  • Hello everyone, in this video I am showing how I cut out scales for my neck knives out of micarta using my cnc. I design my files in fusion 360 and use my xcarve to cut them. Hopefully you enjoy it, and maybe even learn a thing or to.... and if so, please don't forget to hit that like button, and subscribe to the channel to see more!

    nice work!, could the omtech machine do any of that cut out or clean up on those scales? or too much time to set up?

      It wouldn't really be worth it. If I had my tool paths set up correctly, and run the second bit and tool path, they would have come out almost perfect.

    Nice!! What type of compound did you use to polish the micarta with?

    • @ReeseCustoms
      @ReeseCustoms  2 месяца назад

      Thank you! Since these are darker, it's just green compound. If this was a light color, I'd use automotive rubbing/polishing compound.

    • @ReeseCustoms
      @ReeseCustoms  2 года назад +1

      Yes, I also make rings out of this material! I have a video of that on my channel as well.

    I have a question. I have a Shirogorov F3 with a G 10 scales. These are scales that are over liners. The company that sells scales for my knife is in Russia and I cannot order anything from there. Cannot find scales anywhere else. The knife has a red G 10 backspace along with red accents around the pivot. Do you or do you know anybody that could make me a set of carbon fiber scales with red accents. If I would have to ship the knife to them that would be fine I will pay shipping cost of the labor and cost of any parts. I really love this knife and the action is phenomenal and that is why I want to keep this knife. Everybody’s like we’ll buy one with carbon fiber but I cannot afford that I am disabled veteran so I figure I set of scales would be the lesser of two evils.

      @@ReeseCustoms I believe that I have actually already set up an account with you. And sent you a message through your business. My name is Richard Hopkins and I will go ahead and do it again just in case. It’s just I don’t wanna get rid of a knife.
