It actually says in the rules that “reveal your ballot cards simultaneously, so that everyone’s vote is public” that’s how we play it and i think it’s better because then you can question people on why they vote like they do.
Yeah cause otherwise if you dont vote together, the last one could change their vote on the spot and change the result if it's 4 vs 3 for example. I played a couple matches with my friends and they wouldnt realize why ballot cards have to be uncovered simultaneously XD
Traceability of voters favours the liberals, anonymous voting favours the fascists.. Even number of players favours liberals, odd numbers favours fascists. To balance play, even players - std. rules..... odd players, no voterID required! / votes can be counted through the night after opposition election auditors have been sent home due to flood ;-) Ultimately, not having to provide VoterID makes is more interesting although it is a massive boost for the fascists! LIke in real life if you don't believe the media!

When it comes to playing board games, I am Rhop.
They played in what I call: "The Fascist and the Furious"
Typically when electing Chancellor, people's votes are public instead of anonymous. In this way it allows the other players to better assess where another player's loyalties lie, and it makes the Fascists have to think more carefully on how they vote because too many Neins for people who are Liberal, or too many Jas for people suspected to be Fascist, could make the others suspect you.
Alternatively, you could play "The Fascist and the Furious" in which Fascists have to worry WAAAAAYYYY less about how they vote because nobody knows that you're the one voting Nein for the person who has proven time and time again that they are Liberal. it makes the game supremely difficult for Liberals and throws the game so far off balance it's almost down completely to luck in order for Liberals to win

honestly ive had this happen in the first game, one of our friends girlfriend brought her younger brother, first time ever meeting him, at the end a lot of people were just face palming he basically threw the game, so i feel calvins pain lol ive been there

When Shane asks within the first 6 minutes what the vote is based on, he totally gave away the fact that he's not a Fascist.
I think you should not make the votes anonymous , the voting gives so much information
and you can learn alot by who the person votes for
The game is designed and balanced around votes being public and giving this kind of information. With just the policies, it would be much less 'social deduction' and more 'blind guessing'.
I agree, I also think secret hitler is a game that also gets better the more you play it
because you start to create strategies
one time in a game a facist player gave me two blues and then later stated he gave me a choice, I instantly called him out on it
and he responded with why would I lie about giving you a choice
he basically made me seem crazy so he could put the bullet in my head
That's definitely a tactic I haven't seen yet, but a great example why a good mix of "social" and "deduction" is important for a fun game. If it's just about being the best liar it's not much of a game and if it's pure mechanism it's not much fun.
I got a feeling Sheriff of Nottingham would go over well with them, though even with expansion it only goes up to 6 players.

Honestly, I agree with the big guy. Nobody should be allowed to ask other people to swear that they’re liberal or to say I’ll give you money if I’m lying or anything like that. That just ruins the game.
