I Remember Back In 2000, I Saw Blue Oyster Cult Downtown Cleveland, Ohio In The Flats At A Place Called Fagan's. It Was The Loudest Concert I Ever Went To. And 2 Years Later, I Was At A Place Called Bottom's Up On W. 117th One Evening, And I Met A Friend, And We Were Collaborating About Music. And I Told Him I Saw Blue Oyster Cult At Fagan's, And He Told Me He Was At That Concert. I Told Him They Were The Loudest Group I've Ever Heard At That Concert. And He Told Me Gov't Mule Was The Loudest Concert He Ever Went To. I Didn't Know Who Gov't Mule Was At The Time, So When He Told Me They Were The Loudest Group He's Heard In Concert, I Always Figure Gov't Mule Was A Heavy Metal Group Until Years Later After I Met A Gorgeous Lady In Her 40's Who Was A Cashier At Convenient Food Mart On Madison Ave. Her Name Was Kristy. She Had A Great Taste Of Music. She Liked Pink Floyd, And All Of The Other Good Groups. She Seemed Like A Hippie. She Also Liked Blues Music. And She Told Me She Listens To Gov't Mule! And I Asked Her, Aren't They A Death Metal Or A Heavy Metal Group? And She Said No. They Are The Likes Of The Almond Brothers Band, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, And So On. And I Thought To Myself, Oh My God! Wow! I Can't Believe That Guy At Bottom''s Up Told Me That Gov't Mule Was The Loudest Concert He's Ever Heard, And He Saw Blue Oyster Cult At Fagan's And That's Where I First Saw Them With My Dad! He Couldn't Stand How Loud They Were. Blue Oyster Cult Was So Loud That Night That My Dad Went Outside Of The Club For About 20 Or 25 Minutes. That's How Loud It Was! And Blue Oyster Cult Played At Fagan's ONLY ONCE! I CANNOT Picture A Progressive Blues Rock Group Play Louder Than Blue Oyster Cult At Fagan's! NOT EVEN A Toss Up! Blue Oyster Cult May Have Been A Super 70's Group, But They Were Classified As A Heavy Metal Group At The Time. Especially In The 80's. Oh, By The Way, This Is A Good Gov't Mule Concert! I Remember Kristy The Cashier Let Me Borrow One Of Her Gov't Mule CDs And It Was Good! These Guys Jam!
Haynes is such an amazing musician! Govt Mule is a great band and his vocals and playing are always on point. As well as Govt Mule he helped reinvigorate the Allman Btothers Band (especially after Derek joined,) played with The Other Ones really understood the music, source material and overall feel of what was needed from his role especially vocally saving many songs from the misinterpretations presented by Joan Osborne, He would jump in midway through songs to take over for her who was chopping the songs badly. Joan is a good singer but not in that instance. Warren will play with anyone and always finds his fit within structure of whomever he is playing with.
I've honestly forgotten how many times I've seen the mule superb good old rock and roll, BTW anyone thinks Matt Abts looks like John Malkovich with a wig?
I asked Brian Farmer (Warren's guitar-tech r.i.p.) about it back in 2009. If i remember right he told me: Andy wanted to move on and play in other groups as well. He was then playing with Joan Osbourne.
I've never seen this band live, but they are on my bucket list. Every member of this band is 100% on their game!
This band is an absolute killer live. Must-see. Even go to another country, thank me later.
Warren was so happy while playing Soulshine. What a great performance. Gov’t mule forever
Peace
This band is grooving so hard, way too much. Killer.
Warren is a special artist!! Can't wait to see the band in South FL soon!
This band is awesome!!
Excellent concert from an excellent band
