On the humor part: Belgians are very well versed in most types of humor, dark and grim is not a default for all of them. I'd say most of it is a decent or good portrait of the Belgian woman, beyond and despite their lingual and cultural divide.
I know these are generalizations, but personality wise, the Belgian girl might be the best. Someone down to earth who is straightforward. No guessing games about her feelings. Priceless.

I'm agreing with Jarett on this. Mostly accurate on being down to earth, dark sense of humor etc. Only thing I would notice (as a bilingual Belgian) is that the video portrays rather french speaking Belgian women. Flemish women might still prefer the 'classic' dates with the typical stuff still and are slightly less spontanious (though as much enjoyable ofcourse).
Also I would add that (french speaking) Belgian women are really go with the flow, like you'd get quite some time before having to decide wether or not something is to be something serious or not.
Quite universal when it comes to not behaving like a macho. If you're funny or clever that's much more appreciated here :)

This is amazing. I'm a Belgian / Flemish guy who has been living in Ireland and the US for the last few years. I 100% get and would do exactly what the Belgian lady in the video said and did. Including the perpetual ordering of fries with the perpetual disappointment because they're never as good as Belgian ones.
Most of the Belgians I've met were Flemish so Dutch-speaking. The girl in this video is French-speaking. However, I feel that all this is pretty accurate for Dutch-speaking Belgians as well.

Am Belgian, can confirm that on average all of these are pretty bang on (such sad looking fries and ketchup by default? the horror! :'). There's a very distinct difference between people from Wallonia and Flanders, though, that would've been interesting to highlight; those from the Flemish side are in general a bit more reserved and are often more internationally-minded, while the Walloon side takes a lot more cues from French culture (including dubbing all their stuff in French, which is part of the reason those from Wallonia have a significantly lower rate of multilingualism than people from Flanders).

loved this video! I had been waiting for the belgium videos as a belgian girl myself. Most seem quite accurate :D In general first dates are relaxed. I do dress a bit up for the first date, it shows your intrest (imo). only the humor part really depends from person to person. I haven't met many people with dark humor.

Ah you finally did a Belgian one…great! The dark sense of humour, authenticity, and frites + sauce (samouraï, baby!) bits were bang on; I am not so sure about the spontaneity, though! And you may need to do separate ones about the French-speaking, Dutch-speaking, and even German-speaking communities given the diversity of the country. I say all of this as a Canadian living in Belgium for a long time…your Canadian ones were bang on BTW, for better (Québécoises) or for worse (Anglo men and women)
One last thing: no way a Belgian would leave his/her bike unlocked…would get stolen in a heartbeat, at least in Brussels!

As someone who has Belgian friends, his is so facts, they're alot more chill and fun to be around than their Dutch counterparts(the Netherlands ofc, which lets be honest alot of them are standoffish and a bit stuck up) excellent video once again, I'll be waiting for the Chinese man, Greek man, Romanian man, Venezuelan woman etc video.

OH!! The exclusivity thing. This is NOT just a Belgian thing. It shocks nearly any European when they're dating an American to find that they may be dating somebody else too. I'm English and if you've been on a couple of dates and are at the point where you're kissing, holding hands and definitely if you're sleeping together then it's presumed you're not seeing other people. That would be thought of as cheating. We don't have the exclusivity talk. It's not a thing. Exclusivity is presumed. Americans be warned.
Btw, apart from the sauces for the chips (fries) everything in this film applies to English girls too.

I spent many years on the coast of Massachusetts and Martha’s Vineyard in my teens and early 20s. Went to college near Boston. I remember going to dinner in Texas in my early 20s with my then-boyfriend ( we were both from the state of Georgia). The wife in the couple from Texas asked loudly at dinner if I went to college in New England. Why yes, said, how did she know? She was a Texas beauty Queen type of woman, all big hair, fancy clothes and flirty flirty. I was wearing no makeup, a plain white cotton sweater, simple blue skirt and a simple brown leather handbag. It was the way I dressed, she said.

No... her accent is from Bruxelles, which the 3rd region of Belgium.
An observation - I find that a lot of French speaking women who are not from France are surprisingly down to earth and very easy to talk to and date. Belgian women. Quebec women. Just something I've noticed.
I was planning a trip to Belgium but my plans got cancelled in 2020. I might try again next year.
