I got my Mega-Drive back in 1992. And it became my favorite console of all time! What a console it was!!! I owned every single game on this list. My favorites were Streets of Rage 2, Sonic 2, Vectorman, Earth Worm jim, Mortal Kombat 1 and Ultimate, FIFA 94 and FIFA International Soccer, Golden Axe, Street Fighter Champ. edition, Aladdin, The Lion King, Samurai Shodown and Decap Attack. Man, I miss the 90s right now! I wish I had a time machine...
This WhatCulture list couldn't get much more closer to perfect imo This would be my top 10 roughly (I never owned or played classics like Castlevania: Bloodlines, Aladdin, Gunstar Heroes, Contra: Hard Cops, Earthworm Jim, Michael Jacksons Moonwalker etc so I have much of an opinion on them although they do look good. I hate 'Beat em ups' like Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat. And I hate RPG's where you spend more time reading conversations on screen than anything else) 1 - Kid Chameleon 2 - Streets of Rage 2 3 - Sonic 3 and Knuckles 4 - Ecco The Dolphin 2: The Tides of Time, 5 - Quackshot, 6 - Desert Strike 7 - Home Alone 8 - Global Gladiators 9 - Road Rash 2 10 - James Bond 007: The Duel Special mentions to: Castle of Illusion, Dynamite Headdy, Comix Zone, Chuck Rock, General Chaos, Golden Axe, James Pond 2: Codename Robocod, Maui Mallard, Taz-Mania, Boogerman, Revenge of Shinobi, Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade...
It was one of the games I borrowed regularly from 1 of my 14 cousins. Luckily she only lived 3 doors away. I had approximately 36 games, and she had around the same. I was still occasionally playing on my Mega Drive when the Playstation, Xbox and Xbox 360 had come out, until one day when 1 of my 4 closest friends (who was a bit of a narcissist like Jay from the Inbetweeners) got kicked out by his mum, and then his grandparents for being a dickhead as usual. He went to stay at a local hostel for young people so I let him borrow my Mega Drive & games, my old phone and my nephews hi-fi so he had something to do. He ended up selling them for weed and claimed they had been stolen, so obviously he is no longer my mate.
Golden axe, Sonic, Aladdin, Streets of RAGE,Mortal Kombat, Echo the dolphin, and Altered Beast were some of my favorite games growing up, I remember studying punch combos just to be able to hold my own against my big brother playing mortal kombat God those were the days!
+ShowToddSomeLove Comix Zone is one of the most overrated games ever. It would be good, if it wasn't impossibly difficult. It just isn't a fair challenge like many better, but also extremely difficult games.

You are full of shit, and Comix Zone is too.
+A Gamer Aaron As far as speedrunners, you are talking about like .01% of all gamers. And TAS runs are for pussies who like to pretend they are pros. Not not being able to do a regular, non-TAS speedrun doesn't equate to sucking at a game. As far as you, you are just full of shit.

It's funny, even though the SNES technically had better graphics, I always though MD games looked better. Bolder and sharper, SNES games looked kinda muted and fuzzy to me. Plus the SNES ran at a lower res I believe.

But the two I really really believe should have been on the video are Revenge of Shinobi and Phantasy Star 3. Yes, you read that right: the third one. Phantasy Star 3 was amazing. The very first Fina Fantasy style RPG I ever played. Didnt understand it worth a DAMN when I was little. But looking back how the game allowed you to alter the path of the game and who took power in the following generations is incredible. The music. The redhead robot girl I had a crush on. The black haired robot guy you can ride!!.....ehem....He turns into boats and stuff...
super Sf2 and the sf 2 champion edition were 2 different games, the snes version of the champion edition was sf2 turbo. as a gaming channel you guys should know that.
Joe's words: "Super Street Fighter 2: Championship Edition" Caption: "Street Fighter 2: Champion Edition" Box Cover: "Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition" Did they just screw the script up or is this Joe's error?
I remember it as Championship Edition, perhaps it varies with the region? Pretty sure about the title because I was just learning english and found the word Championship confusing
it's probably the script because he refers to "the original" and shows the Super Street Fighter cart, a later game. Street Fighter 2 CE was the first Genesis SF... All around wrong, but CE was probably a better game.
MinusLife this is actually quite better, having a comment section focusing about the video is far better than a video with a comment section full of people making unrelated wrestling jokes, complain about wwe and who is the narrator
Definitely. I've enjoyed quite a few vids and hearing their outputs on games like No Man's Sky and the lists. Far better than everyone arguing for 200 comments on who was first and why Adam isn't commentating or if it's John O' Clock or not
when i put my hands on Sonic 2 for the first time early 93 i think. "Oh my God, this is the most beautyfull thing i ever see in my life." So, i agree...This is the best Genesis game of all time.
