Disney might be spending 2 Billion, but you can tell they are cutting costs as much as possible, same rides same ride systems in every park, still a good video well done
As someone who grew up with Disneyland Paris I always feel so sad that it get's almost completely ignored by Disney. Whilst the other parks get these great big expansions and new rides, we got nothing. Now they're starting to give us things, but they still refuse to go all out. Is it because they have to pay most of it themselves and not get helped by big companies? Or do they just not care? The new Cars tram tour is an embarrassment, the same critique as with the Fast and Furious ride in Universal count here: "A movie about fast cars and racing? Let's do a slow tram tour!". I'd rather they shut the tram tour completely (I know it's to keep some capacity, but still)
I think its just because it has always been financially unstable and unpredictable. Hard to justify big detailed investments to board members without the guarantee of a return.
It’s because it’s a international park just like Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland however Tokyo Disneyland resort is getting as much attention as the America parks
Totally agree, Cars Road Trip is nothing but an embarrassment. The old Studio Tram Tour needed an update, but this… ridiculous.😔 There’s even a sign that reads “enjoy the view” and all you can see is overgrown grass 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
A half a** park gets a half a** expansion to make a full a** expansion, did anyone else notice just how much space is still left between these 3 new lands??
You should check out Disneyland Paris on Google Maps (satellite photo). They basically have only filled half of the big circle of the resort. They could fit in two additional parks!
This expansion is given me serious hodgepodge vibes. Disney shouldn’t forget that the secret of its theme parks’ outstanding success has always been caused by theming that feels organic.
@@janellecooper6160 California Adventure is amazing by comparison. This is truly bad. The only good parts are the more recent rides/lands. Anything good at Walt Disney Studios Park that is from a while ago has been closed now
I most definitely hope this will bring great things to DLP. However, it all feels like it's not enough. When Avengers Campus and Arendelle: World of Frozen have opened, what do we actually have? One additional ride. One. (Rock 'n Rollercoaster > Iron Man coaster, Armageddon > Spider-Man WEB slingers, + the Frozen darkride.) I really don't get why Disney doesn't immediately build the sled ride for Frozen at Hong Kong (I believe), as they could incorporate that into the same building as the darkride. What's more concerning is happening next door, though. Disneyland Paris Park hasn't had a new addition (note that I don't say "replacement") to the park since Space Mountain in 1995! Again, 1995! That's insane! Especially when you consider no new ride additions have been announced and probably won't until Frozen at WDS is done in 2024! That would be almost 30 years! While WDS certainly needs expanding, and work should continue with that Marvel Quinjet darkride, Star Wars land, and a proper Cars land, actual Disneyland Paris needs to get new rides ASAP! There's a bunch of expansion plots ready to go. Adventureland should finally get the Indiana Jones darkride. Discoveryland should get Fire Mountain (to compete with Phantasialand's FLY), TRON coaster, and/or Tokyo DisneySea's Journey to the Center of the Earth. Fantasyland should get a venue for Philharmagic (it is really out of place in Discoveryland), maybe a Pooh darkride, Beauty and the Beast darkride and/or Seven Dwarves Mine Train. Replace the Wonderland maze and Storybook boatride if you must! Frontierland should get a version of Splash Mountain, the notion of "DLP shouldn't get water rides as it can freeze one day a year in France" is absolute BS. To end on a positive note. It is encouraging to see that Disney is planning an additional hotel, a refurbishment of Disney Village and is using the ground dug up for the WDS lake as a berm at the far side of the resort. The location that could be the home of a third gate, which they are contractually obligated to build around 2030...
@@MattGarcia I rather not remove attractions at all. The reason I mention a possible replacement of the maze is because of the current firework logistics, which are set off behind that part of the park and even causes the Casey Jr./Storybook boat ride to close well before the rest of the park. If that could be moved further back or something it could make more room for a Fantasyland expansion. Personally I think it really needs it. I was really disappointed by that part of the park. It didn't impress me at all. Except for the castle, of course. When I went through the castle my thought was "Wait, I'm already at the back of the park?". Of course it could be because I'm used to something like the Efteling, which just goes on and on. Basically, I just want more park in all directions.
Yeah, this park really does suffer from an identity crisis. It seems to be the trend: homogenize the parks with popular franchises to streamline production costs. Very economical, but not very imaginative I think.
In the last couple decades, Excursion Parks (for Disney, I believe that's simply the Castle parks + Tokyo DisneySea) have proven to be, by far, the most successful and popular type of theme park. Enthusiasts like us love our Discovery Parks and Animal Parks and such, and we love them having a strong identity - but Disney has decided people don't want that (and to an extent I think they're correct). So they try to make Epcot and Animal Kingdom and their Studios parks more like Excursion Parks with each update, and I think that's why you get that weird mishmash identity crisis feeling with these parks (in addition to economy and efficiency as you already mentioned).
100% agree, Disney dosent take as many risks as they use to before and there constant use of ip is fustrating. I have an opinion on Shanghai disneyland, its a IP park but with Disneyland elements.
I love how honest you are in your videos. There are so many channels dedicated to theme park news that are just blindly excited constantly for every and any announcement coming to the parks. I'm OK with a few carbon copies of attractions at parks, it's bound to happen. But it really seems like more often than not attractions will eventually be copied and pasted around all the Disney resorts with little to no changes or unique traits whatsoever. Oh well.
