VR Troopers was a very loose adaptation of Super Human Machine Metalder, and Dimensional warrior Spielban, for the first season, and Space Sheriff Shaider for season 2, three very different, and unconnected seasons of the Japanese super hero franchise Metal Heroes, which is why only Kaitlin and JB actually interact with each other in battle since their fight footage comes from Spielban, and Ryan’s footage initially comes from the 39 episode long Metalder, though they later switched to footage from Shaider and justified the change in universe, Big Bad Beetleborgs uses the suits from the metal heroes shows B-Fighter (or beetle fighter,) and B-Fighter Kabuto, for season 2, utilising a mixture of original footage and footage from B-Fighter and B-Fighter Kabuto. Metal heroes is a series that ended in 1996, produced and created by Toei, (the people who gave us Super Sentai which you might recognise since it became Power Rangers in the West, and Kamen Rider.)

Back in the 90's after Power Rangers was such a hit Saban went on a spree of trying other Tokusatsu shows of the time..the ones you mentioned and of course Kamen Rider, known as Masked Rider over here, which was based off Kamen Rider Black RX..it..didn't go well for Kamen Rider..they even tried a Power Rangers cross over comic but it still didn't help. Kamen Rider wouldn't be seen again in the states until they tried again in the waning days of Saturday morning shows with Kamen Rider Dragon Knight..again..timing and Power Rangers overwhelming presence did NOT help it. I think of them all Big Bad Beetle Borgs did the best of the "Power Ranger Clones" of the 90's as far as staying power went..they even tried a Western version of Gridman..basically Ultraman but in computers..called Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad..it did..okay..ish..I enjoyed it, though that probably had more to do with the toys, the action..and getting Tim Curry to voice the main villain Kilo Khan.

VR Troopers was great, especially when it got all Vader and Luke with Ivar and the team leader. That was the melodrama I was looking for when I was 10. And then of course you had your monster of the week fight scenes. It was all really goofy but compelling stuff. If your favorite season of Power Rangers is In Space, you'll love VR Troopers

Well Power rangers arent original either, its actually a japanese show called "Super Sentai". Power Rangers would use footage from the japanese show most of the times (except of course from the actors) and they would save budget this way. And although I grew up with Power rangers, specifically Power Rangers in Space. I find majority of Super Sentai better than Power Rangers.

The Virtual Boy is awful, but a few of the games were pretty good. If that robot fighter game or the Wario game were on literally any other system, they would have been considered pretty cool and wouldn't get pumped in with a box of pure headache.
