She calls Sylvanus "Eyebrows". I have also seen her call Alexstrasza "Eyebrows" also. Pretty much any NE with big ass eyebrows is dubbed "Eyebrows", haha.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Sarah Kerrigan is voiced in SC2 by Tricia Helfer aka Number Six in Battlestar Galactica, EDI in Mass Effect 2 & 3, and Charlotte Richards in Lucifer. She replaced the original VA Glynnis Talken Campbell to massive fan outcry and disapproval. The worst part is Campbell was in the first reveal/teaser trailer voicing Kerrigan, and for unknown reasons was replaced. The most common theory is, because it was early 2010s, ActiBlizz was in their peak of profit and sales and seemed unstoppable. So Bobby Kotick and the execs just assumed "We have more money therefore buy bigger celebs, that will make us seem more serious/artistic/high quality". They have had a trend of approaching development in terms of "more $ spent = better product" (Their CGI work alone takes millions of dollars in the Blizzard catalogue of games). Course, the misguided beliefs n actions of Kotick and the execs are another topic (especially owing to the sexual assault/abuse/harassment/workplace induced suicide issues going on right now). Campbell's also known for being a historical romance author and composer in addition to her VA work. She did a variety characters in Diablo 1 & 2 as well as Dryad in WC3. The biggest complaints with Tricia's Kerrigan voice specifically was for many, her Kerrigan sounds VERY similar to her approach to EDI & Number 6 which....Kerrigan isn't a robot so it sounds strange. EDIT - I should mention, in fairness, that 'replace with celeb' trend is one that has infected animation/voice over work as a whole in the industry, not just ActiBlizz and games, and It was arguably started by Robin Williams and blew up thanks to Mike Myers and Shrek franchise. The difference is that Robin predicted it, and demanded Disney not advertise his name on Aladdin in order to not take away from the work of full time dedicated VO artists or other full time animation industry people...which Disney ignored. Shrek made a career out of advertising all their big name actor/actress roles, as did Ice Age. That's why we've started having long term career voice overs such as Mathew Lillard (Scooby Doo Shaggy), Grey Griffin (Scooby Doo Daphne) and more being replaced by sudden "up and coming"/"hot market" actors/actresses with no VO experience. Even Zendaya replaced Lola Bunny's long time VO actress for Space Jam 2 (Which her performance was widely criticized and the movie was a massive bomb as is). And Starcraft 2 is not the only video game to try and grab big name actors/actresses with little to no VO experience to add sales/interest to a game. There are certainly actors and actresses out there who *do* make a genuine career out of doing both live action *and* voiceover work (Alan Tudyk, Keith David, Kevin Conroy, Jack Black, Nathan Fillion, Mila Kunis, Mark Hamil to name a few) but sadly...even they sometimes are passed over for "celebrity casting choices".
@@EonofAeon Personally I prefer the new Karrigan voice. Karrigan as a character is also much better written in SC2 compared to the edgy bitch character that she is in the first game and Broodwars in my opinion
Big picture: Gross Aliens: We are gonna invade and consume all planets! Fancy Aliens: We are gonna stop gross aliens by destroying everything they touch. Oh, they are coming for humans? better destroy them too just to be safe! Humans (Terrans): yeah, we know there are two races of dangerous aliens out there to kill us. But first, let's have a civil war to settle who's in charge, because priorities!
Addendum: the civil war is between Mengsk, who lured the gross aliens to his political rivals and could possibly doom the human race, and Jim Raynor, who's basically Han Solo.
Just like real life. Climate change: I am here to make the planet uninhabitable for your grandchildren. COVID-19: Let just add my 5 cents. Humans (particularly Americans): yeah, we know we needed to act yesterday but let's first ensure that people can wave a confederate flag on their porch.
There's a book coming out January 26, 2021, about an interstellar object (object, as it couldn't be identified as an asteroid, comet, or other regular description) that entered the solar system and went by us. In case you're interested, because I heard about it yesterday, so I thought it was interesting to see this comment. To me, it may just be a rock from deeper out in space, but I like to think of the possibility that, maybe, this could be a sign. Some short clips from a video I saw on the subject was the author detailing that it couldn't be compared to other objects in our solar system, and that it had some sort of push to allow it to come by us. He compared the push it had to some sort of thruster or rocket that fell back to Earth a few months ago having a similar push due to light--suggesting 'light sails', just as we have wind to push our sails of a boat. He somehow tied that in. I don't know a lot, haven't read the book (it doesn't come out until tomorrow), but thought I'd leave this here for others to think about. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extraterrestrial:_The_First_Sign_of_Intelligent_Life_Beyond_Earth#:~:text=Extraterrestrial%3A%20The%20First%20Sign%20of%20Intelligent%20Life%20Beyond%20Earth%20(also,Harcourt%20on%2026%20January%202021.
Kerrigan is definitely a very Important Character (Some might say the most important) in Starcraft. She is far from beeing a damsel in distress or just the male heros accessoire, which is even cooler concidering the first game came out in the 90s. I have quickly and hopefully understandably summarised the most important parts of her Story in Starcraft She was an Elite operative who joined the Rebelion of a guy named Mengsk. For him she stole a device that would attract the Zerg (bug Aliens) and planted it on a world of the government they wanted to overthrow. But when the Zerg came, Mengsk didn't send ships to evac his troops and just left them there to die (though he could have gotten them out without too much of a risk). Thats when Kerrigans lover Jim Raynor and a few others split from Mengsk Rebelion. The Rebelion would eventually win the war and become the Dominion. Kerrigan wasn't killed but transformed into a Human-Zerg Hybrid. Fast forward through the War, the Protos (blue Alien guys) destroyed the Zerg Overmind (the creature that had total controll over the Zerg Hivemind) and Kerrigan took over the Zerg. Then she lay low for a while. Jim Raynor had sworn revenge against Mengsk and formed his own Rebelion. (The Dominion wasn't exactly a great regime) while fighting this Rebelion Kerrigan and the Zerg became more active again and Raynor was aproached by some unlikely allies (the son of Mengsk who wanted to end his fathers opressive rule) who helped him gather parts of a Relic left by the Creators of the universe that could turn Kerrigan back to a human. So he allied with Mengsk Jr. and the Dominion troops under his controll and went to the Zerg Homeworld, where he actually managed to turn Kerrigan back. But because bad guys are bad guys, Emperror Mengsk attacked the facility where his son, Raynor, Kerrigan and a huge chunk of Raynors Rebelion were. Raynor and Kerrigan tried to flee, but were seperated. Shortly later on the galactic news network he send a transmission that his troops had killed "Terrorist" leader Jim Raynor. Kerrigan swore revenge and went on a quest to kill Mengsk. During that time she reassembled the Zerg Swarm and got transformed back into her Zerg form (now stronger then ever). She eventually managed to free Raynor (who obviously wasn't dead) and kill Mengsk, but she also found out that Amon (one of those Creators of the universe and the one who had betrayed the others) had managed to come back to life and seeked to take controll of the Swarm to eradicate all life. That covers about everything about her you saw in this video. Kerrigan is kinda the chosen one and will ascend to godhood and kill Amon. If you are interested in the whole story, there are Videos on youtube where people cut together all cutscenes and important moments of the games into a makeshift movie.
@@HannaHsOverInvested And there is another female character in the game too, she's called Nova.. another Ghost Op just like Kerrigan who had her separate campaign in the SC2 Expansions
It was a 3 way main character thing between Sarah, Raynor and Artanis, Sarah just got the special treatment is all, while Raynor has the story build up and Artanis, the badass anime like fight sequences, and the best lines out of all 3 lol
Side note: Don't feel bad about being confused by this (or other games, like Warhammer 40K), because you have to remember that they're compressing into like 3 minutes a storyline that played out over an entire game with an average of 45+ hours of gameplay through campaigns covering all three main races (Terrans, Protoss, and Zerg). It's even worse with stuff like Warhammer 40K, since that's been running with dozens of books set in the universe, and lore within the tabletop game rules, for over THIRTY-THREE YEARS. If you have ANY interest in a series that has existed for a while, the best thing to do is focus on one aspect of it that piqued your interest, and just let yourself learn bit by bit over time as you digest the material and lore at your own pace.
Eric Maldonado By the way, Warhammer 40k lore its one of the most basic out there. Allow me to explain: - Orks are waaaaagh, Necrons are immortal, Tyranids are Zerg on steroids, Eldar are depraved space elves, Dark eldar are even more depraved space elves, Chaos are weirdo sadistic demonoid fellas, Tau are the less evil of all the lot, and they love long-range heavy firepower. Imperial Guard are FOR THE EMPRAH and Space Marines ( mainly Ultra marines ) are the poster boys of the entire franchise. Everyone its trying to kill each other and Imperial Guard and Space marines are defending a sorry excuse of a ruthless, fascist and despothic Earth far, far worse than North Korea ( Empire of Man ), that makes the Koprulu sector a Zen garden in comparison. Remember: Emperor its watching you.
I actually got into Warhammer because of Vermintide. My friends found it weird that I started there, but for me, it was a lot easier to get into. Vermintide hid the exposition through environmental storytelling and character banter brimming with personality. It was like listening to people who have lived real lives before shit went down. It was such an effective way to get you interested in a fiction at your own speed.
I still love the "hell it's about time" line from the first trailer as it cemented what the fans were feeling as they had waited so long for the second game
@@HannaHsOverInvested it's similar to someone trying to summarize every season of supernatural... it's a lot to cover... not as much as some other universes, like warcraft or 40k... but it can get rather complicated quickly
That video has its merits, but I definitely like this recap better: ruclips.net/video/SUp_EmnZyzY/видео.html though it does overlook some things. The benefit is that it contains slightly less word salad. For reference, this recap played as you were running the installer for StarCraft II back in 2010.
Short Recap of Kerrigan before she got captured by the Zerg: She was a Special Psi-Operative / Agent for a terrorist organisation (Sons of Korhal) that tried to overthrow the "terran confederacy" in the sector Jim Raynor ran into her, and they fell in love Later she planted a beacon on a human world - New Getysburg, that called the zerg for the "Sons of Korhal" The Sons-Leader, Mensk ditched her, and left her to die on that planet and used the Invasion to become Emporer of the human Dominion but instead of dying she got captured by the Zerg, and transformed unto the Queen of blades
On the other angle, Kerrigan was also partly responsible for killing Arcturus's mother and sister and decapitating his father. While he opted to use her in his rebellion against the Confederacy, he likely abandoned her at New Gettysburg as an act of vengeance for her killing his family.
And was "six" in Battlestar Galactica. Fun fact about the BSG cast. I was eating lunch at a table in a private lobby at a convention and there were not other open tables so the entire cast asked if they could sit with me. Six was far from my favorite character in the show but in person she was an absolute delight.
"Are they alive?" If you are looking at ANYTHING Zerg... yes, it is very much alive. That building. It's an organ. That stuff you build on? Circulatory and nervous system. That thing that sends units across the map? An asshole that can create worms vomiting out whatever went into the asshole or other worm's. Yes, everything is alive. And squirming. And probably covered in the same stuff from the Alien movies.
@Dyll fr never too late to get into Starcraft. If the first game is too old for your tastes, even with the remaster, the second one is amazing still on it's own too. You miss some bits but there is a recap of the 1st Starcraft at the start of Starcraft 2. Now if you don't enjoy real time strategy games that's a different thing. Heck, even watching just a story-movie here on youtube of it is worth it imho. Played through the game multiple times and still watch a Starcraft 2 Movie 4 hour vid on youtube on occasion. It's good.
@Dyll fr @Dyll fr haha, no problem! 👊🏻 hope ya enjoy it! gaming has sooo many good stories that you can watch like a movie for free on youtube! Just watched the new God of War again last night a second time.
Kerrigan is quite an interesting character as her role in this game overall is a big deal. She first starts as a human special ops person, who has psychic abilities and when her commander betrays her and leaves her for dead. The Zerg (the gross alien creatures), instead of killing her, they take her away and places her in a cocoon which transformed her into a creature like them. She served the Zerg until their leader was destroyed and then she took control of the swarm. She had a master plan to trick both the humans and the other aliens (the Protoss) into helping her do some stuff and ultimately betrayed them, thus enforcing her dominance in the galaxy. During these cinematics, she waged war against both humans and protoss for complete control, but the main human (Jim Raynor) managed to find an ancient artifact, that can stop her and transform her back to human. When she became human, she only wanted to get revenge on her former commander, who was the current ruler of the human colonies and to achieve that wish, she returned to the Zerg as their queen, but with a different, yet still brutal, mindset. Her human form was too weak to challenge the humans at that moment, so one of the Protoss (named Zeratul) took her to the original primordial homeworld of the Zerg creatures and there she was able to enter another cocoon to transform her into her alien form. When she came out, her power was even greater than before, but her mindset was still human and she wanted to get her vengeance, but the reasons for why she was take there by the alien Zeratul was because her psychic powers combined with the Zerg mutations unlocked a means to defeat an ancient and long forgotten enemy and she needed to be in that form, otherwise the galaxy would ultimately be destroyed by that enemy. That's mostly the gist of it, thou there is a bit more if you want the full spoilers of this whole story. Hope it makes a bit more sense (or if it didn't, well that's what the game is for, cause games in general have way more complex storylines than movies or even books sometimes :D )