Although the Studios park in Paris really could use this upgrade, I'd wish that the original Paris park would receive ANY new attractions. It's been too long and overlays don't count.
I dunno I just feel totally underwhelmed by this. I'm really glad they're finally expanding this area which has always been a half day park, but what they really need is more attractions. Overlays, copies are just kinda...meh. This needs DCA expansion +++ after such mediocrity for so many years
This Park is a really great park, but in my opinion needs an major E ticket style ride to bring people to the park, for example, something like Radiator Springs Racers. I would love to see Cars land take over the old Studio Tour area, and for them to possibly add in an expansion idea of Monsters Inc.
If they directly continue with that Quinjet darkride for Avengers Campus, build Galaxy's Edge with Rise of the Resistance and put Radiator Springs Racers in the spot of what is now Cars Road Trip, we would have a quite attractive park. Not that they then can sit on their hands for 30 years, like what looks to be the case at Disneyland Park.
Walt Disney studios is my favourite theme park even over the Disneyland park if it didn’t have the parachute drop ride yes it would probably be rubbish but that parachute drop saved the park for me
Oh man there's such a good opportunity for a Princess and the frog sequel where Naveen opens a Tianas in France after the success in New Orleans, and similar to Disney in Paris, it struggles but just as Disney remembered the quality they can offer, Naveen and Tiana refine themselves for a super successful future. If Disney hasn't seen this great chance to thank Paris with a princess film, I hope that lightbulb goes off!!
Even after building Shanghai Disneyland with an increased emphasis on tailoring the experience to the culture it seems they’ve learnt nothing from this and Walt Disney Studios is going to get more tired, simplified rehashes of other park’s attractions. It’s a Catch 22 situation of their own creation, Paris doesn’t get the attention and investment it needs so it doesn’t draw crowds it needs and vice versa.
@Jonathan Pal I find that surprising, I used to live in England and for a time went semi regularly to Disneyland Paris and never had an issue with service or experience. The Ratatouille attraction is the best ride in both parks and not even unique anymore.
@Jonathan Pal that’s a real shame to hear, the Cast Members at Disneyland Paris have only been second to the Cast Members of Tokyo in my experience. Although Paris is definitely a park that doesn’t invite spontaneity.
It definitely is the most underwhelming disney park i’ve visited and its a shame they are already delaying or canceling new expansions. TWDC is definitely not commited to this park, but it really needs it..
Really not sure how I feel about Disney’s move to just building entire lands or mini-lands themed around 1 IP with only 1 or 2 attractions in. It seems like a really uneconomical use of space. It also makes it more difficult if they want to refresh the park in the future as it ties them to that IP unless they want to retheme the entire section again.
Agreed. Disney is absolutely driving short sighted here. They love the IPs for the quick money, but what do they do with those lands in 20-30 years? Original Disney theme park concepts have always been timeless and were not tied too heavily to IP's. Now the are building entire lands based on a single IP. This will backfire big time, but Chapek and his goons will be retired by then, so why care?
@@PHLFANJAN so true! "Kidd's I know I said we can't afford Disneyland this year, but there is now a robot that looks like johnny Depp, let's spend all our money there" said no one ever. "I know they don't have anything new, but space mountain has videos of star wars ships now, lets go!" Do they really think that this is how people think.
the spiderman & green goblin rollercoaster idea sounds really interesting… especially since green goblin hasn’t been introduced in the mcu yet…. maybe this means the green goblin will be in the mcu soon
@@JustinCoasters They will both still have Star wars as an IP anyway because star tours will definitely stay. But the point being made is hyperspace mountain was supposed to be a temporary overlay but hasn't reverted back in years...
@@Zelouchan Ha! Space. Disneyland Paris Resort is basically one big expansion plot! Behind what currently is Walt Disney Studios Park you could build the same park again! Meanwhile, on the far side of the resort, there's a barren patch of land where they could easily build a third gate. They could even fit a fourth gate in! Not to mention at least one water park. Just look up the resort area on Google Maps/Earth.
I can't wait for the avengers park to open! I want the star wars land so bad to go ahead, it would be such a great addition! It definitely needs something unique that is for sure!!! It's so much easier for me to get to is Paris over the 12 HR flights to the USA.
A Duckburg land. Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge are massively popular in Europe. When in walk into the bookstore I can pick up 10 different Duck publications at any time.
Whilst I welcome these plans, they really don’t go far or quick enough. Even if a Star Wars land is built it will still look incredibly baron around the lake. It just seems such odd planning. I can imagine a decade or more of a large lake with Frozen at the top and nothing else around the edges except large fences with ever fading images of what’s to come.
Not to mention Disneyland Park next door which hasn't gotten an addition since Space Mountain in 1995! And it doesn't look like anything new is coming there soon either.
@@EspenSGX new attractions have been added since: buzz leclerc (2006), lion king theatre (2019), philharmagic (2018),... yes these were replacing other attractions but glass half full! 😀
@@marc44444 Replacing is not adding. It hardly does anything for their capacity. And Philharmagic has been a quick fix job. They don't have the extra widescreen nor the "Duck Butt" animatronic. Now, I know you can't easily shove a bigger screen in an existing venue, but you could remove the cut off corner and add the "Duck Butt". Also, I can hardly get excited by the new Frontier Theatre. It's nice it's there, but after it opened it had The Lion King show for a number of months and then stood empty for the longest time. Not to mention that the construction took so long that the Railroad was out for about two years, cutting into the park's capacity.
