The Bloodiest Medieval Battles You've Never Heard Of

- Опубликовано: 13 июн 2024
- Numerous battles that took place during the Middle Ages are well known. The Battle of Hastings in 1066, for example, has been studied from nearly every angle. In addition to looking at the details of the conflict itself, historians and the general public continue to assess its influence on culture and politics alike.
Many people have the same type of interest in battles fought during the Scottish Wars of Independence, those that took place during the Hundred Years' War, and all kinds of crusading efforts throughout the medieval period. Alongside the best-known battles are numerous little-known skirmishes and conflicts. No less full of carnage and heroism, these fights and their overall impact on life and death during the Middle Ages have been overlooked.

"Cnut the great", whose name must be pronounced very carefully..." That cracked me up!
I give you such praises for pronouncing all these cities and people's names effortlessly, not just in this video but in many of them.
9 pointless comments, in less than 1hr..😂 how pathetic.... hobby
No wonder he’s the voice 👍🏼☺️🎉
And that’s why he makes money from these videos
@@Dave-bj3pq You need a better hobby.
He can't pronounce them. I thought he said "Battle of Herrljunga" but it was "Battle of Helgeå". Americans are not Europeans and will never be
People talk about theses battles and knights , but forget that most of the combatants were not full time soldiers , but rather normal farmers and tradesmen forced to fight in times of war , but when these people died there was nobody to replace them and lands were affected for decades
Who knew history could be this brutal and thrilling? These battles deserve their own epic movie saga! 🍿🛡
Still nothing next to the daily battle I had, with my 9 year old every school day, getting him to find and put on his shoes.
Oh so it was bloody, deadly and violent!? Child abuse then
If you're going to joke, at least actually be funny and make sense than hyperbole to the extremes. Dumbass parent joke!
My son's shoes were usually in the car. He'd take them off as soon as I picked him up from school and then forget about them.
😂😂😂
Hilarious how you compare that situation to this video lol 😂😂😂😂😂 , you right tho cuz I’ll never have the balls to bring a human to this world to suffer
have you tried hitting him harder?
Very interesting video! I would like to know more about the 100 years war and what was going on during that time. Period. Keep up the great work and great content👍👍
Very interesting as usual :) OH a question have you even done a video about those UK pirate radios of the 60's ?
07:29. The Battle on the Ice is the climax of Russian film Alexander Nevsky, by Sergei Einsestein (1938). You can see Russia was preparing to war when the movie was edited.
Also, the soundtrack by Sergei Prokofiev became a cantata. The charge of the Teutonic Knights is thrilling - a cavalry charge in music.
(Look for the video "BBC Proms 2011 Prokofiev Alexander Nevsky." It's the best charge in music I have seen.)
Glad to see someone mention the film. I recall seeing it in my 20s. Good film.
Thanks for this! 🏰
Thanks for this video.
I love you, narrator man.
I'm so glad the original narrator is back
When are y'all going to learn he never went away?
1:36 Mouse Trap was my our favorite board game in our household when I was growing up.
9
You really played Mouse Trap? My family and everybody I knew just put the pieces together and tried to see if they could get the trap to work. It's cool you actually played the game!
@@ArcherSuh4721 Us too😀😀
"Who's name must be read very carefully" Bahaha!!
Odd and random coincidence, it almost sounded like you said "Canoe the Great" for Cnut and the painting of him looks like he's holding a small canoe in his lap
Man, that's something. Quite a list. Heard of Fontenoy because of England and France in a war in the 1740s.
Nice vids
So glad this narrator is back😊
He never left.
Cnut the Great...whose name has to be read very carefully.
🤣🤣🤣 Loved it!
Battle of Fontenoy: Biggest sibling rivalry until World War 1.
A+ video!
Fascinating topic and video, The Battle of the Ice is especially memorable!
The Battle of Manzikert was truly a cornerstone in history.
The Battle of Acre is worth mentioning.
Ahhh be still my ears! Our narrator is back!😊
I always love listening to whoever narrates these videos 😅
What about when Ash Williams went back in time to fight the deadites?
Weird history and I found that the hills have eyes and poked them out 👀👈
I've heard of and learned about a few of these battles through Age of Empires!
Nice
Im so glad that the vids only use this narrator again,im sure its alot of work, but the videos are well worth the wait.
What's wrong with any of the other narrators? I like this guy too, but the rest of them are great as well.
Give it a rest Karen.
They don't use only this narrator. You must be new here.
I have been to grunwald twice the reenactment is awesome
No comments? Lemme change that. Great Channel btw
I think history fans have probably heard of at least most of these
No drones were used in the making of this video.
Obotrites and there battles next?
Subotai was an absolute menace
First 🙌 keep up the work, do an Ireland focused video 🙌
For some good collection of relatively less known Medieval battles I strongly recommend Schwerpunkt's Battles' playlists
5:35 😂😂💀
I would like to hear about tomorrow
What about Battle of Stilo on July 13, 982 at Capo Colonna, near Crotone, Italy? My 30th-great grandfather died there.
😂
I’m so happy I live now
Vinland Saga lore!
After hearing that now I wish you had screamed medieval combat like they used to do in the old mortal Kombat commercials
Batu Khan?!?!? 😩😩😩
Does anyone notice how the narrator sounds like J Peterman from seinfeld?
Should have shown Scottie Pippen at first and then when you said sometimes show Pippin lol
7:25 Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice was the #1 hit in the UK on my 11th birthday.
It was played frequently at B.A.D. (Burwell Against Drugs) dances.
I am aware of the Battle of Manzikert
"Focus On Your Actions, Not The Outcome, It Is All You Can Control"
-Liu Kang (Mortal Kombat 1)
The ice didn't break. cmon bro

