That monaco team in 2017 was breath taking: Mbappe, falcao, Fabinho, silva, Moutinho, Lemar, mendy. Got completely dismantled after the season similar to Ajax 2019.
Also Subasic, Glik, Raggi, Sidibé, Bakayoko...
@@luffy_armyblack who?
Tielemans too
@@mrmeeseeks2534 No, Tielemans at Monaco is just after the 2017 title
it really hurt the fact Bakayoko scored that goal that knocked us out and then disappeared into obscurity where he was no where to be seen
Now that Man City won I can finally watch all this back.
hahahaha same I used to hate watching these back cause it just caused me pain and made me mad
still hurts tho
@@VincenT003 100% but its at least more watchable
I can now watch it for the first time
Your right. I can watch these now in peace
As a city fan I can easily say 18/19 was the worst year heartbreak wise
Agree, VAR save Spurs that day. Clearly City the better team.
@@edwinrubio8537 city are the better team except ederson that season
@@edwinrubio8537 clearly. They have been the better team for 10 years. In fact this decade they have been the best team in england
One of them not the most.
For me it was against Lyon 2020 and also 2022 against madrid away
definitely, 2021 final and 2022 madrid away as well
Crazy to see how much influence shitty refereeing decisions had in all this lmao
Especially Mateo Lahoz knocked us out 3 times more than any other opponent including The Mighty Real Madrid & Barcelona. Lahoz 2017 vs Monaco,2018 vs Liverpool & 2021 vs Chelsea
@@mancuniansplanet6580ya I'm happy that guy is retired now wat a shitty refree that guy was
Lahoz was a POS refeering, than god he's was obligated to retired, he will not be missed at all.
But yeah in the 2do led against Liverpool you can see that he was specially againts Guardiola, was a personal thing.
2do leg against Spurs was the wrong desicion against Llorente, and good against City. Such incosistency with VAR still exist till this day, but back then was clearly against City.
@@edwinrubio8537 Completely agree that Lahoz is a shitty ref, but pure bullshit to say that his decisions in the Liverpool 2nd leg were purely against City. Yes the offside on Sane was the wrong decision, but the first Jesus goal shouldn't have counted because there was a blatant foul on Van Dijk from Sterling before the goal which wasn't given.
@@edwinrubio8537 u lost 5-1
This really was a 10 year struggle. I think i took the UCL final against Chelsea the hardest because we were right there and it didn’t go city’s way. Then the Real Madrid collapse was even worse. I remember going home from work with tears of anger in my eyes because it’s like how did this happen. But This summer we atoned and it felt like all those years of fighting and losing was lifted
Congratulations man
now you can come home from work and sing to everyone that you're the treble champion 😍😍😍
I was so mad at the chelsea game but knew pep was at fault for his formation and that chelsea were a formidable side. But the madrid game I didn’t believe what I was seeing after rodrigo scored that second goal I I thought I was dreaming man. We really deserved this beautiful ending . 4-0 vs madrid at the Etihad is the best revenge .
@@omariblake21 Yeah they got owned, like really it could've been 7-0. City got their revenge and proved they were the better team, although we all know they were wayyy better last year
@@omariblake21City is what PSG wanted to become like but couldn't
Congratulations. The team kept improving every year and with the masterclass Pep they should continue to dominate europe.
The big difference this season was Ederson made few mistakes and a number of big saves. The defence was stellar but where they failed, Ederson saved the day. This was unlike previous seasons where he didnt make any big saves.
Exactly. As a Chelsea fan, if there's anything I've learned about the UCL, it's the fact that you must strive to be perfect. If you make many mistakes and miss chances, you won't get away with it like in league games - you'll get punished.
Guardiola replaced most players prone to these mistakes, like Sterling, Aguero, Fernandinho, Yaya, Hart, Kompany, and Jesus.
Ederson is the most overrated keeper
I think he’s motivated more because of Ortega
Yeah... I observed that same... Ederson's mistake corrected in this season... A reason for winning
In the match against barca in 2013 /2014 man city defense was absolutely dreadful
The handball Tottenham goal was a VAR travesty, but that lethargic loss against Lyon was really disappointing.
The ball hits the thigh, not the hand
@@user-kr3lb5zd3m you didn't see all the footage. The camera from behind the goal made it very clear it was a handball. The ref never saw it. Even in this video you can see the muscles of the arm move. It was unfortunate for City, but don't try to change the fact.
@@jjryan1352 you didn't see everything. The camera from behind the goal made it very clear the ball hit the thigh, not the hand, don't try change fact