@@Thesupermachine2000 Indeed, their biggest competitor Europa Park is expanding at breakneck speed. Parc Asterix next door to DLP also keeps on going and even has plans for a second gate. I really wouldn't be surprised if DLP loses that #1 spot in the next five years or so.
Disney needs to build a new land (original to the DLPR) around the lake to be a draw to the park. A smaller, Frozen land, a mediocre spiderman ride, and a rethemed Rock N Roller Coaster ain't it.
Disney most definitely should build a Duckburg land. Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck are massively popular throughout Europe. If they did expand the water of the lake they could even have a bridge to connect to Saint Canard and have a Darkwing Duck ride there. It would be ideal! However, if it ain't Mickey Mouse I doubt Disney sees this opportunity.
I dont really care if they give us off the shelf stuff from US/Tokyo - but don't give us budge off the shelf stuff. lol. OR give us unique experiences. Almost everything in this park is a not as good version of stuff in other parks. Just a shame. It's like Paris is a thorn in their side and they just do what they can to keep it going. At it's heart - there is a beautiful main park - full of unique vibes - the Victorian synchronisation of almost all the lands and the European vibes of Fantastyland are really second to none in a Castle park. But they just need to fix this second gate - and I'm afraid light versions of popular IPs may not just cut it. Howabout a unique land to bridge Marvel and Frozen that may not actually be linked to an IP? I'd even accept a re-branding of the whole park. Anyway - thanks for the great video. Just wish they'd do it properly y'know?
What a terrible idea to add a lake of that size with only one land (and one ride) on the other side. Since Star Wars land is in flux, they should cut their losses, create a water amphitheater similar to Fantasmic at DHS instead of a huge lake, and squeeze Frozen into the area behind Tower of Terror. Maybe the leftover investment might just be enough to bring Alien Swirling Saucers to Toy Story Playland and, you know, actually ADD something to the attractions roster! I honestly cannot comprehend how THIS is going to cost $2.5 billion.
The lake probably will host something akin to Fantasmic at Tokyo DisneySea. Currently the park doesn't have a nighttime spectacular at all, except for certain seasons and events. But those often are just mapping a bunch of Star Wars scenes on the Tower of Terror. We can only hope additional lands will come in ASAP. But to indeed avoid a even more empty looking park they need to keep on building. It also looks like the €2 billion investment won't just encompass the three lands in the park, but also the refurb for Hotel New York, a refurb for Disney Village, an event center, a new hotel and the curious construction of a berm on the far side of the resort.
I see Free fast pass has just been scrapped. Pay per ride fast pass is now a thing. :( Starting costs of 8euros per ride per person. What a disgrace this company has become. Safe to say we won't be going back ever again. Chapek needs to be fired and quick before he totally destroys the brand.
Sadly Paris always gets the rough end of the stick. When Disney confirmed the extension plans I was very excited but now I have little hope left that Disney will save the studios park. Frozen ride is a clone of a not great ride, marvel land doesn't look great in California and star wars is all but cancelled. Paris deserves better
The French government also extended the expansion for a third park for the Resort to 2036. I can't really see a new theme park in Disneyland Paris until they fix the Studios. Bob Chapek just sucks bad.
2036 is the date when DLP will have to asses wether or not they'll make a 3rd park, with absolutely no construction deadline. And sadly, I believe the studios problem is absolutely unfixable, given the layout. Chapek sucks ass, but Disneyland Paris has always been left out by the Walt Disney Co ever since it underperformed in the 2000's. And yet last expansion to the Disneyland Park was in 1995. No splash mountain, no Indiana Jones Aventure, no nothing.
The international Disney parks are getting attention however, Paris Disneyland is getting the expansions said in this video Shanghai Disneyland is getting Zootopia land Hong Kong Disneyland is getting frozen land and Tokyo Disney sea is getting fantasy springs
Star Tours already is in Disneyland Park's Discoveryland and no way they are going to move all that over. The Aladdin carpets haven't even been moved to Adventureland, let alone moving multiple military grade flight simulators. Best we can hope for is a version of Smugglers Run. Maybe an X-Wing, going with the concept art. The cooperation and instructions given in SR aren't going to work with groups of strangers, because of the many languages they have to cater for.
Elsewhere here I mentioned that air travel is most likely going to get more expensive and discouraged for environmental reasons. This would make it harder for Disney to get Europeans to Florida. People sure want to go to Disney, therefore it would be a good idea I think to have more places you can experience the same ride. This doesn't mean these rides need to be a straight copy and it also doesn't mean original rides should be shelved entirely either.
@@EspenSGX whilst original rides are nice, it doesn't make much sense economically for the reasons listed above. And as stipulated in the video all versions will have differences.
Hopefully after these expansions are complete there will be enough draw to the back sections of the park to allow the entrance areas a facelift, possibly like a new Buena Vista Street or something along the same concept that can seem more timeless than the current facades.
Well. Taking everything from Bugs Life and bringing it over to that park would have helped i think. At the moment i would not visit. Other European Parks offer much more value, though they do not own the mass of IP.
Yep, Puy du Fou is my favorite park on the planet, with Efteling, Europa Park and Phantasialand offering amazing experiences. DLP was wonderful when it opened (I was there, having grown up at the Anaheim park) and used to have a villa on the DLP golf course. It is an overpriced mess now.