"Why can't we just be friends instead?" Easy, story needs a conflict. The friends instead is the epilogue, it is a lesson that has to be learned to truly be appreciated. So the question isn't why, but more "When do we learn?" or as the song goes: "How many deaths will it take 'til he knows That too many people have died?". Another way to look at it is from the great dragon that many gamers know, Paarthurnax. He ponders over the good and evil and raises this question: “What is better? To be born good or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?” If one believes in the latter, then a story of conflict and war probably speaks to you, because here the characters can overcome their nature and in the end become friends instead. This was probably a way too serious take on a funny catchphrase, but then again you name is "Over Invested" so you must bear with your audience being it as well.
Can't we all be friends games do exist but they just don't have super compelling trailers, stuff like Stardew Valley is literally the 'let's be friends' simulator, but the trailer sure won't be as exciting as a story-based game with a bunch of conflict.
Kerrigan is probably the most important character in the Starcraft universe. As for other prominent female figuers, there's a lot of cool Protoss women for sure. The story in Starcraft 1 and it's expansion pack Brood War is really great, and has some good twists and turns. Starcraft 2 kinda retconned a few things, and turned the story into pure space opera, which is... fine I guess, not great, but it was entertaining enough.
The Protoss cinematic is the only one of the 3 that made me cry. I think it's because of all the fan service(The Archon combination, the Pylon being built, etc.)
@@Ramsteinrig Nothing beats the Cold Fusion cinematic from the first game! Edit: Corrected that Cold Fusion happens in the first game, not the expansion.
Sarah's story and character is one the best out there. Regardless if we are talking about male or female characters. It is well written and contrary to most female story arc's she is neither fragile nor weak. Hell she is the most powerful character in the SC universe. Now this is how you write a good hero character. But then again this was when female characters had depth (the few good ones that existed). Now female characters have power because muh' feminism and girl power. Sarah stood out as an awesome very powerful character in between other such characters. And she managed to outshine them. Not because the others were weak or dumb (common trope today is to make male characters retarded) but because she was just strong and smart and bad ass. I love her character! Wish we could see more like her!
Yeah and because she was ready to do whatever it takes . She sacrificed pretty much everything failed along the way nothing was given , even her extremely powerfull psionic was nothing but a problem for most of her life and she was under supressent , and she GAINED the few thing she held dear. Her relation with raynor is one of the best love story in culture imo
What? She is horridly written, just like the rest of starcraft 2. Literal mary sue god at the end and the fucking good guy too? Not to mention what they did to Reynor (he is weak and dumb), its like blizzard completely scrapped the end of brood war, does nobody remember "i'll be see'n you"? The whole game he spends SC2 crying about his girlfriend when he already resolved to kill her in brood war. The plot takes a fucking nosedive and that kerrigan= god shit was just terrible writing piled onto already bad writing. Amon and all that garbage was a mistake, the series that vowed to never become warcraft in space ended up exactly that. I've never seen anyone praise the plot after wings of liberty and I can't believe I just heard someone say she is one of the best out there. Starcraft and brood war had an pretty good plot but it was not one the of best in video games and if those games dont SC2 sure as hell doesnt either.
@@comradecommissar1945 " the series that vowed to never become warcraft in space ended up exactly that" It was always going to be that. Warcraft is a blatant ripoff of Warhammer Fantasy and Starcraft is a blatant ripoff of 40k. The two original products that Blizzard stole their ideas from were inexcerably entwined, and thus so were their bastard children; it's like inbreeding in a geneline with multiple recessive genes that lead to deformities, the results will be inevitable. The only significant difference is that Blizzard made things more palatable by removing the grimdark. All of the original Starcraft series could be a story about a human civilization that had not yet been brought under the Imperium or a rogue system, with the Protoss being replaced by the Eldar and Zerg by Tyranids. The only large missing factor is that there is no overwhelming Imperium, though it is arguable that Mengk's Dominion is a very shitty version of one. The main problem is that when you never have an original idea for your overall story arc, Blizzard, you shouldn't attempt to copy for people, GW, that use the same themes and ideas over and over again.
@@giuseppe9653 Just a guy who really likes SC1 and has played through all of SC2, barring Nova Covert Ops. You only really see these guys in a few missions of WoL's campaign, which is why I'm not surprised a lot of people mistook them for Ultralisks.
The black guy (with the dreads) is Tosh and, though he's a minor character, he's great. There's an awesome scene when he and Raynor bond over the fact they have no place in the future they're fighting for because they're both going to destroy themselves seeking revenge and that makes them monsters. Also, if Kerrigan reminds you of Charlotte from Lucifer it's because Tricia Helfer is Kerrigan's voice actress.
I think she was talking about General Warfield, as we didn't get to hear Tosh's voice in the videos, just saw his face. But Warfield's voice was there when Jim's forces went to Char
I kind of want to see an RTS game, but the objective is to love your opponents more. Like everyone has their own way of "making friends", like one group are the hippy/party types, and they "attack" the other teams with things like pot brownie bombs, and unleash gas weapons of weed smoke. Another faction would maybe make friends by...I dunno, doing sports stuff perhaps? They throw footballs at the "enemy" and the units hit, are compelled to join the game, or become spectators, and cheer. Basically just reskin all the attack actions into non-lethal, humorous things. Still an RTS "war" game, but more for laughs, and not focused on violence. I think that would be fun to play for some variety xD
@@ThanesTito well yeah sure, but that's nowhere near as amusing as an army of stoners, facing off against other goofy armies, and all trying to love/friendship the other side to victory.
12:46 "Hannah, this isn't real life either! It's a video game! Stop getting so stressed out!" I relate to all of this on so many levels. The decisions I have struggled with in RPGs...!
That just means you are a player who plays with immersion. Personally I never enjoy a game if it cannot bring me into it´s setting as a character having to deal with survival within it.
@@HannaHsOverInvested btw to answer your question why couldnt they got to her Its cause she was bringing something called psi emitter on that planet its basically advice that attracts creatures with psionic energy like zerg (bug aliens) and because zerg is a swarm they decided to let her and the planet die (dont remember if there was much more on the planet apart form her since its been long time) becuase there was about a billion zerg at the time if they didnt abandoned her they would all die and her part in the story would remain the same also what happened to her after that is that creature called Overmind (than leader of the swarm) ordered zerg to take her alive and he made her one of his cerebrates or I think other word would be lieutenants and she started calling herself "Queen of Blades" ~~~ I know I m late and hopefully you find this helpful if no one answered the question already
"why cant they be friends instead" well, humans are humans so they will always kill themselves the protoss(super tech advanced aliens) are like "well we can be friends if you dont interfere with our zerg-burning crusade" the zerg(cockroach aliens) are "unfriendable" for obvious reasons but anyways, good video, nice to watch these again with someone new to the franchise :)
The Protoss are also about: "Who are you to dare lecture me, I've treaded these galaxies for eons and know everything already, all scum unworthy of living" (that's the "extreme traditionalist" conclave's faction, which is at power before Aiur's fall as well)
Here's a little background on StarCraft's story. In the beginning there were the Xel'Naga, an ancient race of transdimensional beings responsible for cultivating life in each universe. Eventually, two species will emerge from each new universe, one pure of form and one pure of essence, who will eventually merge to become more Xel'Naga. The Zerg (the nasty beast aliens) are pure of essence and they are able to adapt and evolve their forms by consuming the genes of other life forms and incorporating the useful traits into themselves. The Protoss (the shiny elegant aliens) are pure of form and wield incredible psionic powers. One day, a Xel'Nage named Amon believed that their constant cycle of cultivating life from every universe was only causing pain and suffering where before there was serenity. So he decided he would put an end to the cycle by wiping out all life. He went to Aiur (the Protoss homeworld) and altered them. He gave them special appendages (the dreadlock looking things on the back of their heads) that would allow them to connect with one another in a sort of psuedo hive mind which the Protoss named the Khala and it is from this connection that most Protoss draw their psionic powers from. However, a faction of the Protoss didn't like having their thoughts and emotions laid bare before anyone who wanted to read their mind so they severed their nerve cords and cut themselves off from the Khala. They were branded as heretics for refusing this god given gift and banished from Aiur. When he saw his experiment with the Protoss had failed, Amon went to Zerus (homeworld of the Zerg) where he decided he would create the hive mind himself rather than let the species evolve into it. He took many Zerg and bound them to a single overriding will, a being known as the Overmind, and set the new "corrupted" Zerg on a warpath to destroy the Protoss and eventually consume everything in the universe. Humans kinda show up during the middle of this war and get caught in the crossfire. Zerg see them as food, Protoss see them as a barely intelligent race that will provide the Zerg with more genetic material so they want to kill the humans first, sorta. Then the humans out in the Koprulu Sector feel they can rule themselves better than the old Earth government (kinda like how the American Revolution was based on the idea that a governing body in some far off place isn't great at running things this far away from the capitol of said government, especially when the people have no say in what that government does). So the Sons of Korhal rebellion was formed, led by Arcturus Mengsk and James Raynor. During their civil war, Mengsk had developed a sort of psionic beacon that could be used to attract the Zerg Swarm to wherever he wanted and he used the Zerg to topple the Earth government in the sector. However, he left Sarah Kerrigan, a special ops soldier with psionic powers who Jimmy had fallen in love with, behind after she set up the beacon to attract the Zerg for Mengsk. This caused a falling out between Jimmy and Mengsk and eventually Mengsk would win his civil war and establish himself as emperor of the new Terran Dominion, which Jimmy would go on to rebel against. The Zerg Overmind had always known this war would be the death of the Zerg, but was unable to fight Amon's will. So it looked for ways to subvert it and found one when the Zerg captured Kerrigan after she was left to die. The Overmind infested her and turned her into a Terran-Zerg hybrid with the intention of having her become a leader of the Swarm free from Amon's will. But, some of Amon's influence corrupted Kerrigan as she was infested and when she emerged, she wasn't free from the desire to kill everything in the galaxy, but she wasn't shackled to Amon's will either. Eventually, the Protoss named Tassadar is able to kill the Overmind with the help of the Dark Templar (the heretics I mentioned before) and Kerrigan then stepped up to assume leadership over the Zerg. There are a few other things that happen in the first game, but this pretty much brings you up to speed for the start of StarCraft 2.
15:12 - You actually can "watch that movie." If you're interested, for your own sake and not necessarily as a reaction, channels like Gamer's Little Playground do Gameplay or Cinematic videos where all of the cutscenes are condensed into one video. That's how I experienced Starcraft II, as my twitch responses are not fast enough to enjoy the game.
"Are there any other female characters with agency?" there are, but the story mainly focuses on Jim raynor, Artanis, and ultimately Sarah Kerrigan. "how similar is her story to eyebrows?" Not very beyond the surface. Kerrigan ends up being far more sympathetic and likable vs just plain evil. I know this channel is mostly about trailers and stuff but people have thrown together some very well edited "movies" of the in game story that are really worth a watch if you wanna know the nitty-gritty details about kerrigan's journey through the game.
Terrans: Dr. Ariel Hanson, Mira Han, Nova Terra Zerg: Izsha, Zagara Protoss: Executor Selendis, Praetor Talis, Matriarchs Razsagal and Vorazun, Preserver Rohana

