I am in the process of doing over a 1947 Farmall C. You did a great job of showing how to rebuild a Farmall Touch Control. Your video was an excellent reference source for me. Thank you for your time and effort. SGN
The back on mine is very hard to come off as well. There is a Allen screw in the back I was not sure if that was a problem. Thank you so for making these videos. I have a far mall Super A trying to bring back to life after about 20 years of resting in a shed.
Thank you for your work on this, we just completed our rebuild. We studied your video several times. It went just as you have shown. Our gasket/ring kit had two head gaskets; one thicker and one thinner. It took us a while but finally noticed some slight differences in the bore of two of the bushings. I believe it was the pressure release valve. The Harbor Freight slide hammer was perfect for the job too and came in handy. Again thank you!
Thanks for the subscription. I have plans to do a lot of videos in the near future. I have a lot of tractors go through my shop but is just have not been taking the time to make videos.
Yes it is held in by the four bolts on the left hand side near the bottom of the box. It is a square flang with four bats and the filter slides out. The filter is a metal mesh and can be washed out and reinstalled. Let me know what you find.
Mine won't raise and lower like it should,it has oil in it. It makes a sound like the pump is cavitating sometimes and If i stand on the hitch it will lift and lower sometimes. Need rebuilt?
It could be your filter clogged up, the relief valve sticking or the pump its self. Check your filter first. The I would put a gage on the manifold and check the pressure. I have all the parts available at reasonable prices and also have a dyno stand I built in my shop to test these boxes on. I am interested in helping you any way I can.
Ok mine is the single piston type and I had to take the unit of the tractor to get to the filter. The filter was clean. I took the head off, but not the bottom plate which sits on the tractor frame. Is the relief valve under the bottom where that plate is? It worked a little after I put it back, then it will sometimes not respond at all. I can pick up on the lift sometimes and it will work, but is weak. Everything that I could get to under the head I cleaned but it wasnt dirty actually. P.S. if i took the dash off i could have took the head off without taking unit off.
Is your box on a cub? It would have been great to have checked the pump pressure prior to taking it apart. You could put it back together and check the pressure. If you are interested I can do a video on how to test the pressure on the pump. I sell the cub boxes rebuilt for 250 with exchange I think I should have a core at the shop to rebuild and can just trade with you. You can also take your pump off an send it to me and I can bench test it. I would start by testing the pump first. If you would like I can also bench test your box. Let me know how I can help you.
MRBOATWRIGHTS, I have the head off the touch control block and I need to remove the 2 main pistons, do I just pound them out with a rubber hammer out through the bottom? Thanks for your help! Denny
Mr. Boatwright, those of us that live in the flyover country are proud of you helping us. Thanks so much!
I rebuild them for the public and have parts also if I can help you in any way let me know.

Thanks for the touch control rebuild videos. This is a job I have been a little nervous about tackling because there are so many pieces.

yeah a vid would be great to check pressure.
I will tried to make a video in the next day or so and post it. I will go into details on what to look for when diagnosing these lift boxes.
ok thank you sir.

Denny Crotty You have to take the lift arms off and then you just knock them out with a rubber or brass hammer. They come out the side with the head.
Also the pump is in good shape.