SHUT UP ABOUT THE IP THING ITS STUPID STOP CRITICISING DISNEYLAND PARIS The other European parks don’t beat Disneyland Paris and europa park looks trash and Tokyo Disney sea looks trash aswell.
Personally i don't care wbout all the marvel and star wars add-on's... Let Disney come up with some original content and additions, then i'll reconsider a visit back to the park. i used to go a lot as a child (from The Netherlands) before Walt Disney Studios opened, and only visited once after it opened, we were really diaspointed to see the studio park and left after one hour and never came back to the resort after. TBH the Disneyland Paris Parc is goregous, and it makes me sad to think that the ast addition to the park was Space Mountain, (lets be honest, Astro Blaster was just a replacement, capacity improving, attraction completely missing the mark with the Jules Verne theme, until Disney can deliver something original as good as the original park was designed, there are plenty better parks in Europe to spend your money at!
I had a 20 year gap between visits. Going as a kid before WDS opened and now as an adult who this time went on everything. Disneyland Park hadn't changed much in between. Honestly, I can't justify the expanse and travel it takes for DLP when there's nothing new/more opening. Other parks (Efteling, Phantasialand, Europa Park, etc.) are opening new rides consistently, can compete in theming, are even cheaper, and I haven't been to them all. An event season or new show won't get me back. And if I want a new shot of Disney I rather save up and go straight to Walt Disney World or maybe even Tokyo Disneyland/DisneySea. If it already costs a lot of money you might as well do it right.
If you are from America or Asia I really wouldn't know why you'd come to Disneyland Paris. You have Disneyland or Walt Disney World and the Tokyo Disney resort closer by, which are way better.
@@Emplordxiii Big Thunder Mountain (unique for its underground tunnel to the island), Space Mountain (if it ever goes back to the original version), and Pirates of the Caribbean (on par with the original) are excellent rides too. Sadly I wouldn't say that they are big enough reasons to make the jump over the pond. Unless you go on a European theme park tour and also do Parc Asterix, the Efteling, Phantasialand and Europa Park. Those quite clustered within some hours between them. There are some smaller ones between them - Pairi Daiza in Belgium, Toverland in the Netherlands - and some outliers, like the Puy du Foy parks in the south of France and the new one in Spain (they run circles around DLP when it comes to park entertainment).
I was so looking forward to the new Star Wars land! (But I am still looking forward to Avengers Campus tho). I would gladly have something that's brand new and different from Galaxy's Edge, and I think this could be a great opportunity to try something different from Galaxy's Edge and make something that could even rival it.
I kinda sad the way they are doing Walt Disney studios. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited but just adding lands based on characters is just so cliche at this point. I would’ve thought they would’ve included more Fox franchises. Plus what they are doing to rockin roller coaster just upsets me! Like I get what they had to do to make it fit the theme, however I hate that they are just pasting over yet another amazing ride. I doubt they’d do it but if they rebuilt rockin rollercoaster in the main theme park that would honestly be amazing!
A third gate based upon 20th Century properties would be quite something! In that regard it is interesting they use the ground dug up for the WDS lake for a berm on the far side of the resort where current is only a road.
Been off the internet for a week. I just got here and am depressed to see so few hits and likes. This is another absolutely brilliant piece, well researched and perhaps even more fair to Disney than they deserve, but definitely fair. Sometimes I feel the best journalists get the lowest reward, but the clickbait channels collect all the accolades. UPVOTE ALREADY otherwise we may not see these anymore.
I have a love-hate relationship with the Disneyland Paris Resort. I love the Disneyland Park and hated most of the Studio Park. The Studio Park always felt like it was done on the cheap. It was not well thought out and it seems like it was built because Disney felt it had to build a second park. Unlike the Disneyland Parks around the world and even the other secondary parks in Florida, Japan and even Anaheim, it seems like no one was put in charge of making it a cohesive park at the Paris Resort. They really need to do what Disney did with DCA and come up with some type of overarching theme and story behind the park. And while DCA still has a long way to go, it is 99% better than it was when it opened and 1000 times better than Paris' Studio Park.
Exactly what I always say they need something new and different to make me want to fly out there lol I can do frozen at Epcot, Star Wars I have it here in Cali and avengers as well the only different unique thing would be iron man and my favorite crush’s coaster
I mean, at first I was like: oh yes! One new reason to buy tickets to Disneyland Paris....Until I heard they plan on 'overlay' the Paris version of Rock N Roller Coaster.
i couldn’t be less excited for all of the avengers campuses, considering all they’re willing to put it in has to be completely screen based, wonder if disney will abandon the idea before the land actually gets its own ride, not a arcade cabinet or a retheme with screens
I can't help but think it'll take more than an expansion for WDS to be saved. It all just feels so, well, cheap. For example the walkthrough of Studio One is so cheap and tacky that it feels more like something from a Tussauds park like Thorpe Park than what you'd expect from The Walt Disney Company (the biggest insult you could give a theme park imo!)
Definitely the STAR WARS land, it would be the only thing that would motivate me to make the trek to Paris, like you said it would be great if this was unique to Paris though and not a copy of the existing GE.