@@magus104 I mean, they were characters written at the same time 25 years ago by a legitimately small, indy company. The overlap is understandable, but they have gone lengths to try to differentiate the characters since SCII.
Eyebrows is a story about corruption, she get's even worse after she kills the man that made her undead. Kerrigan is about vengeance for a good bit. For instance that part where her love interest says "We went to hell and back to get you!". She basically says "Screw you! I'm killing Mensk, he left me for dead." I think she has the most agency I have ever seen ever. Even after they uncorrupt her from the hive mind (and put her on that white suit) she goes back to lead the Zerg! Her chapter in the game is all about her regaining her powers and retaking the zerg. It's pretty awesome.
Sara Kerrigan is essentially *the* story. There's a couple others such as Nova, she's a spy/assassin for the bad guys, Doctor Hansen is someone you rescue and then there's quite a few Protoss females that have major roles in their species.
I have not played Star Craft 2, but I have played Heroes of The Storm, and I like Sergeant Hammer and Lieutenant Morales there, have they any meaningful roles in the Star Craft game?
- Watches Starcraft 2 complete story: - Overwhelmed by the amount of information - 6.48 "ok guys this is a lot in 4 minutes" - Me: Good, now that we are done with the preface we can begin with Starcraft 2 Main Story
A side note about white and male in starcraft 2: The whole game plays in the Koprulu Sector which is far away from Earth and was settled by 3 crashed prison transporters. The only time they had contact with Earth was when Earth invaded the sector. With other words you are looking at a human faction/culture which developed from an isolated prison population, you are not looking at humanity as a whole.
overarching theme of this franchise: god like beings called xel'naga seed life in a universe, after millennia of evolution the races they gave life to are taken and merged with the xel'naga to become gods themselves and the process starts over again in another universe, this is known as 'the cycle'. humanity emerges as its own species separate from 'the cycle' and after some evolution humans have developed the ability to use psionic abilities, these particular humans are trained in the military as 'ghosts' sarah kerrigan was one such ghost and unknown to those around her was one of the strongest psionic warriors of the human race, hence why the zerg swarm took her and mutated her instead of killing her, she would later become the queen of blades with her only motivation being to find and kill mengsk for his betrayal. the protoss race were a very proud people, and that pride was their ultimate downfall, their society was based on a caste system and anything heretical was either killed or exiled which is why there are multiple factions within the protoss race, their overarching story is a bit complicated but suffice to say they had a civil war millennia ago and are now set in their ways. the zerg swarm is a race created by Amon, the dark god (think of him as the 'Lucifer' of this franchise), a fallen xel'naga he wants to see the cycle broken and he wants dominion over all life in the universe, ultimately it takes the entire remaining protoss as well as the zerg swarm under the control of kerrigan, and the terrans all working together to fight this threat. the voice of kerrigan is indeed the same actress as played charlotte in the tv show 'Lucifer', in terms of the reasoning behind what certain characters are doing and why they are doing the things they do, it's all explained in game as play through the campaign missions, even if you watch all the cutscenes you would still miss a lot of context from the actual game missions themselves. to answer your question about diversity, there are plenty of male/female/coloured characters in this franchise, many in leadership roles, the dark templar faction of the protoss for example is a matriarchal society and Vorazun is the leader of that faction (which is the faction that zeratul belongs to), you have gabriel tosh, a terran ghost who is basically jamaican, you have high executor selendis, she is right hand to Artanis the leader of the remaining free protoss, there's Nova another female ghost soldier similar to that of kerrigan, in terms of the zerg you of course have kerrigan, there's her broodmother lieutenant 'Zagara', there's a few other major female characters that are pivotal to the plot but and these are just a few of the characters that you would meet in the campaign.
Quick side note: the humans/terrans landed in this part of the galaxie by mistake. First, in the lore , the zerg and protos are "created" by the same god and are made to fight each other. Then a convoy a human ship take a wrong turn during light speed travel and end up in the middle of the fight. So the terrans/humans create they own empire "the terran dominion" and are in open rebellion with earth. while fighting the with zergs and protos..... Conclusion : in starcraft lore , shot first, ask after
"Nono more!" Make another cup of coffee, get comfy and watch one of the Starcraft 2 The Movie videos on RUclips. Order is Wings of Liberty >> Heart of the Swarm >> Legacy of the Void ...incase you need it.
It makes me happy knowing that Hanna wonders if kerrigan is the only female character of importance but she's actually the MOST IMPORTANT character of the series.
She asks: "Is Kerrigan the only girl featured?" Well there's Nova, also a Ghost like Kerrigan was, the Doctor.....and going forward we may need to expand the definition of "girl" like brood mothers in Heart of the Swarm and Selendis and the Dark Templar matriarch in Legacy of the Void (Do Protoss have gender?!?! Given them being pure of essence, how do they reproduce)
*TL: DR we don't know how they do it, but they do have women* Protoss for sure has females as they are mentioned multiple across starcraft 2 , but it's not clearly stated how they breed. We also know that Raszagal who died in SC1 was the mother of Vorazun a semi-minor character in SC2. The design of the Protoss would suggest they give birth because of the wider hips females have, but it could just be a design choice of the game designers to make them more human.
@@MegaHuntress Maybe they combine they essence thought time it born new one. It my theory about how they get their next gen. And I don't know why they event have gender in the first place.
nonono, they are purity of form. that doesn't really involve reproduction, it just means they had their dna redone or something by these alien gods called the xelnaga
@@adamnesico it's a good guess. but looking it up on the wiki, purity of form refers to a species with a high psionic potential. I think you're right on the essence part
Wow, I am impressed, I have played both campaigns (sc and sc2), several times, watched all cinematics as well, and You summed it up after few minutes, better than I would be able to do so. Nice work.
Ok, couldn't find a clearer explaination of everything in comment, so here mine: (not a native english speaker, sorry for misspelling and other things) in 24XX Humans (called terrans in the game) throw prisoners in space so they don't need to manage them. Ship go yolo in space, then they arrived in the Koprolu sector. Time pass, the prisoners are now established on some planet of the system. Peoples with psychic powers are trained and become ghost (psionics assassins basicaly) (Kerrigan is one of those). But some peoples hates the government so they start a revolution, lead in secret by Arcturus Mengsk. He find allies, basicaly Jim raynor, Sarah Kerrigan (and the player in Starcraft 1) and their troups. They find out that their is insects-like aliens (the zergs), that invade planet like ant invade your house if your ice cream fall on the floor. They run away and find that their is an other alien race (the protoss) that go on zerg invaded planet to burn it and sterilize it. Couldn't place it, but it's important for later, but Jim and Sarah fall in love for each other. Raynor discover that Mengsk have a plan which is place a thing that make zerg go "let's raid this fucking planet" on the governments planets, make them kill everyone, and look like the solution to the peoples. At the same time Mengsk give to Kerrigan the mission to put the thing on one planet, but what he didn't say is that it was a suicide mission (cf the cinematic where she ask for an evac, and Mengsk say "goodbye, bitch") Jim is pissed because his girlfriend as been killed by the man he help, so he decide to start an other revolution to kill Mengsk. BUT, kerrigan is not dead. In fact she is special, have psychic power way stronger that the classic ghost, the overmind (big hivemind of the zerg) found about it, and kidnaped her instead, and turn her in a zerg. Then, he tell her (and the player, as this time you play a cerebrate, an "overmind hotspot" that help him to keep control of the zerg, as they become eratic wild monster that kill each other without the control) to go find the native world of the Protoss to break their fighting spirit. She find where the planet is, the overmind teleport their and the protoss are fucked. But one protoss (Tassadar) decide to become a psychic bomb, hug the overmind, and kill himself and the overmind. Kerrigan is free, and her psychic power act as a cerebrate for the zerg so the ones in range are under her control. (Starcraft one, without DLC, and I throw away a lot of plot points) Terrans from earth arive on koprolu system and are here to say "We decide what is going on here" but Raynor and Mengsk say to them "Fuck off" At the same time surviving cerebrates merge into a new overmind, and Kerrigan try to stop it to "not become a slave anymore" (become queen of the zergs) Protoss try to flee on an other planet where it's a matriachy run by emo goth protoss. Terran from earth learn about the overmind, and find a way to control it. Kerrigan rally protoss and Terran to say fuck you to earth Terran and kill the overmind. Then she say fuck you to everyone and become the official BBEG. (SC1 DLC) Couldn't place it again, but in the game we learn about a god-like alien race, the Xel'nagas, that created zerg and protoss, and some high tech psychic artefact that can mess with things. And we learn that a darker BBEG want to merg zerg and protoss into a perfect race to