Splendida interpretazione di questo capolavoro, tecnica, profondita' ed una incomparabile conoscenza dell'animo Schumanniano...grazie per questa perla!

Extraordinary! She was one of the greatest pianist in the world. I love her since my fifteen years in the "Variations sérieuses" of Mendelssohn (Decca 1971).
    I miss you.

One of the best recordings of this work. Incredibly energetic in the first movement with heartbreaking beauty in the fourth.

I had the privilege to hear Alicia de Larrocha perform the Schumann Concerto with the Colorado Springs Symphony 40 years ago. Alicia was amazing, the CSS not so much. However, she was professional and did a little bow from the bench when the audience applauded at the end of the first movement. I always mentioned this to my students, that you always acknowledge applause, even if it's misplaced.
As far as Fachingsshwank, Alicia turned anything she touched into gold.

This is the first time I have heard Alicia and I was thoroughly impressed by her technique and interpretation of this wonderful piece by Schumann.

by far the best of the intermezzo.

danschmeidler yes, she plays it at a tempo that allows the melody to sing out and keep the undulating 16th note triplets from overpowering

It's the movement that she played the worst. The others are perfect.

Only comparable to Michelangelis version, a dream of tone, touch and agogic. Why couldn’t she become as famous as him, so deserved!

Funny that 2 Latin pianists (Argerich of course is the other havent heard the wonderful can't remember the other wonderful South American female who Nelson Frere seems to have knwn ) and females are really some of the best Schumann we have Claudio Arrau made a name for himself in schumannn too .charm and piano sound is always his top qualities ! ! I luv what she does in the slower section of the 1st number in voicing the heavy chords . she is a marvel !

AdL is such a top pianist in this kind of repertoire (Schumann, Chopin,...). Her type of reading of pieces is similar IMO to (oldish years of) Rubinstein's point of view.

I love bullshit car ads coming up two bars into the Intermezzo's climax. Schumann would've wanted it this way.

I can't believe Maria Pires has not given us much Schumann . It seems to fit her even more than Chopin wich she is so rightfully famous ! Would loveto hear Lupu and Pires in this . Heard Perahia live decades ago and it is still one of my best remembered musical events . Music became like a living person (s) when he played this in a rather small room so long ago !

John Martin I believe Maria Pires has just recently released a Schumann album, which includes this set!

Boy she's plays the hell of this piece of Schumann, but I don't care for much of Schumann. He has this tendency to repeat certain little phrases ad nausium. But I love Alicia. Long may she live in Our Collect Memory as among our best. CVD

How dare you! I ought to give you a piece of my mind! Schumann is one of the greatest. (Well, everyone is entitled to an opinion, I guess.)

LOL--if you don't like repetition, then check out the final movement of Schumann's Quartet op 41 #3. The attractive theme comes back over and over again.