But why? There are so many different and unique things in Disneyland Paris compared to the other one... And you are waiting for Star Wars. I mean, your choice But wat
You can't really do the same thing as in the Americans parks in Disneyland Paris. There are too many languages to cater for. They could do the 50/50 thing and have everything French/English, but how are you going to do something like the Millennium Falcon ride and its instructions? They don't even give you a clear option at Star Tours to do the English version over the French one. You have to be lucky or know that you can ask a cast member to start it instead. If they are cooperative, that is. Walkaround characters would need to be fluent in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and probably Dutch (which I believe make up for 10% of visitors). It's going to be near impossible to find a girl who looks like Rey and speaks multiple of these languages. No, they should bank on theming for immersion.
@@EspenSGX You basically summed up the whole problem : Disneyland Paris is a cultural nightmare for Disney, and that's the reason there is close to no interaction at all with and between guests
@@EspenSGX I don’t think Millennium Falcon should be built for this reason, but the language barrier shouldn’t be the reason why Disneyland Paris can’t get fully themed and immersive lands.
@@JordisYoutubing I really don't get Disney's issue with language barrier in Paris. Remove the French pilot chatter in Hyperspace Mountain and it'll be a better ride for it. The original didn't have someone shouting in your ears and was great (and should return). I really don't get why a Tower of Terror or Star Tours doesn't have queues based on language. Line up here for French, or here for English. It's that simple, and they actually originally did that with the Studio Tram Tour. You could do the same with a Smugglers Run, as that ride also has multiple ride rooms.
I'm honestly not impressed by this expansion. Sure for locals it means they can go to Frozenland without going to Hong Kong and to Avengers Campus, and potentially later Radiator Springs and discount Galaxy's Edge without needing to go to California, and it certainly benefits the company to save money on parts and R&D with having the same land in 2 or 3 parks, but this just continues the homogenisation of Disney. Each new expansion to one of the parks seems to reduce the unique experiences each one has, with Shanghai having quite literally one ride that's unique to it which cannot be experienced at Walt Disney World. At this rate I wouldn't be shocked if there's an actual goal within the company to make DisneyLand aimed entirely at the local California market, Shanghai at the domestic Chinese market, Paris at the families not willing to take a flight to Florida, and WDW being the only one aimed at being what we've come to expect a Disney resort to be. I wouldn't be shocked if eventually nothing an be found in any of the other parks that can't be found in WDW.
Well, not a lot of Europeans are willing to go to Florida for Walt Disney World. They are much more inclined to go to Disneyland Paris or one of the other parks (Efteling, Phantasialand, Europa Park, etc.) that can (easily) compete with Disneyland Paris in theming and rides. Bringing over rides from Florida and beyond would be a good move. Especially as the resort needs additions ASAP. This doesn't mean original rides should be abandoned, though. Not that I want to go into it much, but there's also the incentive to reduce air travel for the environment. It's already quite a topic in Europe at the moment, and I imagine it'll grow in years to come.
@@EspenSGX yes I'm aware that air travel is in the crosshairs of the faux environmentalist movement and that because actual environmentalists are marginalised in politics, and that European air travel is likely to be blindsided by it, economic cost and complete lack of environmental benefits be damned.
@@ZontarDow Well, while I don't want to go into the politics of it all. One thing is for sure, air travel will become more expensive. A family of four won't hop on a plane to Orlando without a strong, mostly financial, willingness to do so. If Disney wants their cash more easily, they better build more stuff closer by.
Definitely agree that a single completely unique land would have been a much bigger draw to get people to visit the Paris resort! Maybe the logic is just that they need to provide a compelling reason for EU visitors to spend overnights when they're visiting, and that they finally believe the Paris resort is worth real investment in order to make that happen. If so, these mostly copy-and-paste versions of successful lands from better parks will probably do the job.
Considering the look of that park to date and how underwhelming it is compared to the other Disney parks, Disney needs to not only bring the standard up to par, but in my opinion, they need to exceed those standards because this is unacceptable and the Disney fans in France deserve nothing less then the rest of us enjoy.
To some extent I agree that it would have been good to bring something unique to Paris, but I am desperate to do Rise of the Resistance and as a European, it’s just so expensive to travel to do that at the moment. But it looks like that might get cancelled anyway so 🤷♂️
I’ve got back from Disney Paris about 3 hours ago. Just to say the construction is well underway for Marvel. Crush’s coaster is completely underwhelming and could very much do with a massive upgrade!
Not looking like it's going to be what it was to be or what is needed. A series of rides already found in other parks while Ratatouille, the only ride that drew people to Paris, is not in Disney World. If even the lake show ends up being a hand me down low budget production this park will have a huge bill with little gained.
You'd think Disney could come up with something more original then a 1999 clone rollercoaster. But anyway add some flashing lights and theming and Whole new ride I guess.
That's like sitting in a food court in L.A. with twenty different eating places and different food to choose from and reading about a McDonalds being built in Ethiopia and being jealous. Weird.
A proper Universal park - so not taking over an existing park like they did with PortAvontura - would be most welcome in Europe. Universal should team up with WarnerMedia and build out the Harry Potter Studio Tour in Leavesden, north of London, to a full-on theme park. They basically only need to start by adding Forbidden Journey or the Gringotts darkride and maybe the Hagrid coaster and you have a banger of a groundwork to build upon.
I have always thought that Disney wasted an opportunity with its Star Wars Lands. Having them all be the same place seems redundant. They should have created DIFFERENT locations each time. When I go to California, I get one experience, Florida, something different, and so on and so on. Even if its just a skin job with the same rides inside. There are Star Wars fans that would travel to visit these different lands. They also have a problem with theming. Where they set the land in the timeline is no longer what people want to see.