destroy the universe basicaly. In SC2, 5 years pass, Raynor is still rebeling against Mengsk government, Protoss prepare to take back their native world, and zerg aren't realy active and we don't know why. Tikus, partner in crime of Jim Raynor, the guy lock in the armor, is given for mission to kill kerrigan to be free. He goes to he's friend, bulshit you into work to a scientific fondation (Mobius) to find Xel'naga artefacts. At the same time, Kerrigan wake up, and zergs mess with peoples again. Jim collect the artefact, and learn that they can make Kerrigan grea... human again. He also learn that she is the one girl that can save the universe from the dark BBEG, which is in fact Amon, dark Xel naga how want to destroy the universe (we don't know why). Raynor save his girlfriend, make her human again, kill Tikus when he find out that he want to kill her. We also see that she keeped her "zerg like" dreadlocks. (SC2 base) Kerrigan is in a scientific lab where they find out that she is still part zerg, and still can controll them (even if it less than before). We also learn that when she was almost full zerg, she was under the control of Amon, and so was the overmind. That why zerg were evil. Lab is attacked, she flee, but Raynor is supposedly killed. (By nova, an other ghost I couldn't speak about before because the comment is already too long, she is an asshole but for some reasons she is in my top 3 starcraft crush) Kerrigan say "fuck humanity, let's go back to zerg" take control of some zerg and find out about primordial (prehistorical) zergs. She learn that Amon corrupt most of the zerg to be slave, but those who hide are still alive, and are better than classic zerg at everything. So she goes there, turn back into a zerg (but now a primal zerg so she is the most powerfull zerg in the world). Then she learn that her boyfriend is not dead, but prisoner. She free him, but he reject her as she became a monster again. Then she reunite all the zerg, and go kill Mengsk. Somehow Raynor decide he his not an asshole, and say "well, you aren't a monster in your head so I still love you" and help her. They kill mengsk. (SC2 DLC1) Protoss take back their world, but Amon hack the Kala (a link between almost all protoss that is basicaly an hive mind without the "give up free will" part) and turn it under a true hive mind. Emo goth Protoss are immune to this as they cut this link to become Emo goth protoss, so they free some protoss. Artanis (The good protoss we play in this DLC) rally some protoss to free the enslaved ones. He also ally with Kerrigan to learn how to kill a god. After freeing the Protoss, Teran zerg and protoss go to the dark portal of doom (not the real name but kind of) to kill Amon. Kerrigan ascend to godhood, kill Amon, and everyone live happy ever after... Kind of (SC2 DLC2)
It is weird seeing Tychus spelled as Tikus. Is it just a "that's what it sounds like so that's how it should be spelled" moment or is it a translation difference?
@@rorp24 It's fine, I just found it jarring because it is in one of my favorite books to read. Heaven's Devils was about the backstory of Jimmy and Tychus.
Majority of these vids are less about understanding a story & more about just admiring how well the cutscenes were put together by the production company
Statistically speaking it is inevitable that life, even intelligent life, exists somewhere in the universe. But that said, due to the vast distances involved and astronomical (pun) amounts of energy needed to travel those distances, it is just as likely that they have never and will never visit the Earth.
Also ppl picture FTL travel as 1-2-3 LIGHTSPEED! People inside the spaceship would, like, instantly be vaporized. It would literally take years of acceleration and deceleration.
I don't agree. When a civilization starts to gather all the energy its closest star produces (becoming a Kardashev II civilization), the amount of energy needed will be pretty minuscule. Already today there are theoretical concepts for sending a probe to Alpha Centuari which would reach it within 20-30 years (at 15-20% light speed). Scientific discovery and technological innovation will most likely keep advancing. Given this it doesn't seem unlikely we (or our descendants) will start to colonize our galaxy in say 100 000 years and will then reach the other side of it within a million years after the process has started. A long time from a single human's perspective, but nothing from a cosmological. If intelligent life on other planets is common it is reasonable to suppose there existed plenty of civilizations 1-2 billion years ago in the Milky Way and that at least some of them would have started to colonize the galaxy. Which we haven't seen any signs of, nor of any KII civilizations, which seem paradoxical, and yes, that is the Fermi paradox.
@@Doktorn Ready to have your mind blown? It is physically impossible for space faring life to have existed before us. Why? Timing and gold. Gold: Gold being a soft, electrical conductive metal is pretty much required for computer technology. And computers to run advanced calculations are required for space travel. Without gold a civilization would be lucky to get radio, no matter how intelligent they are. Resource availability is also a crucial factor. Now it's important to note that gold can't form on planets. The formation of gold atoms requires heat and pressure that can only exist within a star. So for a world to have gold an entire "generation" of stars have to come into existence, forge gold within, die and go nova, and thus seed the surrounding area with gold. THEN that dust has to form slowly via gravity into planets, and THEN life has to evolve on those planets. This is a time scale of over ten billion years, at least, BEFORE any life has even the faintest hope of space travel. Time: Compare the age of the universe, with the average life span of a star, and the estimated time for intelligent life to evolve as seen on Earth, and you realize that the math only unfolds one way; we're the first. Or at least among the first. It's simple resources and time, combined with basic math. Our world is among the first generation of stars and planets for whom space travel is even a possibility. There is no billion/million year old alien race anywhere in the universe, and that galactic empire of planets will be ours. In ten thousand years, maybe, privative alien worlds will be visited by us. This is the solution to the Fermi paradox. Where are all the aliens? Stuck in the relative stone age on their own planets because they were part of a cosmic generation predating the resources needed for space travel. They were too early.
@@arkhamcreed4326 Interesting! I like hearing solutions to the paradox and solutions I've haven't heard about even more so! If you have any links I gladly take them! But I got to confess I'm quite skeptical to that explanation for several reasons. 1. I've read quite a lot regarding of possible solutions to the Fermi paradox and this is the first time I've heard of this one. That a random youtube commenter should have found the solution which everyone else has missed seem quite unlikely. 2. The amount of gold on earth is not insignificant. Most was here when the planet formed 4.5 billion years ago (correct me if I'm wrong). Life started at the latest 3.5 billion years ago, maybe even 4.2 billion years ago with the Cambrian explosion 541 million years ago and homo sapiens arising around 200 000 years ago. It seems reasonable to suppose other planets in the galaxy formed at the same as earth contains around the same amount of gold that earth does. A planet a billion years older might contain a little less on average, but not nothing. Cambrian explosion seem to be somewhat of a fluke (it might be we haven't grasped something essential, but from what we know now it seems the Cambrian could have happened a billion years before) and the same with the evolution of an intelligent species as humans. So if civilizations are common it seems very likely planets with as much gold if not more has existed for quite some time in the galaxy. 3. From what I know there is no estimated time for life to arise on a planet as we don't fully understand the process and we only have one object to use as comparison at the moment (earth if it wasn't obvious). Hard to draw statistical conclusions from one case. 4. While earth is quite early in the batch of earth like planets that will form in the time of the universe (in the first 10% of those that will form), there has existed plenty of earth like planets before earth. 5. While computers have gold in them today I don't think it is necessary (good against decay though). It should also be noted we are just at the beginning of the computer era and we will most likely see a lot of change in their design and it certainly don't appear super obvious to me we need to have gold in computers in a 500 years.
There are basically 3 story arcs, that the player of the game controls. One is mostly that of Jim Raynor (angst man) one is of the Protoss (science aliens) and one is of the Zerg, where Kerigan is the main protagonist with conflicted goals of invasion and consuming all life as zerg, and human feelings for Jim. So yes she has agency and is an actor with her own motivations, and about a third of the game is from her perspective, but the main framing device is still around Jim's wanting her back, so it's a little bit of good, but a little bit of meh... as far as representation is concerned.
She thinks he’s dead for a good portion of it and gets to do the action man crusade, except with absurd psionic powers and a massive swarm of aliens. Imagine John Wick but instead of gangsters its planets.
@@HannaHsOverInvested the proper story would be like that. first part is about raynor's rebellion and saving kerrigan, second part is kerrigan becoming zerg again but this time without losing her free will and getting revenge on mengsk(also raynor's rebellion wins and there is no more infighting among terrans), part 3 is about protoss trying to reclaim their homeworld of aiur, during attack most of protoss fell under control of the evil god amon, and rest of the story is basically everyone (and i mean litterally everyone, terran, zerg and protoss(so yeah, they all can be friends instead)) uniting to defeat the evil god amon, at the end of the story kerrigan becomes one of the gods and destroys amon.

