Man our people just settle. Most don't push our kids to study and get an actual career including my family. Most just go to physical labour and the parents are happy with it. Best thing I ever did was to start reading. I then taught myself how to learn. The way we learn in school is the lowest form of learning. There's learning techniques that will help you learn anything. I taught myself how to code/program for free. Heaps of free resources nowadays. Now im in software and i try to teach my cousins and friends etc but like always, they're comfortable working where they're at. You have to put in the work. Start by reading "Atomic habits" and build on that. There's even a short video of the book if you're not a reader. I want my people to do just as well as the other nationalities. Even our diet is bad and i try to educate my family and friends about food. I get it, i love food but i also dont want diabetes at a young age. Heart disease etc.
The hairy uso at 27:00 is valid, polynesians are blessed genetically in many ways and many of our people do not take advantage of this ability. Lulled instead by the comfort of insatiable consumerism. The blueprint is inherent in our dna, to not acheive the potential is a travesty.
She’s just yapping bro our people struggle everywhere no matter where we are. Yeah we got Samoans struggling in the islands, but life ain’t just that easy once you come here to Australia or New Zealand etc.We got Samoans involved in gangs,a generation of Samoans that don’t even know whose in the islands like I’m the second generation here in Australia,my son is literally the third and we have no clue about our family in samoa. Time goes on,no matter what we do we’re still Samoan by blood. It’s not that our people in New Zealand and Australia have to give back, everyone’s gotta work for it no humbling needed. I bet you our families didn’t get no handouts to help here we worked for it
I think she's talking about Samoans who get roles because they are Samoans and then not bring people up or bring awareness to the come culture. Yes could refer to all samoans overseas, she might just mention samoan in nz because she's in NZ.
The era of the Vikings spanned around AD 800 to 1050, The Polynesian people were colonising the Pacific during that same period. There is no way the Viking people would of been aware of Polynesian people. The first recorded encounter between Polynesians and European was 600 years later when Tasman explored the pacific. The only connection between Vikings and Polynesians was in Te Rangihiroa's book Vikings of the Sunrise which made the comparison between Polynesians and the Vikings because they both were seafaring peoples. That book was published in the twentieth century so relatively modern. Sorry Guys