Nowdays but less than that they gave away penaltys, so not argument in that.
City won their first ever Champions League at the same time when Matheo Lahoz retired from refereeing, he was the curse the entire time 😂

It's crazy because all the ones I'd been to live and in person (Bayern 2014, Monaco, Spurs and Madrid last year, all at the Etihad) were some of the most spectacular UCL matches ever. Too bad they didn't go in our favour, I can't tell you how relieved I was when that final whistle blew in Istanbul, 13 years of build up for me.
12/13 was a nightmare, group of death completely overwhelmed them. 14/15 was a roller coaster coming back to secure a last 16 place only to get murked. 18/19 still haunts me to this day as well. so happy they conquered their demons and finally got it done 🏆
that 18/19 seems like it won't heal until we win 6-0 at the hotspur stadium
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I hope we meet spurs again and beat them 10 -0. Like we got our revenge in Madrid . And how did we go out to Lyon after beating Real Madrid home and away still haunts me man.
@@omariblake21 same lmaoooo

Bruh, that Spurs game was a heart break. I was sitting on my sofa then jumped like crazy when Aguero scored . Then it got called offside . We could have definitely beaten Liverpool in the Final if we had gone through.
I’m so happy it took us long enough because of the incredible journey it took playing some of the best names in Europe, now we can stand tall with a UCL trophy alongside a treble, I love this football club forever

Wow watching this back everyone can see the robberies we’ve had in Europe, messi gets a pen when its a free kick, goal gets disallowed vs liverpool for a offside when it came of a liverpool player and against Tottenham when llorentte scorer a goal with his hand and the last minute winner against them and it was disallowed for no reason
That last minute Sterling winner vs Tottenham in 2019 was offside though, that's why it got disallowed.
There's nothing cursed about this. Some bad referee mistakes yes, but most of the time it was just City bottling it (that Sterling miss in particular was horrible)
Rodrigo goal in the last minute almost made me faint . I was in disbelief as to what just happened

Thank goodness Mateo Lahoz is retired from football, that Referee has single handedly knocked out Manchester City out of the Champions League more than any other team or any other opponent in the last 10 years,in 2017 vs Monaco,in 2018 vs Liverpool rules out Leroy Sane goal for offside yet it was Milner Liverpool player who passed the ball back Sane & sent off Pep at half time for asking him for an explanation for disallowing the goal,in 2021 vs Chelsea in the final Robs City of an obvious Reece James handball & allows Rudiger to blatantly elbow Debruyne & take him out of the game. In 2023 Uefa kept him away from Manchester City matches & we end up winning the Champions league
Amen for that, Lahoz POS not refeering anymore.
But yeah, generally UEFA dislike City a lot, so normally desicion come againts them all the time.
This year were that good, that even with bad refeering they still got it at the end.
Also believe that Rudiger should be sent off, it does that intencionally, some players get send off with less than that.
Finally, After so much heartbreak and despair the moment of ecstasy, the moment all the city fans have been waiting.. Proud to be a fan of this amazing football club. What a team, what a coach.💙💙
Well deserved
Many people say manchester city doesn't have the mentality in the champions league but they prove it by consistently giving their best and it pays off ❤
Against Liverpool Matheo Lahoz was shit, awful desicions againt them, if the 2do goal was given it would be a different match.
Spurs game was bad refeering as well, thst Llorente goal clearly was a hand involved and with VAR still was given. At the end of the game the due find the way to invalited the last minute goal, back then was not very common that they invalited goal for possible offside.
bruh Gabriel Jesus goal happened because Sterling fouled Virgil van Dijk. the replay didn't show you that.
Don't worry guys these were typical city moments. Now that we have our first we will just continue to dominate and defend our title.
how do we tell him
This video shows that man city outplayed most of their opponents and should have advanced further in UCL just based on their play however they have gotten really unlucky with many of their shots (foden hitting post, sterling missing a tap in, etc) as well as close calls like the spurs handball
Ucl really haunted us and yes when Kevin got injured that too very early plus inter's great reply to every move we got really got me so down again but when rodri scored I knew this year was gonna be different and when that whistle blew damn that was the most happiest time to be a cityzen
Thank you city what a season you gave us the 22/23 season 😍
How in the hell did that Llorente goal for Spurs count?? That's mad that such an obvious hand ball, with the ball hitting his hand first and changing the course of the ball did they still count that as a goal still surprises me to this day
All these years of heart break. All these years of upset. We have done it now 💙

