TIPS TO LMPROVE THE RONDHOUSE KICK
@@dumitriuflorentina6137 lmao huh
I have a tip for you: You use the top of the foot (instep) which makes the kick much easier to execute BUT is only for contacting soft targets otherwise your foot will hurt or break. For "business" kicks which will do real damage to the target you must use THE BALL OF THE FOOT for contact. Of course this kick is much more difficult to perform and requires great flexibility and coordination. This latter type is the roundhouse kick used for breaking demos.
you are dame right bro. full spin and stretch power of knee
totally disagree i'm not even going to get into explanations it's justo silly What the ball oficina the foot stories i justo read thats why taekwondo Is king when talking about kicks.
thank you for this video. you look so beautiful when you wear dobok and black belt
on this comnent I totally agree!
Same Jahen Arias
Thankyou so much for 🎥
Landing with the instep of the foot is for class and tournaments. If it's a real fight I curl my toes back and land with the ball of my foot wearing shoes. Instead of it hitting the top of their guard it can go through the guard giving you the penetration for the kick to land. Watch people breaking in competition with the round kick. They will strike with the ball of their foot. It's stronger because of the alignment of the bones in the foot. I teach both ways.
I train Tang Soo Do, we also train to roundhouse strike with the ball of the foot unless sparring with foot protectors. Kicking with the ball concentrates the force better. Kicking with the flat increases the risk of breaking bones if they block with an elbow or arm.
If you actually knew what you were doing you would kick with the shin
Specifically ITF focus more on ball of foot, WTF is flat of the foot
Alex you are the best thank you 🙏 ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹
Mi congratulo con te! Hai fatto un ottimo lavoro, ragazza.
I want to prepare my room to be ready as your.

Awesome video I have always struggled with the roundhouse kick. Thanks Alex you have some great videos.
Your hair looks 🙂 nice... Plus I know I have learn from you. I am a black belt 2nd degree at taekwondo our forms are different of course but I love the fact you practice traditional taekwondo
Good point alex not everyone think about the small things
Good video. One difference I have with what you said. I was taught to kick with the ball of the foot. Using the ball of the foot has a lower chance of breaking the foot. Usually, the foot is at a right angle to the leg. Do you agree? Did I miss something? Also, someone can use the ball of the foot to make slight angular adjustments. I mean that sometimes a round kick of a short person kicking a very tall person can extend the distance by changing the angle of the foot.
Thanks! I have always been trained to hit with the top of the foot for training and sparring and then for more power type hits use the instep or shin.
Show the front snap and front thrust kick.I just a beginner.
Love her videos !!!
Hey alex, I am green belt but I am not getting the roundhouse king from my back leg only
Five minutes ago I was just finding a good video on how to improve my RH kick, and here you post it. Thanks Alex!
Awesome! Hope it helps! :)
Alex, I want to learn all kicks properly. I'm 50+ yrs. My getting back into tkd my grandmaster says I kick like mule. Well, immediately I went to control..smooth as another instructor shared. Things are starting to come back to me a little more. Forms are a little different they call them short forms? I'm doing old Palgwe the will to teake as I call it lol. My original instructor old school not just in tkd karate aikido silat judo....and these styles blended into his self-defense program has for over 30 years had a 95+ % rate. He is now going internal like Germany, Denmark, Russia, Argentina and he has asked me to get complete getting my 1st-degree black belt. At present I'm teaching young white belts fresh new starters plus some problem shooting with younger kiddos. Well my dojang is now going Tang Soo Do. Alex, what is the difference? Forms are the same maybe they are more traditional they say now and example in form 3 all moves ( white belt going toward blk belt )is ALL in-out after chops....ok I can and have adjusted but.....before I had my surgery I was blue belt up for red belt test. Family situation came up and that gym was closed a good while. I then joined a Tang Soo Do dojang.good people. Tournaments great trophies but a lot of cliches. I had to start all over just because I was from TKD. I ended up orange 2 stripes ready for my green belt test in this gym. I know I will do it but being older and yes I can kick high but have found my zone in hand speed and kicks. Lots of movement fakes reading body language and staying relaxed got me my last 3 trophies. The one trophy that means more to me is back in 2011 World TKD/TSD. IT WAS life changing.
Thank you Alex! Helpful info
Muchas gracias !!

Thank you so much!
Alex Wong you're welcome and thank you so much too.hehehe cheers!
Hi I would like to make a video of of you put your tae kwon do gear thank you
Thanks a lot. ❤
Really good kickers can strike with toes pulled back and touching at the ball, but not me. I can only strike with the top like you demonstrate. Also, we chamber to the side and bring a lot more hip onto the kick. Can just about break a BOB in half with it that way.
This is for point sparring though.
Yeah that is more for kickboxing/power kicks. The one I am giving tips on is geared for sport TKD. But when I do more power hits or training muay thai I put a lot of hip into my kick as well.
Taekwondo roundhouse kick is best, it's much more balanced, non telegraphic, accurate and that last moment snap is killer!! Thanks for this video buddy!
Agreed. and thanks for watching!
Alex Wong would you use the top of your foot in a round kick to board Break?
How to imrove kicks landing on the top of the foot everytime?
This video I did on kicking accuracy should give some tips that can relate to that: ruclips.net/video/SSnB-Km4AbQ/видео.html

I plan to make a video on 360/tornado head kick variations. Like 360 Axe, Crescent, or round to the head. :)
Alex Wong Perfect! Thank you!!
great tips
Thanks!