The only thing I like about this expansion is that it just proves that the Tower of Terror and Avengers Campus can exist in the same park. They REALLY didn't have to replace the Tower of Terror in DCA just to be in a hurry of having a Marvel ride cause they wanna show off their IPs. That aside, only excited (I guess) for Avengers Campus (although tbh, what's an Avengers Campus even doing in a studios park???) The Frozen area is whatever... The Star Wars area? Honestly they're better off coming up with a a different theme cause Star Wars is not in a good spot after the disaster that was the sequel trilogy, no one really wants to be reminded of that, more so if it's gonna be set in the sequel trilogy. Anything's better than Star Wars by this point.
Or how about go into left field and do something unique like..instead of star wars, make it a little more Steam punk style and do Treasure Planet a land...no one else would have it, since it's pirate ish...you could play with a pirate of the carribean type ride, or Avatar type rides...
@@EspenSGX right! No one really needs all the shopping stuff. I just whish they would build endor. Would be a nice touch. Trying to get to endor with star tours for many years and the finally make it there. You could still use rise of the resistance if you change a few things but there could also t a ewok village with lots of smaller attraction for kids.
@@VivianRoldo While I definitely could see that, I think Soaring should go next to Star Tours in that bit of no man's land between Discoveryland and Fantasyland. That could also be a good spot for something like Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway and be Fantasyland, so maybe refurbishing the Videopolis building for Soaring could work too. That has a lot of nothing space and already an aeronautic theme thanks to its zappelin. As to why I actually don't want Soaring across the berm where Pizza Planet once was is that I think that would be an ideal spot for the TRON coaster. Because you have to go though the berm and underneath the railroad you have a divide, which is ideal because you can have the same modern futuristic design it has in the other parks and not clash with the Jules Verne classic futuristic style Discoveryland has.
@@EspenSGX A refurbishing Videopolis is really an extraordinary idea! The queue could be in the Videopolis Theater and the attraction behind the building. Definitely a good spot in Discoveryland!
When the expansion of WDS was announced, there was also said that the Disneyland Park will get a new attraction. And because of the actual copy+paste mentality of TWDC I hope that this new attraction would be Soarin
Sadly they have got rid of much of what I enjoyed in this park. Cinemagique, Moteurs Action and even Armageddon were unique and fun. The Star Wars Land and the Lake were the bits I was excited about in the announced expansion. But I have come to the conclusion, Tokyo is the only place to experience the Disney quality I grew to love. Sadly unaffordable.
The only reason to visit Euro Disney was Space Mountain - and that one is now gone. Europe has much better parks than Euro Disney and Europeans prefer to visit Disney World (than wasting time in Paris).
Let alone the fact that, starting from à 3-day stay, Disney World is actually CHEAPER than Paris, FLIGHT INCLUDED and service, activities and parks are simply in another league to Disneyland Paris' !
@@HliarusProd Totally agree! (plus: one can also visit Universal in Orlando and visit some gators) In Europe, other parcs offer a much better value than Euro Disney. Just to name a few: Asterix Park, Europa Park, Efteling, etc., etc.
Unfortunately I can't imagine we get the quinjet ride. Also I start to believe that the iron man overlay will be even lamer than hyperspace mountain. I heared them talk about three projection areas on the show building. So they are already cheaping out.
@@HliarusProd it's not really comparable as you would only go to Paris for four or five days maximum. believe me it isn't cheaper though, we have four children, we live in England, and in our seven seater we would get the ferry and drive there, stay somewhere like Davy Crockett ranch, while free Disney dining is on. And actually we could have five nights there for around £2000. A trip to Florida we are looking at £8000 minimum.
@@danmorley6517 And THAT is exactly the reason Disney should build out Disneyland Paris ASAP! You would think DLP being the #1 tourist attraction in Europe would mean Disney would take note that money is to be made here. For some unfathomable reason they don't. What they also don't recognize is the immense popularity of Donald Duck in Europe.
@@disneylover7117 that's because Tokyo Disney isn't owned by Disney. And the company that owns it understands the value of huge investments

You should check out Disneyland Paris on Google Maps (satellite photo). They basically have only filled half of the big circle of the resort. They could fit in two additional parks!
@@EspenSGX well 4800 acres was originally allocated for what is now known as Disneyland Paris so not surprised to hear that
Well, they are technically obligated by contract to open a 3rd park, so they have to keep some room somewhere I guess
This expansion is given me serious hodgepodge vibes. Disney shouldn’t forget that the secret of its theme parks’ outstanding success has always been caused by theming that feels organic.
it’s the same problem that california adventure has. but i get it the park has an identity crisis, but still
@@janellecooper6160 California Adventure is amazing by comparison. This is truly bad. The only good parts are the more recent rides/lands. Anything good at Walt Disney Studios Park that is from a while ago has been closed now
@@joevictor53 California adventure is still a terrible park. It was so good from 2012-2016 until they completely ruined everything
@@HWStrashcanlogo have you been to Walt Disney Studios Park?
@@joevictor53 yes and I’m going again this May
I most definitely hope this will bring great things to DLP.
The wonderland maze adds an unique and exploratory touch to the park though. It shouldn’t be removed imo.
@@EspenSGX that makes sense 👍
1000% agree on this
Did you seriously forget about Ratatouille?