12:37 no, Starcraft II is an RTS so when it's said "this person is doing something" it usually means said person and a group of people under said person, case and point Kerrigan was not alone down there, she had a small army with her, and the guy left them all behind
Kerrigan? Agency in the story? Short answer: yes, a lot. But those are the kind of things you learn by playing the game XD The whole second chapter is dedicated to her.
Is story really important in the game? Like, is it vital for the gameplay? Sorry, haven't really played any Starcraft, I thought it was an rts (am I completely wrong here?).
@@pawelzietek She is important for the story (like, daenerys targarien important), but since the story is not the core of the game, she is not vital important
When I played Starcraft 2, this first flashback video was pretty normal to me, cause I've played Starcraft 1. But watching it again with your perspective, I can see that it was a really big storm of information hahahaha
Even if intelligent life and all the things happening on and around a planet for that life to exist is a 1 in 100, 000, 000, 000 chance - it's mathematically impossible that we're the only ones in the universe. We probably won't ever discover one another, but there is for sure intelligent life out there other than ourselves.
It is funny that you mention math, because that is exactly what was used in an effort to estimate the probability of alien civilizations in what is called The Drake Equation. Later revisions combined with the Rare Earth hypothesis shows us that it is in fact not mathematically impossible, although many estimates suggest that there are other civilizations.
Tool using behaviors from other primates and complex adaptive behaviors from cetaceans indicate that we aren’t even the only intelligent life on this planet.
@@theodoremccarthy4438 That is a bit of a weird point. The earth has already developed complex enough life for intelligence, so it is not weird that it is shown in multiple species. This however is not an argument for intelligent aliens. Multicellular organism are a very special occurrence and may be an extremely rare one. This and other hurdles must be overcome for intelligent life to happen and the amount of intelligent life on earth does not tell us how hard or unlikely those hurdles are, as we are all descendants from the same ancestor.
@@Bronzescorpion why assume multicellular life is particularly rare? We find it almost every environment on earth which capable of supporting life at all.
4:21 I don't think I appreciated how convoluted the story line was until now, haha. StarCraft came out when I was in the 9th grade and it (and its subsequent versions) has ranked as a favorite game / story since. I've even read a bunch of the books.
Is there still hope that you'll one day react to Bricky's video about warhammer 40k, or the video you've watched + everyone telling you that it is about a universe at war made you not want to watch it ?
I dunno if someone explained this but Marine armor normally can be removed though the Marine being suited up is a special case (why he's special is story spoilers so I won't say it here), that said typical "in-combat" life time of a marine is hours so few get the chance to remove the armor. the Terran faction essentially uses reconditioned criminals as cannon fodder, with implants to make sure they don't turn on their commanders. Well not every single marine is a criminal but a lot of them are. EDIT:In regards to evacing Kerrigan, it wasn't just her it was full base she was in and it got overrun, could it have been possible to evac the base possibly we never get the chance, but Mensk really didn't care either all he cared as punishing the leaders of the Terrans before him and becoming a dictator of the Terrans no matter how many people died in the process.
A lot of your hunches to Kerrigan's story are very spot-on. Her origins are like Sylvanas, but she undergoes a character arc that is similar to Seven once she's regained her free will and is coming to grips with what that freedom means. StarCraft has a LOT of lore, as you can see, but StarCraft 2 has a lot of story and Kerrigan is a central figure throughout it with her and Jim Raynor being the two most prominent characters, followed by Zeratul and Artanis from the Protoss race. The recap of the first game that you watched didn't mention that the Protoss and Terrans (humans) aren't always enemies - our first encounter was hostile, as it was the Protoss working to contain the Zerg by wiping out human worlds, but both sides have worked together on several occasions throughout the series, so there are times that they get along. I hope the list your Discord gave you includes the Oblivion trailer for Legacy of the Void, it's done in the same manner as the last couple you watched and is a very good teaser. If the story piques your interest, maybe consider doing a reaction to the complete cutscene videos (check the list that a user named "wolfpawn" put in the poll comments, they've been checked to make sure they are complete). There are three of them and they're listed in order - each one is long enough to be broken into two videos and while there is some story that happens in non-cutscene moments, it will at least let you get the idea of how it plays out. Maybe one day they'll make a series of movies out of the franchise, the story is definitely there for it and the combined cutscene videos end up as long as a Lord of the Rings film.
Was kinda hoping this was a video of a non-gamer watching professional SC2 players play the game, in all their insane intensity. But this was dope, great vid!
@21:37 you are exactly right. the actress that played Charlotte in Lucifer is the same actor for Kerrigan, Tricia Helfer, she also played Caprica Six in the Battlestar Galatica series, and her portrayal of Kerrigan was so fantastic I have difficulty separating her voice from all her characters! Tricia IS all those characters!
So when Kerrigan was left behind she and others were planting devices to attract the Zerg to the destroy the human faction Kerrigan and the others were fighting against. If I recall correctly that is.
I think there are some overwatch origin stories left which you haven't seen yet. There is a playlist called "Overwatch ORIGIN Stories" on RUclips with most of the stories in it. You can skip the videos/stories which you have seen already.
first of all, i like your attitude. we are like a grain of sand in a desert... we can see 5cm far and think we are special. it's not about believing... it's about the odds. and the odds, that we are alone... it's soooooooo frightening. hundreds of billions of star systems... we can't be alone. but looking at the current attitude of humanity, i surely understand, why aliens wouldn't have made contact with us. 2-3years ago, there was a case of an ufo. it entered our space, stopped, turned and left. that's not something a comet could do.
What's even more interesting is the esports scene that came out of Starcraft. I'd love to see you react to some of the big tournaments and storylines behind the popular pro players. Also, the stuff Day9 did with it. Love the videos! Hellgate London would be another great one to watch stuff from!
12:36 The triggering incident there was that Mengsk not only abandoned Kerrigan, but they used a device to summon the Zerg swarm to the planet, causing the planet to be overrun. So while Kerrigan's death was the catalyst for Raynor leaving, it was less about heartache and more about seeing that Mengsk was willing to destroy whole planets and sacrifice close allies in order to make himself Emperor. Edit: I also want to add that up until that point in their civil war, Mengsk had been presenting himself as a liberator fighting against another totalitarian regime. Raynor had no idea that Mengsk was simply looking to replace the previous regime with his own.
Some background for Hannah: 1. They probably could go down for Kerrigan (it was a risk but a medium one). Mengsk (the guy who ordered to leave her behind) did that deliberately because he considered her expendable and had some personal gripes against her. 2. Those big infantry suits in Starcraft universe are removable... theoretically. However, they are typically worn for prolonged time because assembling and disassembling them takes quite some time. Marine recruits are either volunteers or (since there are never enough volunteers) convicts brainwashed to follow orders. They guy in the starting video is unique in that he's not brainwashed, his suit is instead permanently sealed until his mission is over (to keep him obedient).
Always happy to see some Starcraft! Also about "I don't wanna recap again because I'm embarrassed": I felt the same in my first time watching that video, and I played the games!
I love your reactions in just the first 10 minutes. I grew up on starcraft, so I know the story by heart, and everytime i play it and watch the cut scenes my heart races, so it is very cool to see a non gamer reacting to my favorite games!! I would have recommended you start with the first starcraft and go into the second, it makes more sense and gives more details for the next three episodes in starcraft 2 which is the ending for the first six episodes of the game!! But glad you enjoy doing this!! Subscribing!!
I just found your videos! these are amazing, and I now know how I sound trying to explain my fandom to people. Keep these up! It would be cool if you talked to other youtubers of these fandoms.
I would like to request a few videos for the list, all made by the same company “From Software.” Dark souls opening. Dark souls 2 opening. Dark souls 3 opening Bloodborne opening (different series) Sekiro (different series) That said the opening for Darkest Dungeon could also be really fun to watch.
Yeah, Hannah, that was Kerrigan. The Zerg, after they seized her, infested her. She went into a pupa stage (like a butterfly) and when she emerged, she had changed to become a hybrid of sorts and the Zerg's queen.
Found you on my recommended page reacting to SC2 which got me to watch as a long time player/fan. Seeing you legitimately get into the story once the info dump was over was awesome and I hope you do check out the cut scenes that people have compiled and put out on youtube as that will greatly fill in the gaps. I also appreciate that you're an author, and I am totally adding book 1 to my 'to-read' pile. I really look forward to your follow-up with the protoss.
I've played the campaign in both games, for your first time seeing it, you did pretty good haha. They condensed a lot of story into those trailers, and there are actually a few more for the 3rd campaign which almost ties up the first 2 in a neat little bow.
for the record on the summary: humans are caught inbetween aliens at war. The Zerg and the protoss hate each other and humans are just kinda... there...
I remember in high school, my physics teacher taught us about the Drake Equation which basically uses the estimated number of planets in our galaxy to estimate how many intelligent civilizations there are in the galaxy. According to our estimation, there should be around 7 including humanity. So out of several billions of planets, there are possibly 7 forms of intelligent life. *Note that the Drake Equation uses estimated averages for planets per star and then uses that to determine how many civilizations there may be and given its current unproveable nature, we can't determine if it is actually true and numbers may vary depending on what you plug into the Equation*
9:34 - "Is that stuff gonna be stuck in him forever?". Sadly, he dies in that armor x_x 12:23 - There were lots of ground forces left behind to die I think to cover up for Mensk. There was little danger in picking them up. You should definitely watch more, if you haven't already. Although, you might wanna watch them in order. Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm (Kerrigan's Story) and, Legacy of the Void. There's also the covert ops missions and I'm not sure if they even have cinematics but, it's about Nova. Another female commander.
Fun fact, the first starcraft game was originally designed to be a warhammer 40k title, but had got scrapped a little bit through. The zerg are a hungry hive mind with a main goal of consuming, evolving, and adapting. Hard to make friends with. The Protoss (more on them in the next three) are traditionally sharing thoughts and emotions by the Khala, their hair-like bits. Dark Templar Protoss severed their connection to this, leaving them separated from those they are connected to
If you want to know more about starcraft lore I’d recommend reading starcraft liberty’s crusade followed by starcraft queen of blades. Together they cover the bulk of the first games story. They’re both great reads