I always got stuck on PSII before getting very far. Also the poor graphics and sound kind of put me off. III was actually my introduction to the series and that's great in its own way too. But IV blows them both away.
Close, but not quite. I think Aladdin, Shining Force 2, Phantasy Star 4, Streets of Rage 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Beyond Oasis, Gunstar Heroes, Castlevania Bloodlines, Earthworm Jim 2, and Mega Turrican are the ten best.
No Story of Thor ? No Landstalker ? They were such wonderful Adventure Games with a golden heart of Zelda in it and an amazing Story withing a very long gameplay. Upgrading your gear, unlock new abilities , doing dungeons solving puzzles defeating bosses, such wow in these game and no mention here :(
Story of Thor is Legend of Oasis in NA right? I played that when I was young (it was my brothers copy my first consoles were the N64 and PS1). but it was great along with Phantasy star and shining series.
Story of Thor 2 on Saturn was a gorgeous looking game, and with a cheat it was 2-player. Played that one a hell of a lot more than I ever played the first.
Haha wow, Im actually really pleased about this list. I owned and finished EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE! I would have placed Sonic 3 & Knuckles top and Gunstar at Number 2 as well. Well played WhatCulture, well played!
Man I was so excited to play Alex Kidd when my dad bought me a Master System. Had been playing it on a friend's console. Was soo disappointed to get Sonic
Anyone hear about the game called Skitchin'? It's pretty much Road Rash, but you're roller blading, beating up your competition, picking up weapons from the ground, and skitching behind cars. It's fantastic!
Instant like for remembering World of Illusion :D It's an easy game, but the graphics are nothing short of amazing and it's so much fun! But you messed up real time with Street Fighter :P There's either a Super SFII, or a SF II Champion Edition. Which one is it? ^^ Either way, a lot of the games on this list are on my collection and I've played almost all of the rest as well, so... yeah, happy times :D
It's like you went to my place and used my collection! I'm so glad I own all of these games, 58 Megadrive games in total and i've even managed to get a Menacer gun in working condition! (The receiver doesn't work on any of my flatscreens sadly, need to get an old tv for that). Still my alltime favourite console, with the Dreamcast in 2nd place. Especially the Disney games, like you mentioned, are top quality! If you happen to find a working Megadrive/Genesis in a thrift store or on a flea market for a nice price don't think twice and just buy it, especially if there are some good games with it!
Genesis and Snes are still great today. My nieces and nephews and my own kids love the games on that system. 80yr olds will play columns vs 8 yr olds. My six yr old has a tablet and a megadrive, tbh he uses the tablet to run emulators of classic games. In a short time there will be no physical consoles, dvds etc. The value of the classic stuff will skyrocket
Theres just too many great ganes on the genesis to have a top 10 that people will agree. No MUSHA, rocket knight, Landstalker, Phantasy star, shining, Oasis, and so on.
Nice work mate, your top 10 is spot on, I like what you said about Sonic, it's a game that we need to replay as adults. After 30 years, I still do and will probably never stop.
yeah, not only that, I can't remember Bloodlines ever getting an official release outside of the original Genesis/Mega Drive? Never was on Virtual Console or on a collection disk or a PSP or GBA or DS remake. Unless you are playing hacked ROM's through emulators, it is sort of the CV game time forgot, it was awesome
yeah Genesis had some good RPG's, shooters, and for their time, the best sports games around. Man how I miss the days of SNES, Genesis, and even the forgotten Turbografx-16
My favorite Sega Genesis/Mega Drive games are: 1. Sonic 3. 2. Sonic 3 & Knuckles. 3. Streets of Rage 2. 4. Columns. 5. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. And 6. Ms. Pac-Man (Tengen version).
Yup, I think I agree with this list. I LOVE the Sega Mega Drive! I loved it when I was 8 years old and got it for Christmas (I can still remember the joy of opening it and playing Sonic 1 for the first time!). I also played it for many years after and was hooked right through my teens too. I'm 32 now and I STILL love the Sega Mega Drive! This was such a great console and so many great games - hours of fun and so many happy memories. The nostalgia is strongest with this console me thinks. I love the sound it has and it's just so nostalgic (probably because it was my first computer and started a life long love of computers and gaming). Those were happy days! :-)
I was wondering what he meant there, actually. Was he implying that there was a straight port of Street Fighter II on Mega Drive, prior to Special Champion Edition? Because unless I'm sorely mistaken, SCE was the first SF game on MD.