Did he just Rick Roll us in medieval fashion?
Towton
Cnut the Great….whose name has to be read very carefully 🤣🤣🤣🤣
2:36 Scooby-Doo was one of three shows I frequently watched when I was a child living on the countryside of Midvale in Nebraska.

All thing have films coming out this year, The Fall Guy films is released on May 3rd (this Friday!).

The past…..a time I don’t want to be in
0:01 That film was released the month I graduated the Master's Program at the University of Missouri.

9:53 Monopoly was inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame in 1998, the first class of inductees.
It is the best-selling modern board game.
Before changes were made to the game, it was caled The Landlord's Game (Toy Hall of Fame).
Still going 😂😂
@@Dave-bj3pq Yes, you are still running yourself down to the ground.
🏆yet?
@@Dave-bj3pq Considering how slow you are, it probably takes an entire day for you to come up with such pointless responses.
Here’s the Voice 🎉☺️👏🏼
I've heard of all of these... extensively
Loooooooooove the original narrator.
Just imagine if these medieval battles involves RAP BATTLES.
I am going to watch the videos:

1:55 Sorry the 2nd favorite board game of our household growing up.
It was one of the twelve finalists for the Toy Hall of Fame in 2020 but was not chosen for induction.
Wow # 6

6:37 Knights and Warriors was a short-lived tv series in 1992 which had a similar format to American Gladiators.
I saw that on a video from the YT channel The Review.

@@Dave-bj3pq No person on the internet is slower to accept their fate than you are.
These pointless comments are something even the slowest cannot compete with you.
Got to be up to 20 now... get a 🏆yet? 😅
@@Dave-bj3pq Your fate is sealed, you are going to have nothing and it is everything you deserve.
You're going to be a legendary disgrace.
Hungary, Bulwark of Europe
These are all pretty popular and well-known battles, so the title of the video is quite misleading... I've literally heard of and know the details of all the battles you mentioned.
OMG there’s clearly more than one narrator
Dude needs a break once in a while, just like everyone else
I'm sorry but all of these are not common era they happened hundreds of years ago so stop saying CE it's AD it just makes more sense
Eating ANOTHER Weird History meal!
Eating Totino's Pizza Rolls*†...while watching this Weird History video!
These were on a Super Bowl commercial with Pete Davidson!
* Inspired by the Weird History video "The History of the Frozen Pizza."
† I am surprised that Totino's Pizza Rolls are not more popular.

All the lame jokes ruin these videos seriously
Medieval battles had nothing on ancient battles. For instance, the battle of Cannae in 216 BCE.
Whats with the CE bull$#!+ 😠
This is not a religious comment, but if we find BC & AD so offensive then we should get rid of the Gregorian calendar 🙄🤦🏼♂️
