- Upgraded my Ares Ion to the Glaive during the 2023 Alien Week as I fell in love with those hard hitting guns and relatively good agility.
Sure it cant take a hit, sure it suffers 'Alien tax' at $350 but...Just look at it and tell me you don't want one!
It is also worth noting that the Glaive and Scythe had a complete rework for sq42 which will eventually carry over to the PU. The new style is closer to the Espira Blade, granted that is replica and not an captured original vanduul ship that was refitted for humans like the scythe and glaive. It looks a lot more aggressive and less glued together but also cleaner.

As much as I love the look of my Scythe and Blade. I love the reworks even more. Actually I think the reworked Scythe is my favourite, too bad actually owning a Scythe is so extremely rare.

After renting one of these at IAE I’ve decided I want one, going to try and get a CCU chain for it.
One other thing when buying the Glaive is that it’s one of the only ships you can’t buy in game, so it’s kinda worth the money.
I picked one up and thought I would regret it but I ended up loving this thing. I can't wait for the rework! I do wish it was the same color as the Sythe.
Traded in my Harbinger for a Glaive this week. I questioned my sanity for a bit, then I flew the actual thing. Zero regrets. YMMV, but for me, it was a good swap. Only things I don't like about it are superficial like no alternative paints or the fact that your pilot is in a really awkward prone position which makes my neck hurt just looking at it.
Glad to hear you also enjoy - my only gripe so far has been when you land and it just bounces around. Makes rearm and repair a nightmare and also when just running bunkers when you are in and out the ship alot
there was one night in the ptu where we had this griefer in a glaive outside of everus harbor. he was absolutely SMACKING everyone in that thing.

Agreed, not worth the price, but it is a super cool ship and fills a unique role. Although not a meta ship, there are a couple pilots who are good pvp'ers with it.
For people who want to fly a similar ship without selling a kidney, the $20 Imperator subscription to Star Citizen gives you access to the Scythe for the duration of the subscription.
The scythe has the exact same gun damage with but with less missiles, and similar maneuverability(although arguably worse atmospheric handling).

Really like the whopping damage. It only took me one minute for clearing those Illegal Monitor mission in my glaive. Easy 20k for a mere 5 minutes play (incl travel).
But I wonder what is your power triangle settings? I keep mine constantly in 42 + 42 + 17, with shield the least priority. Boosting it to 100% shield in case the shield down.
And I also wonder how you remain calm with zero shield like in that first fight? I always boost away and wait until my shield recovers. In my other experience, I am dead or lose engine if I took like one or two damage after my shield went down
I tend to go 100 weapon or 33/33/33 as it's easy to do so with a double tap of F5 then a quick F8 to reset when the shields need charging.
Remain calm as I've used the Glaive a while now and while it's not ideal to be shot at whilst 0 shields it seems tanky enough to get by
A popular technique among pilots is to put 100% a system as needed, and cycle between the 3 with hotkeys.
When guns are charging power into guns.
Once guns are full, power back into shields or engines.
The choice between shields and engines is a matter of preference and situation. Shields will not only change your recharge rate, but also shield damage mitigation. Just remember, if shields are down, and not recharging, the power to shields is being waisted.
Many prefer engines most of the time if they use boost a lot. Remember it makes your boost more efficient in addition to faster recharge.
How did you make it so the guns fire 1 at a time instead of both fire at once?

The biggest problem with the Glaive is the same nerfed 3000 charge that all ships smaller than Connie have. The size 5 cannons slap on the first pass, but compare their charge rate to the 15,000 that you get on size 5 cannons on the Connie. With ships being bullet sponges, that sustained dps nerf is why ships like the Arrow and Gladius are so dominant -- they put out almost as much sustained dps as something like the Glaive but can aim faster and dodge better.
The Glaive's size 5 cannons do have the benefit of range advantage so you can keep away from a HH just outside the range of its Rhinos and plink it to death.
How do you disable the size 1 guns?
I always miss the Glaive sale. It's like they sell it for just a few hours and boom gone. I do have a Blade and a Talon though. Talon with AD4B's slaps like 'Huggy Bear' the Pimp.
It's not a time limited sale like the Hull C, Phoenix etc. As long as you've completed Vanduul Swarm and it's Alien week you should see the option to upgrade to a Glaive in the 'My Hangar' - Upgrades section. You can only own one at a time though as I found out by trying to grab a few spare CCUs 🤣

I've been in and out with the Glaive over the years. Naturally, I hate light/medium fighters... I feel most are overpriced. The Glaive, chief among them. However it's style just calls to me lol. That and the BD. But recently the Glaive has been pretty shit for me. Weapons crapping out mid combat or not reloading like they should. I've been trying to enjoy it as of late but it's just not cutting it for me.
Sorry to hear it's been giving you trouble - only issues I've had so far are the bounciness whilst landing making it quite the rough bunker runner. Rearming I've found I can get away with hovering just above - guns have been fine in combat
which star citizen ship is actally worth its money, apart from the starters that all suck in some different way?
Cutlass Black and Constellation Taurus are fairly good for what they offer but yeah - starter and earning in game is the big brain play
you should pledge for the taurus, since you only lose an armed turret and a couple of missiles, you keep most of the firepower the andromeda has to offer, which makes the 50 dollars "discount" and nearly doubled scu storage very worth it
with the "discount" you can pretty much buy the mustang game package and save 5 dollars afterwards as to buying the andromeda for 240 (the taurus costs 190)
dont upgrade your starter mustang or whatever, else you'll spend just as much as buying standalone and you lose your smaller ship

Want a fighter? Mustang alpha is probably the best bang for the buck at $30, and is arguably the best fighter under $75. If you want a true top tier meta fighter that is a good value, Arrow($75) or Gladius($90) are your options. Arrow is cheaper but a higher skill cap. Gladius is probably the #1 most flown fighter by experts, and will always be a very good ship, because it is at the forefront of development, being the hero ship for SQ42.
