My understanding was GW wanted to make a 40K strategy game, so they were working with Blizzard. Towards the end of development, GW decided to walk away from the deal, so Blizzard was like...well that's a lot of development time, let's not waste it. Change the name, just feature Imperium of Man, Zerg and Tau...but change their names and maybe their look a little. Drop the elves. And BAM, StarCraft was born.
TBH, I've played StarCraft since I was a kid and I've played the DoW games. Though I think the lore is much cooler in 40K, they never got the RTS part down quite right. DOW 1 was best. StarCraft feels really good, and I like the simplicity of the three races.
Would be happy to play it with you sometime if you're up for it.
By the way...internet cafe? I always saw those in movies but I never had any around me in STL so I thought they were a myth lol.
PS - Kerrigan...yes
Is false that something between blizzard and GW made a deal bc like most of the wh fandom you idiots believed the famous lie of the old fan forum saying that blizzard and gw made a contract or deal to make games which never happens bc it was invented by wh fans and most of the fandom and content creators believed ignorantly without investigating properly. Some advice boy, dont begin with stupid arguments of "copy, inspiration" bc GW didnt create any concept of fiction, besides it would be very hypocritial knowing how 40k started.
No, that is false. Warcraft was supposed to be a Warhammer Fantasy Game, not Starcraft. Starcraft was basically just a big middle finger for GW.
@@sagittariusa9012 I see articles saying both ways. One says the connection is false, the other says the rumor that they weren't connected is false. All we know is GW and Blizzard aren't talking about it.
@@Fallenangel0w0 "[Blizzard co-founder] Allen Adham hoped to obtain a license to the Warhammer universe to try to increase sales by brand recognition", Wyatt says. "Warhammer was a huge inspiration for the art-style of Warcraft, but a combination of factors, including a lack of traction on business terms and a fervent desire on the part of virtually everyone else on the development team (myself included) to control our own universe nixed any potential for a deal. We had already had terrible experiences working with DC Comics on "Death and Return of Superman" and "Justice League Task Force", and wanted no similar issues for our new game."
That is from Kotaku.
It's more like 40k directly just copied this. Think this came out in like 2007
Lol what a joke blizz ripped off whole ip...ya a joke
hahahahahaahaha like 40k was the ip most original of the fiction, you would have to be an idiot to think that way.
Now jokes asides 40k didnt create any concept of the fiction and neither did fantasy so it stupid to say Blizzard copied something from a company who didnt create even concepts. Both companies were inspired by DND, Dune, starshiptroopers, alien xenomorph, lord of the rings and more to create their universes. That lie that you ignorants fans write is invented by other wh fans around the 2000s who stupidly most of the 80% or 90% believed without investigating something and even content creators believed that lie.
@@Faladin85 40k the universe that born as a parody of every famous thing in the 80s and even recycled things from fantasy to sell more?? it must have been a big surprise