Yeah, this park really does suffer from an identity crisis. It seems to be the trend: homogenize the parks with popular franchises to streamline production costs. Very economical, but not very imaginative I think.
The same with Hollywood Studios and California Adventure
I see that so badly with Disney California Adventure
100% agree, Disney dosent take as many risks as they use to before and there constant use of ip is fustrating.
I have an opinion on Shanghai disneyland, its a IP park but with Disneyland elements.
True
Probably the most right comment in the comments because I love the park too especially the parachute drop ride
Even with this entire expansion done, it's still not enough. This park simply needs A LOT attention.
@Nederland uit Nederland but what about the Europeans that can’t go to an American Disneyland like me
Walt Disney studios is my favourite theme park even over the Disneyland park if it didn’t have the parachute drop ride yes it would probably be rubbish but that parachute drop saved the park for me
@Nederland uit Nederland You have much more serious problems instead
Oh man there's such a good opportunity for a Princess and the frog sequel where Naveen opens a Tianas in France after the success in New Orleans, and similar to Disney in Paris, it struggles but just as Disney remembered the quality they can offer, Naveen and Tiana refine themselves for a super successful future. If Disney hasn't seen this great chance to thank Paris with a princess film, I hope that lightbulb goes off!!
Most underrated theme park youtuber!! 👍
So ratatouille is the most attended attraction in France. More than the Eiffel Tower.
@@cjf92 That makes sense, I guess it’s a logistics and repeatability thing.

@@jackdr20roblox29 the sarcasm.

Why is it that France always gets a "lite" version of every land?
Space probably
I agree. They need to do something that none of the other parks have.
Meanwhile, parks across europe are getting bigger, more advanced and more exciting. For 3 BILLION euros, this expension is really underwhelming
None of the lands excite me. Nothing original. WDSP needs an original attraction to really make this park a must do again.
They need to expand Disneyland Park too
Sadly Paris always gets the rough end of the stick. When Disney confirmed the extension plans I was very excited but now I have little hope left that Disney will save the studios park. Frozen ride is a clone of a not great ride, marvel land doesn't look great in California and star wars is all but cancelled. Paris deserves better
The Avengers Campus in DLP will be WAY better than what we got over in California trust me 😭
Walt Disney studios is not bad it’s outstanding
Yes Bob Chapek sucks as Disney Parks CEO he's going to have people mad on two Coasts in America And1 Park in Paris
I'm hoping they open Star Wars with Star Tours or something set in the original trilogy or Mando timeline
The future looks bright. I think with future lack of international travel, it's ok that parks have similar attractions.
I was definitely disappointed in the park when I visited it a few years ago. I'm so glad it's getting such a big upgrade. It really does need it.

Much needed anything in Studios. Will be happy to see how it turns out!
Yes!
I’m shocked Tower of Terror isn’t being re-themed to Mission Breakout, but instead being updated with new plots for each shaft.
@@EspenSGX My thoughts exactly! ;')

If the Cars Road Trip half-ass attempt is anything to go by…
If they made rise of the resistance but having it take place in the original trilogy you better believe I would be booking my flight!!
What about the FUTURE of Disneyland Paris 🤔
In that regard it is interesting they use the ground dug up for the WDS lake for a berm on the far side of the resort where current is only a road.
just be lucky that you’re keeping tower of terror…
I love tower of terror
And while DCA still has a long way to go, it is 99% better than it was when it opened and 1000 times better than Paris' Studio Park.
california adventure still has an identity crisis and they took tower of terror
I prefer the studios to the main park and stop mentioning the word cheap it’s getting on my nerves it’s not cheap
$2.3 billion for just 3 new rides?
Star wars land should be Avatar 2 instead..like Animal Kingdom
This was announced three years ago Marvel area is in full construction and due to open 2022 in time for the 30th anniversary
i couldn’t be less excited for all of the avengers campuses, considering all they’re willing to put it in has to be completely screen based, wonder if disney will abandon the idea before the land actually gets its own ride, not a arcade cabinet or a retheme with screens
In dlp we had rattatouile exclusive and now disney world has it to great
That Star Wars land could get canceled because of Bob Chapek being a cheap CEO
I can't help but think it'll take more than an expansion for WDS to be saved. It all just feels so, well, cheap. For example the walkthrough of Studio One is so cheap and tacky that it feels more like something from a Tussauds park like Thorpe Park than what you'd expect from The Walt Disney Company (the biggest insult you could give a theme park imo!)

This park, and the Disney Village outside, are complete trash. This investment is badly needed.
I mean, your choice
But wat
Man i loved the rocknrollercoaster as a kid. Why did it have to go.
I don’t understand the point of building anything Star Wars if it’s not going to be a fully immersive land.
@@EspenSGX it'll be a lot more then just Disney that'll need to change if the "feels goods do bads" types get their way on air travel.
My thought? That it's a mess over there in Paris.
O wow so maybe that Paris park will finally be a Disney park ❤️
Definitely agree that a single completely unique land would have been a much bigger draw to get people to visit the Paris resort! Maybe the logic is just that they need to provide a compelling reason for EU visitors to spend overnights when they're visiting, and that they finally believe the Paris resort is worth real investment in order to make that happen. If so, these mostly copy-and-paste versions of successful lands from better parks will probably do the job.
Opening with spider man web-slinger that’s in California adventure.