Kerrigan is probably the character with the most agency in the series. Her actions actually drive most of the story's major events and she tends to take proactive actions based on her goals, unlike some of the other characters (like Raynor) who tend to be much more passive/reactionary. If you're looking for a strong female character in gaming, I think Kerrigan would be a good example of that; she has agency, her actions affect the larger world, she's an active participant in the story, she has her own motivations and goals that are independent from any other characters. In fact, the motivations of nearly every other character in the story revolve around her
That first video took 6 stories to tell throughout Starcraft and its expansion, Brood Wars. Also, as for other female characters in the game, there's Nova, a spec ops person on the bad side, Dr Ariel Hanson, Selendis, Vorazun, and the Matriarch, which are female protoss, and I can't think of others that aren't in-game units.
I absolutely love the Fern Gully poster in the back :) That movie was my all time favorite when I was a lot younger. We had them in VHS tapes before and i almost wore it out from playing it over and over.
Everyone recommends the SC2 videos because they look fantastic but forget there is a lot of story that simply isn't in the videos. That is incredibly confusing for people to just jump into. Short summary/background explanation: This is all SC2 content you are currently watching not SC1. In the first StarCraft (that technically does have videos, but don't go back and watch them) there are three races: Zerg - hive mind of a race of creatures that evolve. All of their 'technology' and weaponry is biology based. Objective is to consume and evolve. Protoss - Advanced energy/psychic beings. High tech. Think of them as holy crusaders against the Zerg with all the postives and negatives you would associate with human crusaders. They ended up with two distinct divisions in their race. High templar and dark templar. High templar are the sterotype you would think of religious snobs. Purify worlds with even small zerg infestations. Smash everything in their way. Dark templars were banished from normal Protoss society for reasons. They end being closer to normal people than high templars. High templars share a psychic link as a kind of mind meld across the entire species. Very similar but not a hivemind. Makes them big preachers of unity though. Dark templars dont have that mental link. Because of that, they are a bit more about individuals. Despite high templars wanting to kill dark templars the dark templars end up being the bonding link between pretty much every cross race alliance. Human - had a wild west/civil war kind of thing going on then these two races started coming in killing everything. At the time all the humans banded together to protect themselves from both Zerg and Protoss. Humans ended up being kinda allies with Protoss by the end. At the end of Starcraft Mengsk manages to become humanities leader. Ends up turning on people (and as you saw, leaves Kerrigan to die). Goes North Korea style leadership and propaganda but with abundant resources. Starting another human revolution lead by Reynor. SC1 ends with the zerg threat being reduced by killing the hivemind. Zerg swarms had no leadership anymore but there do exist other minds that can rise up. Their race was heavily reduced in strength. Human's still feared them but also felt they had won and could fight back. So humans had time to go back to killing each other. Protoss are big on psychic energy, humans were fiddling with it and had special forces with it. Zerg didn't really have it but at the end because of Mengsk they caught Kerrigan they have a new queen with that big brain energy and now with a grudge against Mengsk. WHAT YOU WATCHED TODAY- Zerg shows back up after years of nothing. Lead by Kerrigan for revenge against Mengsk, but hurting a lot of innocents. It is hard to tell from the videos but Reynor actually did save and mostly turn Kerrigan back into a human, the hair was never the same. Not bad all things considered. This does mean that Reynor beat the Zerg saving innocents but also leaving Mengsk in power. The Kerrigan flashback from the queen of blades into that mostly human form was right after being rescued and saved. There is a lot more going on but I am not sure what exact vidoes are going to be shown next as this seems to be some kind of cut together in an attempt to make a movie style display. Still mostly release cinematics but to be careful I wont explain further. Let me know if this is helpful and desired next time.
Loved your take on a lot of these, and of the sudden shift of "Do the women get to Do anything though" to immediately seeing Kerrigan running the Swarm rampant over the cityscape. The other posters here are doing plenty to cover the bits that weren't clear from the vids, but there's one element that I think was important- Kerrigan got busted out of child-soldier circumstances by Arcturus Mengsk, the main Human villain in SC2. He was already running a revolution of his own at the time, and busting one of the Confederacy's "Ghost Operatives" was a big deal. Kerrigan joined Mengsk Willingly and was a part of trying to take down the Confederacy of her own volition. That's where she met Jim Raynor, the main human male-lead. Over the course of That revolution, Mengsk grew more and more detached, and asked more and more sketchy, awful stuff of his army, Kerrigan and Raynor included, but they were among the few that really started balking about the way Mengsk was running things, BUT Kerrigan still Trusted Mengsk. She was bothered by it, didn't like what they were doing, but she Believed in him and what they were trying to do. She had faith in him Every Step of the Way Right Up until we see that scene where she's in New Gettysburg, or when we play it out in the first Starcraft game. That's why the betrayal Mengsk dealt her and Raynor was such a big deal. It wasn't just that he was being a cold bastard about it, it was that he was betraying one of his oldest and most loyal agents because she even dared to question his motives or intentions. She doesn't even know that she's not going to make it out alive, get on a ship back to return with her friends and peers and get ready to see the final battles of the revolution and upturn the government that kidnapped her from her family and turned her into a psychic killing machine, until Right then, when the Zerg are circling around her and she drops her comm-device and her gun; abandoned, alone, left to die in a horrible fashion, hopeless. The Starcraft: Brood War cinematics and conversations aren't as visually appealing, so doing a reaction of them might not be warranted, but Damn it was vindicating to have an entire campaign of "Surprise Bitch, Bet you thought you saw the last of me."
What you watched here is a teaser trailer for something that has around 20 hours of plot. As for Kerrigan... she is badass enough to respond with “one woman army” when you select her and it’s probably an understatement. Her relationship with Reynor is actually a wonderful example of how a tough guy can be supportive and give agency to a powerful woman in a way that does not diminish either of them.
To give a context for the first trailer (the one where the suit is put on the marine). It was a reveal trailer for next Starcraft game. A sequel to game that was released in 1998 and is played till this day (yes, the original game is still played today, 22 years later). The game is a national sport in South Korea. People were then requesting/demanding a sequel for it. And when they released the trailer some 12 years later with words "Hell, it's about time." at the end, many people went mental with excitement. PS: Alternative to the suit of armor would be put on ice (frozen until needed). Almost all marines in SC game are prisoners.
Tbh the first video was kinda rushed by the SC2 Dev. There are better videos out there to summerize the SC1 games. but Basicly. Terran Civil War, Mensk and Raynor prepare to overthrow a decadent "Confederacy" Zerg Attack The Terran, and is suspected to be a secret weapon of the Confederacy. Mensk want to use this weapon against them, the Zerg seems to behave like a ravenous hive, much like moth around light spot at night, they're driven by psychic calls. Mensk create Psy emittors, decimate most of the confederacy War Infrastructure, and rally the rest to his cause. His means are obviously disputted by Reynor, but also his own Operative Kerrigan. Deemed a threat, Mensk leave Kerrigan to die on Tarsonis, along side many loyal troops aswell, activating another Psy Emittor. Raynor and his loyalist left the Mensk coup and newly totalitarian regime, the Dominion, was formed, an autoritharian and highly Xenophobic government that uses the Protoss and Zerg Threat to keep its citizen in line. Obviously this is much bigger than them, the Zerg are no mere toys you'd play with, it is more than just a ravenous Hive, it is an Assimilating one, with at its core the Overmind, an almost godlike entity that uses semi-autonomous nodes, also known as Cerebrate, to Control his Swarm. His goal? Aiur, the backstory of both the protoss and the overmind compels him to seek for their homeworld. from Kerrigan, he created what he deems being its greatest agent, and plan on using its power against his ennemies. Some Protoss realised the threat the zerg had become, unlike their ruling class the Conclave who only saw vermine to be exterminated and unworthy of their full attention. The protoss are also psionicly linked, but not as hive like the zerg, more like honorbound yet xenophobic zealots. Those that refused this "psionic link" gift, also known as Kalae, were deemed heretic, and banished. Those are the Dark templar, and only them may harm the Zerg Consciousness. And that's what Zeratul did, the Overmind was disrupted, stunned for a time, some of his brood went rampaging between each other. But Zeratul realised in great horror that harming the overmind connected their spirits briefly, and now Aiur's location was known. The Swarm, led by the Overmind and with Kerrigan as its master piece, warped over Aiur and quickly overwhelmed the world. Tassadar, a non-heretic protoss hunted by the conclave even as their world was falling, inspirated his protoss follower, Templars and Dark templars alike, and also got himself some terran friends such as Raynor, in an ultimate assault against the overmind. He succeeded, but at the cost of its life. The Overmind was no more, but so was Aiur to the Protoss. The Zerg went rampaging again, until Kerrigan eventually united them once more. Kropullu was a colonial system, which means there is a "main empire". the Ued, that said "main empire", heard of the zerg potential as a weapon... and that went as bad as anticipated. Kerrigan, Artanys (the right hand of tassadar and savior of protoss) and an uneasy alliance between Raynor and Mensk repelled this new Threat. Then Kerrigan betrayed them all, dealing massive damage to both protoss and terrans, and the hive went into "slumber" until events of SC2. Oh yeah, and nobody from the UED was ever heard of again. uh... that wasn't basic at all... oh well.
Gonna be honest, as someone whose knowledge of Starcraft is only that it exists and has a character named Sarah Kerrigan, I was just as lost as you. It got to that Protoss part and I just suddenly lost all track of what was happening. Too many names!
If you didn't get chills when Tychus said. "Hell... it's about time" Then you weren't lost in the moment. Oh man, that scene always gives me chills. PUMPED UP!!!
2:35 - 'Is that all the first game?' Girl, that's the first FIFTH of the first game. 15:50 - 'Does Kerrigan have any agency in the story?' It's ALL about Kerrigan. 21:24 - The moment I realized Hannah looks EXACTLY like the Queen of Blades (minus the chitin and the glowey veins).
Can I just ask who the fuck is eyebrows😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 Sylvanas Eyebrows Windrunner .... Or something like that. From WoW.
Karrigan as a character is also much better written in SC2 compared to the edgy bitch character that she is in the first game and Broodwars in my opinion
syl, from World of warcraft.
Big picture:
Gross Aliens: We are gonna invade and consume all planets!
Fancy Aliens: We are gonna stop gross aliens by destroying everything they touch. Oh, they are coming for humans? better destroy them too just to be safe!
Humans (Terrans): yeah, we know there are two races of dangerous aliens out there to kill us. But first, let's have a civil war to settle who's in charge, because priorities!
hahaha thanks.
This is very accurate lol
Addendum: the civil war is between Mengsk, who lured the gross aliens to his political rivals and could possibly doom the human race, and Jim Raynor, who's basically Han Solo.
Then the Gross aliens capture the human kerrigan and turn her into a weapon. Then go looking for the fancy aliens homeworld and destroy it.
"Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying." - Arthur C. Clarke
You don´t realise just how scary it is until you actually think about the implications of both.
Well thats why we build so many games about space and alien life my friend...
Been alone would be .

