Um......no.
Jim Cheseborough it's not up for debate, so go tippy tappy somewhere else, Gomeril
What i love about this iconic clip is the commentators let the moment just speak for itself deciding to just SHUT UP. All the best commentators do that.
YES! too many commentators across all sports love the sound of their own voices and feel the need to talk over everything. They did it well here, letting the moment speak for itself and speaking at the right moment
I was 25 years old and had tears in my eyes as I watched this live . I'm 63 now and once again have tears in my eyes . They say Golf is a Gentleman's Game , THE GOLDEN BEAR was the epitome of it !
You aged 38 years in only 19 years?
@@Mark-sj3xb You are CORRECT ! I was 45 . Thanks for catching my typo error !
This is totally a class of athlete above all others!
Farewell celebration is so emotional to him
We will never see his like again.
Nicklaus showed the world what made him so great for the last time.
The greatest golfer to ever play the game, with all due respect to the other great golfers, including Tiger.
Class acts are for people who hold themselves to a higher standard on and off the course, So you can rule out Tiger Woods
@@jamessveinsson6006 tigers better tho
@@kamalmurphy734 Tiger gave it Hades for 10-12 years. Jack played consistently well for 45 years. Tiger more spectacular with today's juiced ball and futuristic clubs - but do you realize how far Jack drove those OLD balls in the '60's and '70's? The numbers back up the fact that Jack Nicklaus is the best golfer who ever played the game.
@@4orrcountry nah, Tigers better in any era clearly.
Second greatest ever, but you were very close!
My childhood golfing hero right there.
Jack played pretty well that week with rounds of 75 & 72 missing the cut by only two shots. Jack said later..."it was the first time I shot EVEN par all year."
Damn, that's so good for 65. Or 55, 45, 35...
July 15, 2005. The day a king ruled Great Britain.
What a man , What a legend !! Not only the best golfer of all time , but also the best ambassador for sport for all time !!! QUITE SIMPLY THE GREATEST !!1
I was getting choked up watching this live back then, still do now.
The one and only! Golden Bear. 👍🏼
Got to see him in the 1963 Palm Springs Golf Classic Desert Springs was that Indian Wells? Been a long time ago , his playing mates were Gary Player and Arnold Palmer, watched them play 17 and 18 what a memorable life moment, I was only bout 18 years old, WOW!
Watched it live at the time the emotion of Jack Nicklaus standing on the Swilken Bridge and inviting Tom Watson and Luke Donald up as well and making that put for Birdie...Give credit to Luke Donald who i think knew how special it would be for Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson to walk off together arms around each other just like the Dual in the Sun at Turnberry in 1977 Fitting end to a wonderful Career
Seems impossible that this summer standing on that same bridge will be Tom Watson again, this time saying goodbye as Arnie and Jack did before him. Could the last 10 years have gone by any faster?
What a great tribute for a great man and supported by a wonderful family ……next time your in England Jack please come down to my golf club 👍🏻
beautiful time!!!!!♡♡
I love it!
What a beautiful course
The best that ever played. Jack!
At 05:17, after all the emotion to that point, you can see his amazing mind shift focus to "OK, what's our shot here?"
Scotland showing class here. Good on you scotts.
ThingsAreLookingUp It's spelt Scots, with a capital 'S'.
who gives a shit?ds1868
ThingsAreLookingUp Since I'm a Scot, I do. Now get lost and learn some manners.
ds1868 Well you take your nationalism too seriously. Lighten up Nancy.
hearts76100 lol, such inferiority complex you scotts have.
The greatest there has ever been or will ever be!
Nicklaus is the GOAT of all sports GOATs.
I was there, watching my idol of decades. I still choke up seeing him on the bridge. And look at him bring up his playing partners and their caddies. It's a priceless moment from a great golfer -- and gentleman. No discussion. No fiddling about this and that. Jack is, hands down, the BEST EVER! One of the great moments in sports history. And just look at Barbara! Watch his feet as he sets up for the final putt. He always said putting was about FEEL -- and we see here, it's not just the hands, but the feet. Woods was all about money, but Jack is about family and THE GAME.
You don’t need to argue. Hahaha. The best ever
I have to admit this brought a tear to my eye , bitter-sweet moment.
great golfer and even greater man, we love you Jack!
Golden Bear forever!
I could watch this over and over. Pure class!
PURE CLASS !!!
A legendary way to end a legendary career. Nicklaus with a Birdie
The classiest, greatest golfer all all time. Long live the Bear.
Second greatest ever, but you were very close!
@@chezchezchezchez Possibly Hogan would have won more majors if not for WW2 and missing every british open except one because of a scheduling conflict with the PGA. Tiger beat hacks and stopped winning long before his accident. Plus he was crooked off the tee. He would be third for his hot start against no names.
@@thetruthfornow6045 Nelson was beating Hogan more often than Hogan was beating Nelson before Nelsons retirement though (to be fair to Hogan he improved his game after this so who knows). So thats dependent on Nelsons retirement not taking at least some of the majors he actually did win of Hogan.
The greatest, Still very emotional seeing this,
How could anybody give this a thumbs down. Good lord
The greatest golfer - ever.
Anthony Mead *2nd greatest. 🐅🐐
@@bigghitter7 So who's the greatest then? And don't say Woods, 'cos he isn't.
@@bigghitter7 Tiger will NEVER have the career Jack had. Tiger can NEVER say "I took on the greatest golfers in the history of the game".
And Tiger has so many more advantages than Jack had; better equipment, easier courses, medical science that saved him from being a busted up cripple, walking with a cane the rest of his life. And most importantly; Tiger has NO class. Jack had infinite class.
Image if Nicklaus had the equipment Tiger has...........
Pure class -- there will never be another. GOAT.
My lord, what a beautiful moment for a great champion, and most importantly, a great man.
You know, knowing this was his final goodbye to the game of golf, Mr. Nicklaus could have been selfish. He could have stood on that foot bridge for the final time, made it about himself, and NOBODY would have given it a second thought. Hell, you could tell Tom Watson wanted ZERO part in standing up there with Jack, because he knew it was HIS moment, and Tom knew Jack deserved ALL the applause for being the great golfer and sportsman he was.
But that wasnt Jack, and he went out of his way to share that moment not only with his son, and the caddies, but one of his greatest competitors and friends as well. That says it all about Mr. Nicklaus.
A great champion, but an even better person. I love you Jack. Youll always be one of my heroes, and it was such an honor to watch you play the game of golf.
What a man, what a golfer, best ever,
The Champion Of Champions.
THANK YOU JACK
What a moment.
Easy to forget that Luke Donald was in this group, nice of Jack to invite him up for the bridge photographs as well.
YEH & as great as Jack & Tom where.... Luke was a better stricker with iron clubs⛳⛳😬😬⛳⛳
Lovely man, and such grace. Love you Jack - complete legend.
