I've been a listener of prof's music for a long time, never been to a live show and probably won't because I don't enjoy concerts that much. I know a lot of people give him props for his live shows, but for me the thing I appreciate most is just how *listenable* his music is. It has a quality that makes it easy to listen to, enjoyable to listen to, that a lot of other rap just lacks. It's the songwriting skills for me.

Don´t get me wrong, his beats are fire. However, I´ve come to notice, that this obviously is something rare in hip-hop or rap music. Obviously outstanding enough to even make this point. Thing is, there are lots of musicians/ singers out there making their own music and it is considered rather usual. Why is this handled differently in hip-hop/ rap music? Any idea? Genuine question.

@elwray3506 Wish I knew, but I don't follow any other rappers. I tend to enjoy only true artists, i.e , singer/songwriter/musicians. Prof is all of these. His straight songs are also really, really good.

@@sidhedanu Thanks for replying. And again, I didn´t mean to take away from the artistry in hip-hop/ rap.

@@elwray3506 I didn't think that at all. And I don't mean to sound snobby about music, lol. I loved Time Bomb because I'm a Trailer Park Boys fan, and then I found more music of his and loved it, then found out that he writes most of his own music (if I recall, he used an Aesop Rock beat for one of his songs, at least) and had been making music since he was a kid, just like all my favorite artists - Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Andrew Bird, and most recently Lola Young (amazing young artist with almost 40 recorded songs, not counting what hasn't yet been released from her upcoming album).
