as well. lol

When my dad found out my mom was having twins, he missed a stop sign driving back home he was so excited. My sister was 15 months old when my brother and I were born. I also had an older sister that was 4. Four babies in 4 years.
My daughter found out she was having identical twins at her 3rd ultrasound. They only assumed one because their heartbeats were in sync and they were laying on top of each other so they couldnt see the other one. She had my grandsons 11 days after my birthday and i was the first to see them(she had to have an emergency csection about 3 weeks early) when they were born and they are amazing!!

I found out at 26 weeks pregnant and literally was terrified. They are the joy of my life.
Waay back early in 1953, my Mom went to her checkup with her obstetrician. After the exam, he told her everything looked fine. She said, "I believe I'm having twins." The doctor replied, "No, I don't believe so!"
My mom said she knew better, so she bought two of everything. My twin and I were born in late June, 18 minutes apart.

My mom found out that she was having twins when my identical twin sister was born. The doctor asked my mom how early she was and she said she was only six weeks early. He then told her that she had another baby coming and my mom was laughing hysterically. Previously this doctor had told her that she had a very active baby boy and that she needed to watch what she was eating because she was getting too big. Our heartbeats were in sync so the doctor couldn't tell just by listening that there was more than one baby. Now this was in 1983, in Puerto Rico, so so ultrasounds weren't used unless absolutely necessary. My sister was 3 lb 12 oz and already had a name just in case they had a girl and I was born exactly sixty seconds later and weighed 3 lb 6 oz. My parents had to scramble to find me a name and so they opened the Bible at the hospital, which was in Spanish, and picked the name Raquel. I have always absolutely loved my name because in my family the most unique name. Congratulations on your two baby girls!
This happened to my dayghter. Dad went with her tovtge ultrasound. Good thing she was lying down. Daddy told her she needed to breathe. She was totally unprepared to hear twins... they are 8 now. Boy and a girl. We just love them

Was this your first ultrasound for the pregnancy? Asking because someone I love is pregnant and has had one already at 8 weeks.
Most ppl don’t find out about their twins until later since they hide with eachother and healthier women only get 2 ultrasounds
I'm wondering if it's different depending on what country you're in. 8 weeks for the first ultrasound is standard where I'm from. It's called the dating scan.
Where I live it's normal to have a first appointment with vaginal ultrasound at about 8 to 11 weeks and then about every 4 weeks. The first appointment always has a vaginal ultrasound and you check for the heartbeat and then the second ultrasound may be vaginal or on the belly, depending on where it shows better. After the 3rd time it's always on the belly.
I had my 3rd (or 4th?) ultrasound about 4 weeks ago (in my 18th week). At that time they usually try to find out the gender for you if you want to know.
@@blankerini all of my ultrasounds were over my belly, I didn't know they usually start with vaginal ultrasounds. I lucked out lol
@@britneylord2177 transvaginal probes are typically used in 1st trimester pregnancy ultrasound scans. 2nd and 3rd trimester ultrasounds are usually done over the belly bump.

Finding out I had twins was so overwhelming. My husband wasn’t with me, but thankfully my sister did my ultrasound. So o had family with me. I had two boys who will be 39 years old in November. People often asked, how do you do it with twins. I had no other children so it was all I knew. I just told them if one baby takes up all your time, 2 can’t take up anymore!😊
We found out about our twins at our 19 weeks ultrasound and the tech said "so this is your first ultrasound?! Well there's two in there!" 😂😢 congratulations! The surprise of a lifetime!
In 1998, at age 39, I went for a haircut, then directly to my OBGYN office for my first ultrasound of my second pregnancy. I’d been having morning sickness, which I didn’t have with my first. My hairdresser asked if I thought “there might be more than one in there?” Well, the ultrasound showed exactly that! I almost fell off the table-no twins in my family. My husband was at home with our 18 mos. old daughter and, as I pulled into our street, I started to cry, but didn’t know if it was out of happiness or fear. I was afraid I’d give my husband a heart attack when I told him! He started laughing, then I started laughing…it was such a fun day, in the end! We were having twins at almost age 40! Our identical boys are turning 26 next week. It has been quite a ride! Wishing you every happiness, mom and dad! Get some sleep, now, while you can!💜

Asking myself the same question?
Not everyone goes through a hospital to give birth and therefore they don’t usually have as many ultrasounds. My first one was at 21 weeks
My 2nd pregnancy was midwife care, no ultrasound I knew I had a healthy pregnancy with regular check ups. It might be common place now but not always needed . My son is 29.
My sister in law didn’t know she was having twins until her 20 week ultrasound. She had an ultrasound at 12 weeks and they only saw one. It can be missed

Many years ago when I had an ultrasound at 17 weeks, a technician in training came in to practice before the doctor came in. As soon as she put the transducer on my belly, I saw 2 heads and just started crying. I was so happy! It is a great journey - enjoy!