Thank you very much Alex.
Yeah
Can you teach use how to do a two touch kick
I just have to train mine to be little smoother then I will make a video on it :)
I’m a camo belt In songham Taekwondo, and we are told it can also be called a round kick.
Why do you want to hit with the top of you foot instead of your toes? I think I initially learned to use the toes, but when I kicked an opponent I usually used the top of the foot. Why is this preferred?
Using your instep is easier and arguably faster. Using the ball of your foot is more powerful.
I was taught to use the ball of the foot
Sean Hiatt that is ok but if you don't land it right you can hurt your toes
Same but I was also taught to use the shin. The ball of the foot is a little risky because you could hurt ur toes
That sounds like the old school shotokan karate method, which is a perfectly effective way to kick. The problem with that though is the risk of injury you pose to your toes if it doesnt land right, meaning you should be well practiced with that technique if you want to use it in sparring or use it to hit stuff. It can potentially land with more power than the top of your foot in the right circumstance, and is pretty good for body blows, but is overall less versatile than hitting with the shins or the top of your foot.
Sean Hiatt I was taught to use my shin.
Thanks, Alex! I really am enjoy it! :) Well, this helps to explain more to my juniors and friends in Taekwondo! Have a nice day, Alex! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope it helps with your training :)
Awesome!
thanks for the info alex...Ijust sent you a few to use as well. Happy Holidays to you.

Alex Wong not a problem
I like YOU Alex very much
How to improve drill doliyo kick
Oh oh! And you're so awesome with that dobok! Take that as compliment from me 😊 You're welcome, Alex.
Hey Alex, I'm new in taekwondo, though I can only kick right on my left leg, I don't get a good position for my other leg, any tip?
the only thing to do is practice. make sure whenever you train a kick on your left leg make sure you do it an equal amount of times on your right leg
Break down the technique of the kick and go slow and lots and lots of practice and you will get it. Plan to make a video on it :)
Alex Wong tnx Alex:)
🥋GREAT
My fav Kick. It stings when you break a board with it thou
Mr Fantastic yellow for a board you don't use the top of the foot. You do it more traditional with the ball of the foot because it's a harder part
COOKIEspace I was not aware of this method when it came to breaking boards with your foot. Is that the actual Taekwondo method or preferred method or is this just personal observation?
John Anthony I can only speak for WT Taekwondo wich I do for 10 years. And there it is the actual method (probably because it works). You have to differ between the traditional technics (for the forms and everything) and the ones for fighting. Traditional you use the doljeo-chagi wich is exactly like the roundhouse but with a diffrent foot position. You pull the foot and toes back so you hit with the ball of the foot.
Wich is a lot better for breaking the board as long as you pull back your toes enough otherwise it gets painfull. In fighting it's saver to use the roundhouse because when the target moves the risk of hitting with the toes is much higher
i cant roundhouse with my weak leg :c
With the other, my roundhouse is perfect
Nice
hit that with the ball of your foot. You are using the flat surface of the hammer. use the protruding part, the ball of the foot,to drive the nail.
Why do you have your leg at a 45-degree angle when you chamber all of my instructors have taught me to have my leg parallel to the ground when chambered
Leg parallel to the ground means that the kick will travel along that line and 'be that high' if you want your kick at a different height then chamber at a different height. You don't say how long you have been training TKD but if you are a beginner (or at the first few belts level) then that is why your instructor wants you to start by keeping your leg parallel to the ground - small acorns an' all that.
IndiaRubber Man I’m green belt in tkd but I train at kickboxing in full contact sparring. I find that when you angle the chamber like that your leg skims up your target causing less damage with a parallel chamber the power goes into the target causing more damage
TKD its more common for a 45 degree angle. Leg more parallel is geared more for kickboxing.
I had a little more than 10 years training tkd, but I never had intention to be in a competition. This kick has some variations. "dolio tchagui" is ok... It's a circle kick. "Ap tchagui" is ok, is a straight kick. But "bandal tchagui" is a completely useless kick. Just works if you just want make points in a competition.
How to make hayer
Aren't you supposed to pivot 180 degrees?
Not necessarily, it depends on how high you are trying to kick. For higher kicks you want to open up the hips more so for high kicks the standing foot needs to turn more closer to 180 degrees. But you are right in that even for lower kicks you *can* also pivot 180, just it isn't as necessary and it would make your kick slower to complete.
@@Mindhumble Holdup but i dont think the reason we pivot is only for speed or height its also for power even thought you're right, it does differ for what you're doing. For example, a poom sae round house kick will be different from a roundhouse when you're speed kicking.
yes you are right. The pivot, however, is needed for any kick, but the question is what you are trying to achieve. In sparring for example you have to estimate whether it you have time for the slightly slower high roundhouse where the pivot will lock you in place fractionally longer, or go for a body kick where you could fake out or follow with a combination flurry. In poomsae i would say the main thing is form, so a full 180 pivot is appropriate there.
@@Mindhumble true true
And that is how you turn into chuck norris
We call that 45 kick (body level) and roundhouse kick (head level)
How can I kick higher
Do leg stretching exercises.
