I try to do everything you tell me to do I hope I make it to college baseball and I’m 12 playing travel ball every weekend and I thank y’all for teaching me how to do this stuff
Not one video on long toes discusses the grip needed to achieve a "long toss." The grip and release point and angle is equally as important as body positioning and form. Maximizing the magnus effect on the ball is the key to making a truly long toss.
Yes please show more actual (full speed) demonstrations of the drills you teach. A lot of us are gonna need to see what to do in order to mirror it. BUT I love the channel man, please keep up the awesome info!
Trying to work my way up to longtoss, in the years i have not been too mobile in my hips and core, and sinds i started stretching different ways i created more mobility and i feel that really helps. Also going to try some of these tips, these are some really useful mechanics.
Any general rule of thumb how far you can throw and how fast it was? For instance if a kid throws 150 feet how fast is that in mph? I know there are other variables (wind speed, terrain slope, etc) just looking for mph ranges. Could be a cool video to test it.
The only one I know off the top of my head is if you can throw 350 feet, you can throw 90. There are some other variables that matter a whole lot, like trajectory and spin rate, but assuming your spin rate is around the average of 2000 and your trajectory falls between the average of 30 and 40 degrees, that’s about the velocity your arm is capable of producing
Hey coach, I was wondering if you can help me with something on my swing. I find that most of the time I swing, my bat angle is towards the opposite side of me. I can’t tell if I’m late on the ball, if I’m not extending my hands enough, or if I’m not keeping my arms closed. And this causes me to foul off a lot of ball to the opposite side of me, and to hit weak ground balls to the opposite side of me as well. Thank you!
I am a Catcher I long toss 3 days per week along with training my legs, shoulders, triceps, core, and forearms in the weight room. I'm throwing the ball consistently 245-260ft when I do my long toss. 4 months ago I was throwing 72-73mph down to 2nd and topped 74mph. I definitely feel like I'm throwing harder down to 2nd base now. I can throw 245-260ft consistently then how hard am I throwing mph wise?
I am following ALL of this and can only still throw 150ft in the air at my max and my arm hurts like heck after about 5 throws. I'm 18 years old and 6'3.5" and 155 lbs btw
A few days ago during practice, I was doing long toss and I was lined up behind home plate (throwing down the 3rd base foul line) and accidentally threw the ball over the fence. I felt bad for my partner, so I let him throw water balloons at my back as hard as possible.

Tryouts this week, good luck all.
God loves you
I can’t throw past 148 feet and I don’t know what grip to use please help me
Love your videos, but I always wish you would show the actual drill in full speed. Wanted to see Craig air out a few 300 ft tosses!
Seriously a demonstration would have been awesome
Can you make a video on what areas of the body to focus on when you lift to increase velo?
Core, Balance, Glutes
I appreciate you for asking some really good questions

how can i use long toss to prioritize leg use while throwing (teach myself to maximize leg use over arm)
Does this apply to fastpitch softball as well?

Your throwing about 78 mph if my math is correct
It's a good analogy about steph curry only problem being you can become better at shooting 3s by standing next to the basket and working on form
Great vid

My sister just clocked me on a speed gun app
I’m 14
I’m throwing in the 70-75mph range
Is that good?
yes very
speed gun apps on phones are very inaccurate, just be aware of that
How many times a week for 14 year to do long toss? Great video 👍🏽
