Wonderful videos Dr. Jasper. Would you please consider recording a video that talks about general hiring trends (past and present) from an admin’s point-of-view, and how current job applicants might be able to overcome any hiring bias? I’m curious to learn about what factors a hiring committee uses to make their recommendations when looking to fill a teacher vacancy (any grade and any subject). My background and training is in music education. If I’m not having much success in getting hired, would it be worth considering getting a particular endorsement to increase my chances of getting hired? Or is it too late since I’m an older applicant? Thank you.

Music is a tough position to get hired in because there is usually just 1 or 2 per school. You may want to consider getting certified in elementary education or something else to increase your chances of getting a job. It is NEVER too late. If you want to teach, you should keep trying. Getting an additional certification will help.

Thank you!! I’m about to take my objective test for child psychology and this really helped instill the assessments into my brain! 🧠 I feel more confident now 🎉❤

Hi there. AI can be a great help in learning, but it's not 100% accurate, so it is always important to double-check everything.

My daughter is taking the special ed test soon and and I see you have three books pretaining to that. Are they pretty much the same or is there different content in them. We wanted to order one, but not sure which!

Hi there. The Praxis SPED 5543 and 5354 are the same test, but 5543 includes the constructed response portion. The test is designed for examinees who plan to teach in a special education program at any grade level from preschool through grade 12. The questions on the test assess an examinee’s knowledge of the basic principles of special education and the application of these principles to realistic situations. Its focus is on five major content areas: Development and Characteristics of Learners, Planning and the Learning Environment, Instruction, Assessment, and Foundations and Professional Responsibilities. While 5355 focuses on these areas: Human Development and Individual Learning Differences, Effective Planning and Instruction, Productive Learning Environments, Assessments, and Professional Learning, Practice, and Collaboration.
Depending on the state in which she is seeking certification, exams will vary. That’s why it is extremely important to check with your state’s Department of Education before you purchase test prep materials to determine exactly which tests you are required to take.

This is a very informative video on assessments. But, I feel these are too many to use from both a teacher's and students' point of view. How do we fit these in our lesson plan?

This is a list of all the possible assessments you might be tested on. I would use formative assessments daily or weekly and then use a summative at the end of a unit. However, you will use all of these assessments at some point as an educator. Thanks for watching.

Hi, and thank you for the wonderful explanations about assessment the students and the differences between them. Can you give an example of the sticker notes about the "Aha" what questions does students in this sticker notes?

You can write the following on the board and hand out sticky notes.
Please write this on your sticky note:
      3
      2
      1
Then write three things you learned, two ahas, and on question you have. Here’s an example:
3- all cells come from other cells, cells are basic unit of life, cells have evolved
2-plant & animal cells are different, cells die
      3-how do cells copy themselves?
These do not have to be complete sentences. It is just a quick thought for each. They may need 2 sticky notes. Thanks for watching 😊
