- We have shared so many videos over the last year of our lives in Texas, including the move to Tennessee. However, we never actually went over WHY we chose to move to Tennessee in particular. So here it is, the top 5 reasons why we chose to move to Tennessee.
If you don't follow us on Instagram, we invite you to do so. We post to stories every day, things that aren't RUclips content worthy, but there are some hilarious moments in the in-between.

I was originally watching your video about your Bible curriculum choices and felt like I could relate so much to what you were saying. I chose to look through your other videos and saw that you moved to TN! We currently live in NV but have been praying for God to direct us to where we need to move to, for various reasons. Your video was yet another sign given by God and has finalized our decision to move there. We homeschool and plan on homesteading as well! Thank you for your videos! You have gained a new subscriber 💜
Hi Maddie! Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out 😊 Andrew and I went through the same thing as far as prayer and keeping our hearts still to see where God had planned for us to move. 3 years ago, if someone told us hey you should move to Tennessee, we wouldn’t have given it any thought. But before we moved here, we sat down and took a look at the map of the US and just started making a list of what was important to us for our family and lifestyle. Tennessee is beautiful and peaceful. We are so very happy here. I hope that ya’ll’s move is just what your family needs😊 thank you for subscribing! Just so you know, I have next years curriculum coming in as we speak, so hopefully with in the next two weeks I can get an updated video done to share 😊
Thank you for taking the time for sharing this information with us!
You are most welcome!
Just wanted to chime in that I am from TX, met my husband in HI (where we were married & where our kids were born), moved to Middle TN in 2016, & adore living in this beautiful part of the country! I love how much we have in common with you guys, as our kids are also half Asian and we are homeschoolers!😍
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing. My husband grew up in Honolulu, where did you meet your spouse?
Just found your channel and I really love that you took a leap of faith in moving to Tennessee. I'm currently in Commiefornia and am looking for a few acres to build as a future retirement homestead. For now, just looking for land, then build it up little by little every year for the next 5 or so years. Anyhow, love your journey, God bless you guys and I just subscribed 😊
Ahhh thank you so much for this video. We are about to have our first baby. We live in Austin and cannot wait to move to TN! The taxes here are outrageous and the traffic is exponentially worse than it was. I can’t even get started on the public school system here. My husband is German and cannot stand the heat here anymore and is miserable. We are so looking forward to leaving!
The hottest it got this summer was barely 90! We were so very happy about this. And yes, taxes in TX are so unreasonable. I hope that you move goes well and the birth of your first child is filled with joy 😊
I found your channel from a homeschooling search...now I've watched most your videos! lol
I agree 100% with everything you said in this video. I have lived my entire life within 40 miles of Ft Worth...I WISH I could move and Tennessee has always been the place I wanted to move. The older I get the more I stay inside...its either too hot (mostly), raging allergies, or freezing! I look forward to seeing more of what your family is doing in TN. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Hi Dana 😀 thank you for watching our videos and most importantly, engaging in conversation! This is what we are here for. I feel for you with the hot hot heat. It’s definitely difficult to get out and do something when it feels like the sun has a personal vendetta against you lol. Maybe you could plan a trip just for yourself to Tennessee just to see how you like it. I’m so happy you introduce yourself. Let us know what you want to see more of in the future!
I moved from Illinois (horrible snow and cold for 6-7 months) to beautiful climate Tennessee! I love it but funny you say Texas was hot because Tennessee is pretty freakin hot 🔥 also. Real feel many days of 110-115 degrees! I knew the south was flamin in the summer but nothing compared to the treacherous depressing winters of Illinois. So much to do here and you feel so free from government overreach. People in our community are so sweet and we all help each other out. A house is definitely affordable here which I'm so enjoying !! Love Tennessee ❤️!
I love this for you guys! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you guys ♡ so much love 💕
What made you decide on Tennessee over Wyoming or Idaho? Curious because all these are on my radar. Thanks in advance 👍
Just found your channel. Thanks for sharing your journey. My daughter and her fam are moving to Texas in a few months. We’re Californians. Been here our whole lives. They want me to move to Texas also, but I’ve secretly been looking at properties in Tennessee. Not sure I’m gonna like the climate in Texas.
So my plan is to invest in a property in Tennessee, stay close to fam in Texas and wait. 😁
Also, had to play w the volume level and rewind several times. Was a bit difficult to catch all of what you were saying. Maybe adjust mic and keep voice up and level. Other than that, great content and thanks again for sharing. New follower 👍🏼
Thank you
You are welcome!
I can totally see Tennesseans welcoming a family from Texas with open arms. ❤from Houston
Hopefully will be out there in a couple months from Arizona. Looking in the Johnson City area.
Johnson City has great properties with a ton of land available. I’ll never forget this one fixer upper that had about 66 acres to it.
@@FamiLeeLiving we just purchased the home in Elizabethton hopefully all will work out great. 😁🤞
Congratulations!!
Thank you for this video! I am a fellow Texan and plan to move to Middle Tennessee in a few years! I'm super excited about it!
That’s awesome! I’m glad to hear this video was helpful. Come join a similar southern feel with much cooler weather! Also if you love scenery of outdoors, you’ll fall in love with it like we did.