Is it terrifying being alone on the universe tho?
Honestly for me I’d be like “cool all the universe and their resources are for the humans to take”
Kerrigan is definitely a very Important Character (Some might say the most important) in Starcraft. She is far from beeing a damsel in distress or just the male heros accessoire, which is even cooler concidering the first game came out in the 90s. I have quickly and hopefully understandably summarised the most important parts of her Story in Starcraft
She was an Elite operative who joined the Rebelion of a guy named Mengsk.
Thanks for the info!
Fantastic recap.

Yes
Sarah is the main charector NOT low key at all

It was a 3 way main character thing between Sarah, Raynor and Artanis, Sarah just got the special treatment is all, while Raynor has the story build up and Artanis, the badass anime like fight sequences, and the best lines out of all 3 lol
You need to watch the “StarCraft 2 all cutscenes” for each of the three games. It’s basically a scifi movie all put together.
I fully agree on this :)
You get to know each faction and many of the questions are answered.
Combined with all relevant story bit from the missions, it's about the lenght of the Lord Of The Rings trillogy
@@ThomasTee true but it’s good. Blizzard knows how to make cinematics
@@linussyren9221 yep, couldn't agree more
Yes! It is the only way it will all make sense
Eric Maldonado
By the way, Warhammer 40k lore its one of the most basic out there.
Allow me to explain:
- Orks are waaaaagh, Necrons are immortal, Tyranids are Zerg on steroids, Eldar are depraved space elves, Dark eldar are even more depraved space elves, Chaos are weirdo sadistic demonoid fellas, Tau are the less evil of all the lot, and they love long-range heavy firepower.

There was a lot of story in Starcraft 1. Their attempt to summarize it all in the intro to Starcraft 2 is about the best they could have done.
It was a lot but I'm happy I watched it.
@@HannaHsOverInvested it's similar to someone trying to summarize every season of supernatural... it's a lot to cover... not as much as some other universes, like warcraft or 40k... but it can get rather complicated quickly
Yeah! I'm not sure if I would have been able to follow that recap if I hadn't played SC1.
That video has its merits, but I definitely like this recap better: ruclips.net/video/SUp_EmnZyzY/видео.html though it does overlook some things. The benefit is that it contains slightly less word salad.
For reference, this recap played as you were running the installer for StarCraft II back in 2010.
Short Recap of Kerrigan before she got captured by the Zerg:
She was a Special Psi-Operative / Agent for a terrorist organisation (Sons of Korhal) that tried to overthrow the "terran confederacy" in the sector
Jim Raynor ran into her, and they fell in love
Later she planted a beacon on a human world - New Getysburg, that called the zerg for the "Sons of Korhal"
The Sons-Leader, Mensk ditched her, and left her to die on that planet and used the Invasion to become Emporer of the human Dominion
but instead of dying she got captured by the Zerg, and transformed unto the Queen of blades
On the other angle, Kerrigan was also partly responsible for killing Arcturus's mother and sister and decapitating his father. While he opted to use her in his rebellion against the Confederacy, he likely abandoned her at New Gettysburg as an act of vengeance for her killing his family.
Nice spotting the Charlotte/Lucifer connection. Tricia Helfer (who played Charlotte) is the voice actress for Kerrigan
Kerrigan was voiced by Tricia Helfer in Starcraft 2, who also played the role of Charlotte in the Lucifer series
And was "six" in Battlestar Galactica. Fun fact about the BSG cast. I was eating lunch at a table in a private lobby at a convention and there were not other open tables so the entire cast asked if they could sit with me. Six was far from my favorite character in the show but in person she was an absolute delight.

I think Zerathul is Zeratul
@@The_True_Mx_Pink you're absolutely right, I fixed it.
That mission where you abandon her is brutal because even if you didn't want to leave her the game forced you to be complicit in her betrayal.
"Why can't we just be friends instead?"
Easy, story needs a conflict. The friends instead is the epilogue, it is a lesson that has to be learned to truly be appreciated. So the question isn't why, but more "When do we learn?" or as the song goes: "How many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?".
Another way to look at it is from the great dragon that many gamers know, Paarthurnax. He ponders over the good and evil and raises this question:
“What is better? To be born good or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?”
If one believes in the latter, then a story of conflict and war probably speaks to you, because here the characters can overcome their nature and in the end become friends instead.

Starcraft 2 kinda retconned a few things, and turned the story into pure space opera, which is... fine I guess, not great, but it was entertaining enough.
also nova and tosh were great.
Amon and his Hybird were actually set up in 1, though 2 definitely had a very different vibe from the get go.

