Hi, how do you retain the right temperature zone and keep humidity in your pacman frog's tank? I'm brand new to owning an amphibian and have noticed I have to spray down my juvenile frog's tank multiple times a day. I'm thinking about getting a timed fogger, but do you have any recommendations for heating and moisture? Super helpful tutorial. Edit: I should also note I don't have a lid for my enclosure at the moment, should I get a screen lid?
hey love the video but 2 questions If im using a heatmat will they need a heat lamp or a uvb And can i just use purecoco fiber all through the enclosure or will i need a drainage layer Thanks
Is that front opening tank actually for a leopard gecko? I think its definitely setup incorrectly if it is. They need at least 3 hides, with one being a moist hide.
i have an albino pac man frog he has around 6 inches of substrate he’s a baby tho he’s about the size of a golf ball maybe smaller, but i’ve had him for 3 days and he hasn’t ate , my room stays at 72°F bc i also have a couple other reptiles does he need a lamp? maybe he lacks uvb? the substrate is fairly moist so im sure he’s okay i took the temp of his terrarium and it’s at 74°F am i doing something wrong ?
Hello! I have my first pacman frog and live in a relatively cold place (winters the inside of the house can match outside temperatures). I’m thinking of getting an automatic mister and a heat light to make sure the humidity and temperature are in a safe range (10 gallon tank), what would you recommend? Would only one Arcadia deep heat projector work or do I need 2? I give my frog vitamin D3 so I’m looking for a non UVB light that won’t upset him since I am sometimes away from home for a few days straight for work.
You can use a lot of garden soils but just be careful for artificial fertilizer cause they will absorb it into there skin and it can be toxic other than that most organic garden soils work great
hey I got a Pac-man frog a few months ago and recently they haven't been eating I did however just redo his tank do you think they could just be stressed? (i say they because i have no idea what sex they are)
He could be but usually mine will start eating a day after I’ve rearranged the tank. Try feeding at night and turn off all the lights. Wait about an hour after that turn on your phone flashlight and see if he is out a little with his eyes wide open. If he is he’s definitely ready to eat
Hello, do I need complete darkness for their day night cycle? Im kinda worried that my room will be still bright as my room need some light on at night before bed time
i live in a really hot area that has days where my room reaches 96-100°. do you have any advice on how i can cool down my enclosure when this happens ? our AC has been out n i’ve been getting worried for my pacman
Hi! I had the same problem, I started freezing the soil for a few days, then letting it sit out and get to room temp before putting it in the tank. No more flies!
Iv had issues for months having my Pac-Man frog consistently eat. He eats about once a month a few night crawlers. He’s rejected every other food Iv offered besides that. Should I force feed him he’s getting really small. He’s two years old
Sorry for the late reply, but pacmans around 2 years old should eat about once every week, but feed him more during the feeding. I had the same problem, also get a temperature gun to monitor his temperature. I know you might hear that alot but after finding out my buddy was 68.8 degrees, i warmed him up then he ate 2 whole crickets! Keep in mind, mine is a baby
I have a question could I have the same setup you have here but just add isopods so they can just eat when they want and I don’t have to clean. Is that ok? Oh and do you have to feed them mice or can you just feed them isopods
Hey, thanks for the video. Very informative. I do have two questions I have a 20 gallon bowfront tank do you think that would be sufficient? Also, what are your feelings on using potting soil specifically mother earths brand Terra craft soil? Thanks In advance
A 20 gallon I would be good just make sure it has enough space for a thick layer of substrate And idk about the soil maybe look up to see if it is chemical free
Planning on getting a Pacman frog myself, is a lamp absolutely necessary or will they be okay without one? I absolutely will buy one if they need it :) I’m just worried about how cold it gets in my bedroom, and wouldn’t want the frog to get too cold
My frog is now a year old and I have been using the coco fiber Sphagnum Peat Moss soil and he is now overweight and flipping over. I am so worried about him.
70-80 I think is too narrow. Most houses will dry out a tank really fast so that’s why I say 50-80. 60 -80 is pretty ideal but for people who live in houses with AC and heat it is very difficult to keep it so high or even people who live in very dry climates. Mine are doing fine and are 3+ years old now.
I feed my pac man frog crickets and I don’t really know how much I should put in there at a time or if I should keep them in there for a few days, can anyone help me with what I should do
You should definitely have plenty of soil like EcoEarth (coconut fiber). B/c they like to burrow into dirt. They're not aquatic frogs, they suck at swimming.
@@brannonwallace450 ok than i am going to really hate - He describes his Philosophy about animal husbandry.. says that he want to mimic as close as possible their natural Habitat - Than we see a 10 Gallon Tank filled halfway with dirt, a waterbowl and 2 fake Plants .. i mean come on seriously ? Yeah it’s called estivation but it’s the same thing just a form of hibernation. Mine do it right after it’s officially winter and you can really feel the cold they will burrow and stay down until it’s over then be out everyday.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse my frog has never done this thankfully Maybe it's because I keep the tank warm all the time and the room the tank is in also doesn't get very cold
Nice vid very informative - I was hoping to see a hamster dinner at the end, but regardless it’s very informative. Living in South Texas I wish I could just let them loose in the house to control the cockroaches.
I disagree with you about exo terra enclosures they ate perfect for pacmans. U build the substrate up so its deeper at back for burrow. You actually see more of their natural behaviour in an exo tank. Peat is terrible for environment 😊
No worries I’ve changed my mind watch my new guide I had a complete turn around haha. Also I know but there isn’t other options. Repti soil is peat. Top soil is peat. There’s just no regular dirt. The landscaping businesses just only use peat.
Short and packed with the right information. Thank you! 👌
How often you do change the substrate? Would it molding be a problem?
Not if you add springtails
Why did i read this as “how to care for pac-man”
Haha now I can’t read it any other way.
pac man's usually eat ghosts, so you're gonna wanna feed them your family

@@ChiefSweetsUniversedo u have to change substrate
Do you ever have to change out the substrate? And if so, how would you do it?
You just scoop out some of the substrate and add new substrate. :D

this is so usefully been thinking about getting one and this video is just so great!

Yes you can I would do it every 6 months or 1 year

I got my baby Pac-Man yesterday and this is very helpful (:

@@ChiefSweetsUniverse also, I see some people use gloves when they remove the babies from enclosure. Is that necessary??

Is it possible to make a bioactive ecosystem for this type of frog or will eat all the isopods and springtails?
I keep mine bioactive and they don’t eat them. It’s very possible to go bioactive with these guys
Do feel mesh lids work well enough for humidity, or would a glass lid be necessary?
My mesh lids do fine haven’t ever had issues really