Good video, happy I say I owned three of the ten you listed: Sonic 2 (and 3 as well), Aladdin, and World of Illusion. Good times. I still have Sonics 2 and 3 on my Xbox, I think I'll have to take a trip down memory lane after watching this video.
I was born in 87(like that matters) . I LOVED Sonic 2 and Streets of Rage 2. Me and my brother had some damn good times playing those titles. And we still play them today believe it or not!
Street Fighter 2 Special Champion Edition was a great title. No Doubt! However Super Street Fighter 2 for the Genesis was verrrrry good and in every way better than Champion edition! Sure the SNES had better sound and graphics, but the Sega version is top a top notch port that replicated the arcade gaming experience to a "T" .
ssf2 has an awful color pallete, music not as well arranged than ssf2ce, broken voices due to capcom shitty sound driver. the rom has over 4Mb of sound samples just for the final "ahhhhg" voices, what a waste of space!! capcom didnt improve anything over the sf2ce.
2006chame The color palette is way better! The music is more hyped up and there are more voices recorded with the same quality as CE. Finally, the game play and animation is identical to the arcade. SuperSF is hands down the best SF game for the Genesis. CE is good Super is better and that is a fact.
I never played the genesis versions of street fighter but I have played and own both street fighter 2 turbo and super street fighter on the snes. Years ago I traded in my super street fighter because street fighter turbo was superior. To this day I still have my snes copy of turbo.
Thank you for putting Ecco the tides of the time on here! That and the first Ecco the dolphin would be my number 1 pick. One of the most beautiful, unique, and artistic games ever. I would also put Shining Force 2 on this list.
Great list, and I absolutely agree about Sonic 2! But I'd add: General Chaos, Pigskin Footbrawl, WWF Royal Rumble, Gain Ground, Golden Axe, and Rocket Knight!
Thanks for the video. Found my old Mega Drive in the loft yesterday and rigged it up. Loving the games you mentioned. I would also add, Cool Spot and Lemmings to the awesome list!
Great list, I like how he didn't go with the usual titles (MK II, Shinobi II and III, Golden Axe etc.) that appear in almost every other "best of genesis videos" from other channels.
A very good analysis of the Sega Megadrive/Genesis games. First vid of yours that I have ever watched so didn’t know what to expect but by the time you got to Streets of Rage 2 I knew that you knew your mustard (even though my top ten list would be very different, but that’s just down to taste, you justified your choices well)👍 My only question is why as a Brit did you refer to the console as the Genesis first and Megadrive second? Genuinely just curious?
I believe in Joe Hendry
Nobody mentioned Jungle Strike, that game was awesome.
Jungle Strike kicked ass. I didn't like the Hovercraft though.
Desert Strike kicked Jungle Strikes arse!
anyone played or liked also urban strike?
mind70188 I did!
Desert Strike was great but Jungle strike was much longer with more varied content.
Finally someone else who appreciates Earthworm Jim. To this day I go back to it. Bless you Joe, bless you.
Played Sonic the Hedgehog so many times as a Child. I used to Love how fast it is! Thanks for bringing me back to my childhood!
Holy shit top man for having Gunstar Heroes on this list... what a game!!
you aint lying....that game was in it's own category......god. I'm actually about to go play it RIGHT NOW lol
I want to as well it's always suck that played by myself
I'm so glad he had Gunstar Heroes on the list too. It's my favorite Genesis/Mega Drive game by far.
I'm going to play it when I get home tonight after seeing this video
+R Moocher2. Contra Hard Corps was dope too
No Vectorman? That was awesome! The Toy Story MegaDrive game was awesome too!
I love that Road Rash made this list. That game was one of my favorite PlayStation games as well. Great Video!
Amazed there's never been a current gen remake
....I loved Streets Of Rage for the Sega Genesis!
If you love that and two watch a movie called escape from New York and that's what it is based on the bridge level and other bits.
Alien Soldier was pretty cool too. Made by Treasure, the same people behind Gunstar Heroes!
No Golden Axe? No Shinobi? No Mortal Kombat?
Shame!... Shame!... Shame!... Shame!... Shame!... Shame!... Shame!...

Golden Axe is not good enough for the top ten dude. Maybe a top 40.
Vector-man
For me, my favourite sega game is Ristar. It was my childhood, took me few years to finally beat the game.
