Oh proxies lol their arm is attached to the body and its no longer functional so ya, plus proxies isnt the hardest part, i mean no monsters were hard to be escaped proxies cant see but hears well, mutated squid cant go near lights so stay close to the lights if there's no lights just go to the nearest rock or cave it cant hurt you, jin yoshida can easily be escaped just keep looking at it, it'll make him watches you and walks for some second so you have time to run, but the robot girl, i still dont know how to escape that easily

Well, I'd say it accomplished being a story driven horror game very well. It had very defined areas with monsters, but even then, the atmosphere and little scares (such as flickering lights and general loudness of every action) made it very fun and feel as if you were exposed at all times to something from somewhere. However it certainly won't be the horror game for everyone, because there are certain games that can truly terrify you at any moment with no truly safe times or sequences.

i know this comment is a year old but i can’t agree more. akers is literally the main reason why i can’t touch the game again. i love the game so damn much, but it’s just so fucking scary to the point where i had to delete it after finding myself struggling to sleep because of it

This game messes with your head i swear. Has a lot of psychological themes in it like the whole ARK/continuity thing, people offing themselves because they believe in this ARK paradise, not to mention the ending was depressing just like the whole game. My life wasn't peaceful for a while after watching those playthroughs.

The game overs even gave me chills, the music, the sounds of the monsters, and even their movements and behaviors. Even the screen static (which I expect from frictional games) made my anxiety peak at times. I feel like this game managed to whip out an accurate form of insanity on some of the characters that’s you’re able to visually see. I would hate to be Simon in this situation, but he’s one of my favorite video game characters because of it. This game and Amnesia have genuinely made me terrified for the first time in a very long time, and this is coming from someone who loves horror games. I’ve downloaded SOMA again after some time and played through but Akers and Yoshida still made my heart pound lol. Really good, good game. The atmosphere is really intense, even when there are no threats around. The feeling of loneliness, and the feeling of relief every time you get to talk to Catherine... I really appreciated that the horror is not based in screamers, which I hate. And that ending that smashes in your chair, my goodness...

This works from really far away and with all the creatures at Site Theta. Found this out while hiding out in the storage near the cracked window. Wanted to distract him, took something out of the shelf, waited for the right moment and suddenly, he came rushing in, screaming. Repeated this many times after, because I find it hilarious to make him scream bloody gore from really far away by holding a stapler in my hand 😁 Experienced this in the PS4 version, btw. I don’t know what it is about Akers that made me completely horrified about him, but I felt those huge heart rate spikes whenever he got too close. None of the other monsters had done this to me up to this point in the game, but I have no idea why Akers just hits that right spot.
I used my galaxy brain to simply lock him in a room by disabling the power specifically to the doors of the room he was in. “CAN’T OPEN UNPOWERED DOORS DUMBASS!” I didn’t even know there was supposed to be a jump-scare after the elevator! He must’ve still been trapped lol
The funniest part is that the chase music was playing in the elevator chase sequence but he couldn’t escape💀 I was very proud of myself for pulling such a pro gamer move on him.

I used my galaxy brain to simply lock him in a room by disabling the power specifically to the doors of the room he was in.
“CAN’T OPEN UNPOWERED DOORS DUMBASS!”
I didn’t even know there was supposed to be a jump-scare after the elevator!
He must’ve still been trapped lol
The funniest part is that the chase music was playing in the elevator chase sequence but he couldn’t escape💀
I was very proud of myself for pulling such a pro gamer move on him.
