The most under rated blues player, in the history of the blues. All the modern day players would challenge buddy, and he would send them home humbled. Keep in mind, he was 66 years old, 20 years ago.
So much emotion in his voice- sad and pleading; so much pain and anger at his fingertips. Absolutely perfect. The drums and bass are 110%, but somewhat overwhelmed by the guitar attacks. Best ever
I got to play buddy's guitar around 1990 at the El Macombo in Toronto. Man I'll never forget that night. I was hittin the strings with a drum stick and he was playing the cords.
Thank the guitar gods that Buddy has remained with us for all these years. I just hope he understands and realizes how much he means to music lovers for all these years. Go Buddy Go!
This ferocious overplaying and rushing the beat (the bane of so many would-be blues players) shouldn't work - but it does somehow. It has incredible feel and inventiveness. There is a video of Jimi Hendrix watching Buddy Guy play like this, and Jimi just breaks into a grin as Buddy takes it way over the top and beyond. Righteous!
this is the opening song to the first Buddy album i heard.when i bought it..Stone Crazy.. i have bought lots more..been listening to Sweet Tea lately..love it after a good smoke..Rhythm And Blues is fuckin Buddy classic too
Like BB King said, Buddy plays the blues in a rock n roll way, manner. That is what the rolling stones have always tried to do also and all rock and rollers also. Buddy Guy one of the very best.
Sooo..this is where shredding wuz borne!!!.....this is vintage Buddy! Straight outta the amp into a small prob fender baseman pushed to its limits..look ma !no pedals! Thanks fer this rare gem..lilhotboy247
I came here from the Sega CD game Snatcher. One of the Japanese developers left a hidden message in the game as an eastern egg, quoting the opening lyrics and saying something to the player character like “Oh, you’re a Buddy Guy fan as well?”
The master just the master Buddy Guy yes Jimi Hendrix used to sit outside of the Buddy Guy concert and record and watch buddy play so that Jimmy could figure out those notes those licks everybody from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Carlos Santana Keith Richards Ronnie Wood Jeff Beck they all say buddy is the man and I agree Buddy Guy
Jeff Gomilla now that the King and Muddy have both left us I vote the crown and throne of the blues goesto Buddy. Therefore it's only fitting his sceptre should be Lucille!!!
I bought an Alligator Label vinyl in the 80,s called Stone Crazy , this number was on there, musta played it a 1000 times. This is The Real Deal Blues. Saw BG live at Chastain Park Atlanta about 20 years ago. Stood about 25 feet from him for a few songs and i was blown away by this awesome Bluesman, Amen!
This song changed my whole feel of guitar playing !! This is the meanest Blues player when he goes off....and then that sweet voice.....True Legend !!! . Check out some of my Buddy vids ... All comments welcome....
"I Smell A Rat" I think I smell a rat in my house, baby I believe you got just too late Aw, I smell a rat, I smell a rat in my house, honey, I think you walkin' 'round too late You know I need a rat in my house like this now, just like I need a hole in my head You cry baby you afraid at night, you say you can't stay home all alone Oh you said you afraid, afraid to stay home at night, you say you didn't want to be home alone Oh, but I can smell a rat in the time I get back, and all, and all you do is gonna make me moan You got my backdoor wide open, baby you say you're supposed to be afraid You got my backdoor wide open, and you tell me you're supposed to be afraid You know the last time I slept with it opened, you know 'was so cold I almost lost my head Sometime I think you're foolin' me baby, and I do believe it's just drivin' me around Sometime I think you're foolin' me baby, honey I think you're just drivin' me around Why don't you leave me alone woman, you know I think there's another women I can go, I can be found I think that you have it to explain. honey I'm not that hard to understand Did you ever try to sit down and explain, I am not that hard to understand You will be sleeping with the backdoor open, baby or with another man You're so good, I don't believe I wanna leave you alone Oh you're so sweet to me, I don't believe, I can leave you alone Stayin', and peepin' like you got a woman, and try to make me, all happy
Dont do it lol, we grew up on different era, heard different music growing up. Our mind arent the same. You cant appreciate their music the way they do , just as they cant appreciate your music the way you do. Just respect every eras of music
Buddy stomped on the wah wah pedal 20yrs before any knew who Jimi was. His producers told him that sound was too strong for commercial music....Alot of greats loved Buddy and cited him as a big influence..Jimi and Stevie Ray are just two of them,,,,,and two of the very best. they are the Mt Rushmore of guitar
the solo guitar rushes in right from the start, as if there's no tomorrow, and from there on ebbs & tides as if under 3 full moons. All the while the bass is providing the backbone of a full-sized anaconda..
Check the local talent at the casinos re: Tunica and Robinsonville Mississippi. just south of Memphis!! Lots of big names play there as well. Gene Weaver
Buddy is the last original bluesman, inspiration to Hendrix and many others. Still has the talent and ability if you get the chance to see him live. Are you having a laugh who the hell is Mikey D ?
You're living in a world where this would have a bajillion views if he teamed up with Lady Ga Ga, LOL! Thankfully, great music like this has been made!
I just stumbled upon this tonight. Damn!! This is the best blues guitar playing I've ever heard in my life!!!
Saw Buddy Live in the streets of Detroit. Salute to a Legend of the game!

innertubez And when Buddy makes it up there, Heaven will have one Hell of a party!
Yes Sir
I always saw them in equal lives of times to writings of their souls. Feed in the same.
I bet they both would agree!
I came here from the Sega CD game Snatcher. One of the Japanese developers left a hidden message in the game as an eastern egg, quoting the opening lyrics and saying something to the player character like “Oh, you’re a Buddy Guy fan as well?”

"I Smell A Rat"
I think I smell a rat in my house, baby I believe you got just too late
Aw, I smell a rat, I smell a rat in my house, honey, I think you walkin' 'round too late
You know I need a rat in my house like this now, just like I need a hole in my head
You cry baby you afraid at night, you say you can't stay home all alone
Oh you said you afraid, afraid to stay home at night, you say you didn't want to be home alone
Oh, but I can smell a rat in the time I get back, and all, and all you do is gonna make me moan
You got my backdoor wide open, baby you say you're supposed to be afraid
You got my backdoor wide open, and you tell me you're supposed to be afraid
You know the last time I slept with it opened, you know 'was so cold I almost lost my head
Sometime I think you're foolin' me baby, and I do believe it's just drivin' me around
Sometime I think you're foolin' me baby, honey I think you're just drivin' me around
Why don't you leave me alone woman, you know I think there's another women I can go,
I can be found
I think that you have it to explain. honey I'm not that hard to understand
Did you ever try to sit down and explain, I am not that hard to understand
You will be sleeping with the backdoor open, baby or with another man
You're so good, I don't believe I wanna leave you alone
Oh you're so sweet to me, I don't believe, I can leave you alone
Stayin', and peepin' like you got a woman, and try to make me, all happy