Found your channel because we’re currently in TX looking at TN. It’s becoming so crowded here and we want to live somewhere we can be self sufficient in case shit hits the fan ( which we’ve seen here in Tx with the pandemic and the winter storms, etc).
My question for y’all is- which towns in east /NE TN are safe to live, and are more conservative? Thanks :)
Ok all my new transplant friends in Tennessee! I am trying to discern what part of Tenn may have mountain views and lakes for scenery my housebound daughter can enjoy if we find a house of course….ideas?
East Tennessee is your best mountain view 😊
We live in central NJ and plan to retire NOT here in 8-10 years. No family to consider, so NE TEnnessee is top on the list. The rural areas around Johnson City are gorgeous and tornadoes don’t travel that far (rarely). Same planting zone of 6 and the people were just so welcoming. I know I should also see other states like VA, NC and even PA, I really don’t want to! I want to keep going back to TN. I hope they start recycling by the time we get there. That’s the only part that bothers me!
WHat town did you end up choosing in TN ?
Watching the vid and reading some of the comments this is just beyond my mind set. My family lives in Texas. My aunt & one cousin just built homes in Paradise Tx. The rest live all around Dallas, Ft. Worth. My wife and I were looking at a 14 acre parcel in Paradise but at the last minute decide not to buy. Just by chance a few months ago, call it divine intervention, for some reason I started searching Tennessee. When your whole focus is suddenly redirected and you question where did this come from. I'm moving to Texas where my family is and you keep being nudged the other way well let just say I don't want to end up in the belly of a land whale....I've been in californis since 69 and I'm just tired of it. I want seasons but not harsh winters, The tax's are great and you are spot on when we looked at the property taxes we almost fainted. That why we were looking for 6 plus acres to get the agricultural exemption Texas upped it from 5 to 6 acres I believe last year. So looking to Tennessee I'll be happy with 5 plus. I want chickens for eggs and food I'd like to raise a heffer to stock the freezer and I just might get me some wild game. One property i am looking at has wild turkey plus other wild game, Oh boy. I totally get it I personally retired at 50 so I want to be rural but still close enough for hospitals. where i live now I'm 20+ minutes to anything so I'm good with that but I love mountain and Texas aint got mountains. Tennessee is absolutely beautiful. Bless you wish you well I know sometime this year Ill buy some land then it's time to start the build for the rest of my life..
OMG we are in Texas too, and talk about moving to Tennessee all the time!
What area in TX are you in? Curious why you would want to move.
@@nellybelly623 you moving to TX?
@@Jared-th7jv considering it.
@@nellybelly623 well I been in DFW area for about 3 months so far. The housing market is on fire right now. Weather is very bipolar. I think it's a good place to move though.
Texas was found by Tennesseans. One in the same. Welcome
We’re moving there as well, which city did you pick?
Hi! We moved to Crossville Tennessee. We love how quiet it is. It’s in between Nashville and Knoxville if we ever wanted to visit. It is a community that still puts up posters supporting local schools and the students achievements. We love it here.
@@FamiLeeLiving thanks! That’s exactly what we’re looking for, can’t wait to get out of Oregon. We’re trying to make a trip there in aug and put our house up for sale in Sep. we’re trying to narrow down a handful of towns to get a feel for. We want around 5 acres, somewhere really pretty, not expensive but not poor. Are there any other cities you considered or would recommend. We thought Soddy Daisy looked beautiful. Do you know a trustworthy real estate agent? So glad your enjoying your move
We definitely understand how y’all feel. We hope that you find what you are looking for. I can say that the more East Tennessee you go, there is a little less competition as far as the housing market goes. The land is also a bit better because it’s closer to the Rocky Mountains. Happy house hunting!
FamiLee Living how far is crossville from knocksville?
Hi! It takes us about one hour to drive to Knoxville when there is a little bit of traffic.
Volume????
I turned on captions or would have had to wait till I got home to the computer.
My family and I want to move to Tennessee, to get out of California. Plus I have family in Tennessee
Welcome to Tennessee
Thank you 😊
Glad yo7 like the state - but this is my greatest fear - If people kept moving here - we will lose our southern heritage and language and become over priced crowed and worst of - No more freedom - land will become to high and the locals that were born and raised here will be priced out of their homes - And we will lose our conservative State - So worried - about my way of life
I moved to Tennessee because of the conservative values and cost of living so I'm with you girlfriend on those fears because I love Tennessee and always have and moving sucks !! Unfortunately our fears are happening in the Nashville area where homes are becoming too expensive and bringing in left liberal politics. One of the reasons I moved here was Tennessee is a solid red state. Nashville is definitely becoming a threat to our way of life 😢. I wish people would move to where they support their political beliefs and not taint other states who value different than there's and try to change it
There are almost as many cars in Nashville with Texas license plates as there are with California license plates. I hope at least one Texan moving here is an expert with real Texas brisket. None of the places in this area make it the real way like one would find at Kreuz.
FYI, this audio is horrible. Thanks for the content tho.
Thanks for the feedback! We have been actively working on getting better.