Definitely they will become a favourites again.
Still can’t get over last years loss. How tf did Benzema keep that ball in and set up Rodrygo. Absolute pure class 😍😭
Love the content and the format. Much needed story telling of football history without the nonsense and the extra noise. Instantly subscribed
Man City would of won most of those games if they had a number 9, yes they had Aguero for a while but he was prone to injury. Jesus is not a pure number 9, this is how they won the UCL with Haaland
no goals were never their issue, they scored tons of goals in all those matches, it was the nerves in defense which made them lose, haaland did nothing in semis and final this season yet they won because their defense somehow held it barely, next season they will be more confident after winning it once.
Are you forgetting that Aguero played against spurs
Really well made video thank you
I think it's not about curse. This season City loves to defend and that kind of football playstyle needed in champions league match
Pep understands it better now...... more to come !! 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Sure, but getting rid of _deadbeat_ players like Yaya, Aguero, Fernandinho, Kompany, Sterling, Cancelo, and co worked wonders too.
Exactly. You see in the UCL final we were rock solid in defence!
i like the way of this channel dealing with videos iam wating to see more of its creative videos
Great video 👌
I am not lying this years champions league campaign before every match I used to watch the past heartbreaks to be ready to if the outcome became another Heartbreak but this year became special one.
I cried after the spurs game
Keeping doing what you doing. It will pay off sooner than you expect.
This recap makes me appreciate this year more
A sign of consistent growth and success in the making is learning from your failures.
The Lyon and Napoli loses hit hard for me. Because on paper we were easily the favorites. But those teams were offensive juggernauts. By the time of the choke against real madrid I was already used to losing in ridiculous ways, so I wasn't pained much by it compared to the others where I cried. This is the first time I have watched any of our loses from Champions league knockout round.
They come very long way to win UCL and people often deny their hardwork grit passion determination and perseverance only say oil money brought the success in fact City didn't brought the success they earned the success failure and failure in Europe makes them very strong and I believe city will be new powerhouse of Europe after Real Madrid Liverpool
This brought back so many painful memories 😭
I forever love City..that Tottenham game, I literally cried.
Yh them going through to the final was disappointing. City would have been the better opponent for Liverpool
bernardo silva going crazy when beats mancity as he is in monaco squad. yet he celebrate with mancity as one of the key players then, from goal scoring till lifting the trophy. its just unique.
Legends say lukaku saw this heartbreak video last year and decided he is going to change mancs destiny
That Tottenham game was a joke still, I will never forget how they got away with that. Thank god they lost in the final.

Yes why not ? But money doesn’t make you win. The UCL is a different type of competition
@omariblake21 "Money doesn't make you win" Is only said by City fans 💀
I also think it's a lesson in endurance and never relenting.
I'd rather see it as Man City tinkering and taking incremental steps towards their dream regardless of how many heartbreaks they got.
Pep Guardiola, Lady Luck and a few others were the missing pieces, and eventually with persistence it paid off and came even better with a treble.
Ironically, the UCL final they won was one they would have deservedly lost if they had lost.
This sums up trying again and again, and failing better.
Big respect for all legends like Aguero, Silva, Kompany, Fernandinho

Looked so strange when Bernardo used to play for Monaco and celebrated a goal against City.
The journey is not easy for us but it end with honorable way, treble for us. Owner , manager and player deserved the hardwork award.
For someone that lost the UCL final the year prior, Madrid away 2022 hurt me the most.
The match against Monaco was the basis for the purchase of Bernardo Silva. And now he is part of Man. City won the Champions League in the end