@@comradecommissar1945 " the series that vowed to never become warcraft in space ended up exactly that"
It was always going to be that.
Kerrigan is THE active character with agency, probably more than anyone else. (On the other hand her infested form has, ugh, organic high heels)

Plenty of female characters in starcraft. Best of all, they weren't added just to shoehorn a female into the plot, they actually have personality.
And more importantly, agency. Plenty of female characters in media have personality. not all of them have agency.
Then there's Dr. Hansen...
Kerrigan VA is Tricia Helfer, the actress that played Charlotte in Lucifer, so you are right about they sounding the same, they are the same
Here's a little background on StarCraft's story.

A side note about white and male in starcraft 2:
The whole game plays in the Koprulu Sector which is far away from Earth and was settled by 3 crashed prison transporters. The only time they had contact with Earth was when Earth invaded the sector.
With other words you are looking at a human faction/culture which developed from an isolated prison population, you are not looking at humanity as a whole.
overarching theme of this franchise:
god like beings called xel'naga seed life in a universe, after millennia of evolution the races they gave life to are taken and merged with the xel'naga to become gods themselves and the process starts over again in another universe, this is known as 'the cycle'.
humanity emerges as its own species separate from 'the cycle' and after some evolution humans have developed the ability to use psionic abilities, these particular humans are trained in the military as 'ghosts' sarah kerrigan was one such ghost and unknown to those around her was one of the strongest psionic warriors of the human race, hence why the zerg swarm took her and mutated her instead of killing her, she would later become the queen of blades with her only motivation being to find and kill mengsk for his betrayal.
the protoss race were a very proud people, and that pride was their ultimate downfall, their society was based on a caste system and anything heretical was either killed or exiled which is why there are multiple factions within the protoss race, their overarching story is a bit complicated but suffice to say they had a civil war millennia ago and are now set in their ways.
the zerg swarm is a race created by Amon, the dark god (think of him as the 'Lucifer' of this franchise), a fallen xel'naga he wants to see the cycle broken and he wants dominion over all life in the universe, ultimately it takes the entire remaining protoss as well as the zerg swarm under the control of kerrigan, and the terrans all working together to fight this threat.
the voice of kerrigan is indeed the same actress as played charlotte in the tv show 'Lucifer', in terms of the reasoning behind what certain characters are doing and why they are doing the things they do, it's all explained in game as play through the campaign missions, even if you watch all the cutscenes you would still miss a lot of context from the actual game missions themselves.
to answer your question about diversity, there are plenty of male/female/coloured characters in this franchise, many in leadership roles, the dark templar faction of the protoss for example is a matriarchal society and Vorazun is the leader of that faction (which is the faction that zeratul belongs to), you have gabriel tosh, a terran ghost who is basically jamaican, you have high executor selendis, she is right hand to Artanis the leader of the remaining free protoss, there's Nova another female ghost soldier similar to that of kerrigan, in terms of the zerg you of course have kerrigan, there's her broodmother lieutenant 'Zagara', there's a few other major female characters that are pivotal to the plot but and these are just a few of the characters that you would meet in the campaign.
Conclusion : in starcraft lore , shot first, ask after
The black guy in the suit is a general, there is also Nova who is also female and there are female commanders for the Protos.

*TL: DR we don't know how they do it, but they do have women*
Protoss for sure has females as they are mentioned multiple across starcraft 2 , but it's not clearly stated how they breed.
We also know that Raszagal who died in SC1 was the mother of Vorazun a semi-minor character in SC2.
The design of the Protoss would suggest they give birth because of the wider hips females have, but it could just be a design choice of the game designers to make them more human.

in 24XX Humans (called terrans in the game) throw prisoners in space so they don't need to manage them.
At the same time Mengsk give to Kerrigan the mission to put the thing on one planet, but what he didn't say is that it was a suicide mission (cf the cinematic where she ask for an evac, and Mengsk say "goodbye, bitch")
Jim is pissed because his girlfriend as been killed by the man he help, so he decide to start an other revolution to kill Mengsk.
(Starcraft one, without DLC, and I throw away a lot of plot points)
Terrans from earth arive on koprolu system and are here to say "We decide what is going on here" but Raynor and Mengsk say to them "Fuck off"
At the same time surviving cerebrates merge into a new overmind, and Kerrigan try to stop it to "not become a slave anymore" (become queen of the zergs)
Protoss try to flee on an other planet where it's a matriachy run by emo goth protoss.
Terran from earth learn about the overmind, and find a way to control it.
Kerrigan rally protoss and Terran to say fuck you to earth Terran and kill the overmind.
Then she say fuck you to everyone and become the official BBEG.
(SC1 DLC)
Couldn't place it again, but in the game we learn about a god-like alien race, the Xel'nagas, that created zerg and protoss, and some high tech psychic artefact that can mess with things.
(SC2 base)
Kerrigan is in a scientific lab where they find out that she is still part zerg, and still can controll them (even if it less than before). We also learn that when she was almost full zerg, she was under the control of Amon, and so was the overmind. That why zerg were evil.
Lab is attacked, she flee, but Raynor is supposedly killed. (By nova, an other ghost I couldn't speak about before because the comment is already too long, she is an asshole but for some reasons she is in my top 3 starcraft crush)
Kerrigan say "fuck humanity, let's go back to zerg" take control of some zerg and find out about primordial (prehistorical) zergs.
(SC2 DLC1)
Protoss take back their world, but Amon hack the Kala (a link between almost all protoss that is basicaly an hive mind without the "give up free will" part) and turn it under a true hive mind.
Kind of

Haha, your summary of the StarCraft recap killed me... close but no cookies!
Interesting! Thank you!
Not sure if I'm to late to put this here

Hannah to cast kerrigan in a starcraft movie. Who agrees?
@@pawelzietek It is an rts. Most rts's have story included in the single player campaign
For sure.
Another female character is Nova, she is ghost like Kerrigan were.
So funny 😂
Close enough for Dominion work.
🤣🤣🤣 so they were like. Ohhhh what that? Got closer and was like, nope nope nope.
Some background for Hannah:
🤣🤣🤣
I love your reactions in just the first 10 minutes. I grew up on starcraft, so I know the story by heart, and everytime i play it and watch the cut scenes my heart races, so it is very cool to see a non gamer reacting to my favorite games!! I would have recommended you start with the first starcraft and go into the second, it makes more sense and gives more details for the next three episodes in starcraft 2 which is the ending for the first six episodes of the game!! But glad you enjoy doing this!! Subscribing!!
Imo StarCraft 2 is basically the personification of the phrase "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"
I just found your videos! these are amazing, and I now know how I sound trying to explain my fandom to people. Keep these up! It would be cool if you talked to other youtubers of these fandoms.
That's a cool idea! Maybe I will be able to connect with some cool people and talk about.... More stuff I don't understand 🤣🤣
I would like to request a few videos for the list, all made by the same company “From Software.”
Dark souls opening.
Dark souls 2 opening.
Dark souls 3 opening
Bloodborne opening (different series)
Sekiro (different series)
That said the opening for Darkest Dungeon could also be really fun to watch.
i have no idea who u are, but i loved starcraft and thought it was dead. so this really makes me happy to see people still talking abt it
Yeah, Hannah, that was Kerrigan.
It's like history class, but with aliens and in space. lol
The Zerg and the protoss hate each other and humans are just kinda... there...
She is voiced by Charlotte from Lucifer. You don't understand how much of Lucifer I watched before it finally hit me, haha!
Sadly, he dies in that armor x_x
12:23 - There were lots of ground forces left behind to die I think to cover up for Mensk.
Seeing Kerigan as a human again before seeing how she was "saved" must have been confusing. Exciting for the next commentary.
I absolutely love the Fern Gully poster in the back :)
That movie was my all time favorite when I was a lot younger.
We had them in VHS tapes before and i almost wore it out from playing it over and over.
It is so good! Pip was one of, if not my first crush.
Everyone recommends the SC2 videos because they look fantastic but forget there is a lot of story that simply isn't in the videos. That is incredibly confusing for people to just jump into. Short summary/background explanation:
This is all SC2 content you are currently watching not SC1.
In the first StarCraft (that technically does have videos, but don't go back and watch them) there are three races:
Zerg - hive mind of a race of creatures that evolve.
The other posters here are doing plenty to cover the bits that weren't clear from the vids, but there's one element that I think was important-
Kerrigan got busted out of child-soldier circumstances by Arcturus Mengsk, the main Human villain in SC2.
Over the course of That revolution, Mengsk grew more and more detached, and asked more and more sketchy, awful stuff of his army, Kerrigan and Raynor included, but they were among the few that really started balking about the way Mengsk was running things, BUT
Kerrigan still Trusted Mengsk.
Terran Civil War, Mensk and Raynor prepare to overthrow a decadent "Confederacy"
Zerg Attack The Terran, and is suspected to be a secret weapon of the Confederacy.
Yeah trying to condense 20 to 30 hours worth of gameplay storyline into a 2 minute movie is just never going to really transfer well.
If you didn't get chills when Tychus said.
"Hell... it's about time"
Then you weren't lost in the moment. Oh man, that scene always gives me chills. PUMPED UP!!!
I was too preoccupied with the idea of how uncomfortable living in that suit would be...
That entire planet was swarmed by the aliens
Your cheerfullness... is contagious
THANK YOU!!!! that is so kind of you to take the time to say.
Quick lore point. The terrans utilize criminals as their soldiers. Essentially cannon fodder.
not all of them are criminals.
2:35 - 'Is that all the first game?'
Girl, that's the first FIFTH of the first game.
15:50 - 'Does Kerrigan have any agency in the story?'
It's ALL about Kerrigan.
21:24 - The moment I realized Hannah looks EXACTLY like the Queen of Blades (minus the chitin and the glowey veins).
