    As a professional fibreglasser for 50 years, retired, this is one of the few videos that know what you are doing and aren't frustrating to watch. Well done.

    Nice one Rex. I had planned to build a Tiki 21, but my funds did not agree. Maybe next year I will build one or maybe a Wizard by Richard Woods

    Very cool ,what a great sensible way to build a boat...alot of thought went into this design for the builder...it's a work of art..!..how many sheets of plywood does it take.?.. sorry in advance of I missed those details.

    • @RexandKathie
      @RexandKathie  3 года назад

      Michael, We used 20 sheets of 6 mm and 1 of 15 mm. That does not allow for any errors and the 15 mm does require careful arrangement of parts in order to get by with just one sheet. Thanks for watching.

    After the first vid you've answered my questions... RE fully glassed bottom and great finnish on epoxy... When I paint it on it fish eyes... Any thoughts on that ?
    She's looking great that's for sure...

      Sounds like contamination on the cured epoxy or amine blush.

    I believe Kathie said Meranti Plywood and Rex says Fir on the keel. The Study plans just say plywood. Since it looks like you guys know what your doing, what type(s) of plywood do you recommend?
    I was planning on ordering appropriate sized Okoume.
    Thanks!

      We usually use meranti, though we have used fir and okume. Fir will check if not fiberglassed , just epoxy sealing it will not fix this problem. Okume is lighter and not as rot resistant as meranti. Meranti is more rot resistant, durable, heavier and cheaper than okume. If you are building a race boat use okume and seal it well. We use fir only when we can't get meranti or okume. In our opinion, meranti is a prettier wood when finished bright of the 3. Thanks for watching.

      Check out our Episode 26, this link, ruclips.net/video/U_NFPiPOL90/видео.html It is a slideshow of our time sheet up to that point, with costs and time spent. You will have to pause video at each page to read but better than nothing. Thanks for watching.

    So just 1 sheet of glass? Thought you would lay a few layers of glass?

    • @RexandKathie
      @RexandKathie  3 года назад

      Yeah just one layer, that is all that its called for, doubled on the keel.

    • @peterk7377
      @peterk7377 3 года назад

      @@RexandKathie yeah makes sense to put more on keel. I just thought it would have been several layers. I guess it doesn't need it. Good work...
