- May 2024 update for my Buys and Byes series! In this video I give mini reviews for the empties for May and also any purchases made during the month. I also discuss value of empties and prices for new products in relation to my "controlled buy” beauty budget for 2024 beauty purchases. #buysandbyes #byesandbuys #makeuphaul #makeupempties #makeupbudget #beautybudget

What is a “controlled buy”? This year I have decided to continue my beauty budget. I put $75 per paycheck (26 paychecks per year) into my beauty bank and I have $1000 for makeup, $400 for eye shadow palettes, and $550 for skincare for my beginning of the year budget. I do not have a limit on the number of products I bring in, but the purchase amount does have to stay within budget.
Haircare is replacement only and does not come out of the budget. Perfumes and beauty tools will not come out of the budget, but I will track the purchases and cost.
Byes/Beauty Empties. I track all of my beauty empties and the past three years I have been able to use up more than $2000 (retail value) of products. I would like to reach that goal again this year.

I love the eyeshadow look in this video have to agree with your comment on one of your previous videos about everyone loving neutral eye looks on you have to agree they make your eyes stand out so much!
In terms of using up/buying I havent been having the dopamine hit after using up/buying a product. I like that I can rearrange my stuff once something is used up but it's the anticipation of using something up that I seem to get more joy out of then using up.

SheaMoisture really makes a good product. Thirsty hair is a struggle. Many prayers and thanks for your BIL and his service. OMG just mentioning Hanson has MMMBop stuck in my head now. 🤣
Whenever I use my Hourglass lipstick in If Only, that song gets stuck in my head. 😂 I listen to Hanson Snowed In every year when I put up the Christmas Tree. I do love some SheaMoisture products!!
Always love your buys and byes vidoes! My birthday is this month so I'm trying not to buy too many things this year like I did the last 2 years. But did pick up a Tarte eyeshadow palette and just ordered the Pat McGrath mini divine rose blush. I'm going to try to do a No-buy for the rest of the year, I don't need anything else, except for mascara, and just need to use up some products before I buy more.

I have the Tree Hut cream in Vanilla and it's very nice, I like the faint shimmer too. I would probably buy again but need to use up mine first. Very nice eye look and I like your hair too. Good video as always.
thank you!! I do like a lot of Tree Hut's products, but I think I will stick with the lotions from Hempz and my body oils. I didn't even notice that there was a shimmer in the body butter!!

The Golden Palette is very pretty, but I find myself wanting to pull come color in when I use the palette.

I'm excited I finish a foundation my purchase are bad
Finishing a foundation is amazing!! I felt for the first part of the year that my purchases were getting out of control...but I'm trying to bring it back in for the next few months. ❤️
I'm loving that teal liner, so beautiful. I used up another foundation. My goal is to get down to 2-3. Still have a ways to go, but getting there. I used up an brow liner. I go thru them pretty quickly, I have to build out my brow some so I use more. but that's okay. Getting through some skincare as well. And a body lotion. June was an okay month for empties. I was wondering if you see a difference by adding the serums to your tub of body cream vs not having having the serums added?

If you have to build up your brows, I don't know if the brow pencil that you can sharpen would work. I am using the Benefit one now and I feel like I only have to sharpen it like once a week! It's going to last forever!
I don't know if I see any difference adding serums to creams. I don't add anything to my body cream, but I do add some of my night time cream. The BHA body cream I use, comes with the BHA already in it.
Blushes take so long to use up!

Could you use the shadow stick as a highlighter or to mix with a cream highlighter/blush?
OMG Yes!!! When I'm done with my project pan Marc Jacobs lip stick I can dig out the remaining product and melt it together with the shadow stick! Genius!!! ❤️
What were you looking for with the shimmery shade you got from Give Me Glow? If you want more of a sparkly pink, I wonder if Halley's Comet from Terra Moons would work for you?
I'm trying to dupe the ColourPop Earthshine shade from the It's My Pleasure palette. So more of a purple base with blue/pink pin points. I've not tried Terra Moons yet, I'll have to check them out. As long as they have the smaller pans and not the huge pans that some indie brands used to do.

@@erintaylorwritesit is more of a pink than purple shade but I can layer it and get it purply for sure. Rosette from them might also be close because it is more purple