Me: I’m sorry :(
At least we finally get a Toy Story Mania-like ride. That should have opened with Toy Story Play Land!
Hopefully the Star Wars expansion is delayed also means it gets developed into a bigger more proper Galaxy's Edge. Highly doubt it, but that's my hope
Forget it. Disneyland Paris always gets cut down, half assed versions.
@@PHLFANJAN I know, which is why I said I highly doubt it. It is unfortunate though
Considering the look of that park to date and how underwhelming it is compared to the other Disney parks, Disney needs to not only bring the standard up to par, but in my opinion, they need to exceed those standards because this is unacceptable and the Disney fans in France deserve nothing less then the rest of us enjoy.
France? How about Europe? Every European Disney fan, visits Disneyland Paris.
@@NVMissiieey
Absolutely. Good point.
8:28 why not? Europe is at least an as big if not a bigger market for a Star Wars land
probably laws
Wait, they aren't building the coaster now, it was already here. It's a retheming
Seems really cool! But sadly I am in the us
That's like sitting in a food court in L.A. with twenty different eating places and different food to choose from and reading about a McDonalds being built in Ethiopia and being jealous. Weird.
Unserious, it’s a good thing I’ve never been to Disney land - but do not want to pay premium for non premium rides, or park for that sake.
they just wanna be mimic universal parks now rip 💔
A proper Universal park - so not taking over an existing park like they did with PortAvontura - would be most welcome in Europe. Universal should team up with WarnerMedia and build out the Harry Potter Studio Tour in Leavesden, north of London, to a full-on theme park. They basically only need to start by adding Forbidden Journey or the Gringotts darkride and maybe the Hagrid coaster and you have a banger of a groundwork to build upon.
I’m excited for the Star Wars land
Anyone can tell me where to find those Background music ?😅😁 please
Hey Alex, the background music for this video is the current Disney Hollywood Studios entrance loop! - Luke
They need more than this
I have always thought that Disney wasted an opportunity with its Star Wars Lands.
I want Splash Mountain at Disneyland Park in Frontierland
They can’t put it the because the water could freeze in the winter
@@jackdr20roblox29 - Well, they are putting Splash Mountain themed after “The Lion King” instead of “Star Wars”.
The only thing I like about this expansion is that it just proves that the Tower of Terror and Avengers Campus can exist in the same park. They REALLY didn't have to replace the Tower of Terror in DCA just to be in a hurry of having a Marvel ride cause they wanna show off their IPs.
That aside, only excited (I guess) for Avengers Campus (although tbh, what's an Avengers Campus even doing in a studios park???)
The Frozen area is whatever...
Turns out the “Star Wars” land area will end up being a land inspired by “The Lion King”. Which is both a timeless and unique idea.
Or how about go into left field and do something unique like..instead of star wars, make it a little more Steam punk style and do Treasure Planet a land...no one else would have it, since it's pirate ish...you could play with a pirate of the carribean type ride, or Avatar type rides...
Sorry, but I only care about the Frozen Land 😂
Has to be one of the most forgotten Disney Parks
Not the worst but you can’t spend all day in it
I had to pause this video halfway through because mum Sarcasm-o-Meter exploded 😄👌👍
I’m desperate for galaxy’s edge to come to Paris
A smaller scale Star Wars land... So in other words they weren't going to build Rise of Resistance.
Actually, it looked like they only were going to build Rise of the Resistance or something like it. Which would be a giant plus for the park.
Well. I don’t really want a Frozen or Star Wars land… I want Soarin over the World (or Europe?) 😭
A Soaring similar to the one in Tokyo DisneySea would fit right into Discoveryland in Disneyland Park next door!
@@EspenSGX Exactly! Behind Space Mountain, at the spot where Pizza Planet was…
@@VivianRoldo While I definitely could see that, I think Soaring should go next to Star Tours in that bit of no man's land between Discoveryland and Fantasyland.
And because of the actual copy+paste mentality of TWDC I hope that this new attraction would be Soarin
wait?! WHAT??? if they cancel the star wars land I'm going to riot XD. That was the one thing I was exited for ;_;
Exciting future of universal studios Singapore when, sigh
4 years to our super Nintendo land, supposedly. . .
Good
Sadly they have got rid of much of what I enjoyed in this park.
Moteurs actions stays :)
@@melissaa3017 Are you sure? The garage is gone
(plus: one can also visit Universal in Orlando and visit some gators)
In Europe, other parcs offer a much better value than Euro Disney. Just to name a few: Asterix Park, Europa Park,
Efteling, etc., etc.
@@HliarusProd interesting! I’ve only been to Disneyland in California. I do plan on visiting every Disney Park & Paris being one of them too
I wonder what Disneyland Paris has planned for their Marvel Avengers campus land outside what is already known.
Unfortunately I can't imagine we get the quinjet ride. Also I start to believe that the iron man overlay will be even lamer than hyperspace mountain. I heared them talk about three projection areas on the show building. So they are already cheaping out.
It will be an embarrassment if they only build frozen and marvel, it means they will have added a grand total of one attraction in terms of numbers.
This whole park and resort to a lesser extent is a major embarrassment anyway, it's not like Disney Co cares anymore.
@@HliarusProd it sucks for those who live in Europe who can only afford to visit Paris.
@@danmorley6517 the thing is, for stays longer than 3 days, it's actually cheaper to go to Florida anyway, including plane tickets
I’m outside for the Star Wars land
