I’ve followed this video and redone it 5 times but nothing shows in games. no systems or anything. I’ve have 4 other handhelds from anbernic and odin and batocera, knulli. I’m completely stumped I can’t get the dumb thing to work
I just wish MinUI supported Syncthing. I know it’s kinda contrary to the whole philosophy of MinUI, but it’s just too convenient to sync saves from my PC and other handhelds. If you don’t care about Syncthing, though, I agree MinUI is the best fit for the device!
@@JTMidnightJrI’ve really been considering switching to that but I’m hoping that knulli comes out with their complete version soon. If it doesn’t by the end of the month Minui it is
For those saying "it bricked" and things of that nature with MinUI, keep in mind that it isn't just an all encompassing OS. You have to find the exact file to flash for the TrimUI Brick. I would not currently worry about the stock firmware or updating it. Doesn't make a bit of difference and from the last time it was updated, it's the same as what's currently on the device already or close enough that it isn't going to make a difference. Honestly, Joey has ya doing a lot of things that you don't need to do if you don't plan on using the rubbish stock OS and there's no need to go into Retroarch at all, honestly. Use Raspberry Pi Imager, it will format your card to exFat and flash the needed "image" (preferably MinUI) without having to install multiple applications. I've had MinUI on mine for roughly a month now without any issues installing or otherwise. Still holding out hope for MuOS or something similar. Between that for the XX series and Onion for the Miyoo, they're top tier, honestly.
Personally I would never use MinUI for any Trimui device. You end up losing one of their best features, which is the great sleep mode. It loses about 1-3 percent over a 8+ hours in sleep. Now if MinUI allowed you to disable auto power down function, it would be pretty good, minus the outdated cores/worse performance.
@@RetroGamingMonkey I just realised I said auto sleep mode. I meant auto power down. Which takes about 2 minutes I think, not much time at all to leave idle. But, yeah, I mean go with whatever you enjoy the most, but I think many people don't know about how good the sleep mode is due to everyone saying move to MinUI, and I think that would be important to note for anyone deciding on an OS.
@ninja4955 For sure. I definitely feel like that is important. I will try out MinUI for a bit and then go back to stock. Looking forward to official CrossMix 1.4.0 for the Brick.
@@JoeysRetroHandheldsso the firmware isn’t attached to the SD card? It updates that actual system firmware… is that correct? I’m sorry I’m an idiot with these things.
I am running Crossmix 1.3.9, i found online which was made specifically for the Brick and runs great but as Joey mentioned, its a hacked version and not supported by the crossmix developers.
@@portersmith5197So far running great. Have not experienced any issues as far as crashes or anything that would affect game play. Runs just as smooth as the official crossmix 1.3.0 for the TSP. Looks like someone took the 1.3.0 version and tweaked it for the Brick. No major difference. Portmaster, PSP, N64, DC, etc all run in the sameway as it does on the official version. I also was reading in the TrimUI Reddit that people have flashed the 1.3.0 version to the brick and works.
Wow you posted this video just in time, my brick came in today! :D
How is it?
@Jhennieten Been loving it. Its a perfect size as well

Mine been broke for weeks cant boot up bought the stock the crossmix tried minui nothing worked get retroid pocket 5
@ I got it working again by using a different SD card. The sandisk card would not work i found an old Kodak card and it works great
I ordered the purple one today joey
Dont mine is broke af
I found that MinUi is the best on this device because of the simplicity and the size of the device go hand in hand.

@@JTMidnightJr I agree
Gonna wait for crossmix to come out before really setting mine up, so just using minui and a few roms now.
😊 great vid, Joey!
How does this works on Mac?
Nice job with this guide.

This is a stock OS guide, not MinUI.
There is a large part of the community that prefer stock operating systems, this is to help them :)
Just set mine up. Works great. Updated firmware. Trying out MinUI...

@ninja4955 Noted. I will do some comparisons.

@@RetroGamingMonkey Shouldn't be too long now. Cizia (Crossmix Dev) said it would be done in the upcoming weeks, that was about a week and half ago.
Algorithm comment 🎉🎉 thanks for another guide Joey.
Wait, so every time you update it you have to delete everything on your card and start fresh?
No, you can use a second SD card to do it. Pop in, do update, then swap back after.
@@JoeysRetroHandheldsso the firmware isn’t attached to the SD card? It updates that actual system firmware… is that correct?

@Dluiogbre Yep! It updates the internal storage, which is where the OS lives.
Sorry for being late, Joey
A wizard is never late.
Thanks
I have the black and red. Fantastic hardware, but I’m turned off by the Os options atm
this one gets a prewatch like
please make tutorial installation and used apollo/artemis
Mine bricked on minui so I had to flash a recovery image.
Overall not very impressed with the handheld.. Miyoo Mini still wins over imo
Mine did too. It wouldn't even turn on. I had to flash KNULLI to then flash the firmware revocery, then the update, to use it.
Did you plan to do a review of the Trimui Brick?
I do. It hasn't grabbed me, and I received it late, but I'll get there. Possibly next week.
@JoeysRetroHandhelds Fair, thanks for answering.
Wait...i thought crossmix was already available for the brick?
It's a hacked together disaster not by the original author. Waiting for official.
Oh! That i didn't know. Thanks Joey!