UarchT me too
Me too

that version was called Street Fighter 2 Special Champion Edition
I remember it as Championship Edition, perhaps it varies with the region? Pretty sure about the title because I was just learning english and found the word Championship confusing
Lucas Williams actually it's Hyper Street Fighter 2 Super Special Champion's Championship Edition, Turbo 😂
it's probably the script because he refers to "the original" and shows the Super Street Fighter cart, a later game. Street Fighter 2 CE was the first Genesis SF... All around wrong, but CE was probably a better game.
ronindebeatrice I think you're correct.
I still have my old sega mega drive up in the loft. I loved playing as the roller blade guy in streets of rage and loved playing pitfall.
Pitfall was underrated . Great game
The Local Hero on the gaming channel?!?!?! My prayers have been answered. :)
MinusLife and the funny thing is lots of people don't know him since this channel is pretty different from the wrestling and the mma one
That's correct. It's a shame indeed, but Joe Hendry is a really likeable guy and is challenging Adam as top list giver lol
Far better than everyone arguing for 200 comments on who was first and why Adam isn't commentating or if it's John O' Clock or not
Road Rash! Wow, I spent many, many hours on this as a kid. Amazing game
What about Rocket Knight! That game was fucking intense!
It is a fun game i agree
I forgot about Rocket Knight!! Such a great game.
Tyler Alto rocket night man I loved that gamd
when i put my hands on Sonic 2 for the first time early 93 i think. "Oh my God, this is the most beautyfull thing i ever see in my life." So, i agree...This is the best Genesis game of all time.
By the way. All the people forgot Toe Jam & Earl? For the love of god. That game was simply awesome.
Sonic 2 is the greatest game of all time
Toejam & Earl
Toejam & Earl: Panic on Funkotron
Greatest games ever made.
I also loved Quackshot, Flashback, Fantastic dizzy, Micro machines, James pond ☺
what about altered beast?!
It was originally released on the Sega Master System. I wouldn't call it a Genesis game for that reason.
Joe Eggy That game was booty
POWER UP! *shirt rip*
Altered Beast should be in the top 10 worst titles. That game sucks ass, awful gameplay and graphics.
@Marreta Probably just mad you don't have 12 pack abs and can turn into a werewolf or dragon.
I would add Atomic Runner to the list, just cuz that game was simply awesome. Great list overall
phantasy star 4
one of the best rpgs ever made, truly, that and II.
I always got stuck on PSII before getting very far. Also the poor graphics and sound kind of put me off. III was actually my introduction to the series and that's great in its own way too. But IV blows them both away.
word.
God that was hard but I couldn't put it down...
This is the BEST list video uploaded, all my childhood right there
Close, but not quite. I think Aladdin, Shining Force 2, Phantasy Star 4, Streets of Rage 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Beyond Oasis, Gunstar Heroes, Castlevania Bloodlines, Earthworm Jim 2, and Mega Turrican are the ten best.
This WhatCulture list couldn't get much more closer to perfect imo
This would be my top 10 roughly
(I never owned or played
classics like Castlevania: Bloodlines, Aladdin, Gunstar Heroes, Contra:
Hard Cops, Earthworm Jim, Michael Jacksons Moonwalker etc so I have much
of an opinion on them although they do look good. I hate 'Beat em ups'
like Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat. And I hate RPG's where you spend more
time reading conversations on screen than anything else)
1 - Kid Chameleon
2 - Streets of Rage 2
3 - Sonic 3 and Knuckles
4 - Ecco The Dolphin 2: The Tides of Time,
5 - Quackshot,
6 - Desert Strike
7 - Home Alone
8 - Global Gladiators
9 - Road Rash 2
10 - James Bond 007: The Duel
Special mentions to: Castle of Illusion, Dynamite Headdy, Comix
Zone, Chuck Rock, General Chaos, Golden Axe, James Pond 2: Codename
Robocod, Maui Mallard, Taz-Mania, Boogerman, Revenge of Shinobi, Indiana
Jones and The Last Crusade...
I literally still have most of those games... Hell I have played all of them... Great work on this list Whatculture! Wow!
No Story of Thor ? No Landstalker ? They were such wonderful Adventure Games with a golden heart of Zelda in it and an amazing Story withing a very long gameplay. Upgrading your gear, unlock new abilities , doing dungeons solving puzzles defeating bosses, such wow in these game and no mention here :(
This need at least Top 20
Story of Thor is Legend of Oasis in NA right? I played that when I was young (it was my brothers copy my first consoles were the N64 and PS1). but it was great along with Phantasy star and shining series.
+Wade Schipprack yes you're right! l just googled it , it really has this name too, I used to play it when I was young ^^
Story of Thor 2 on Saturn was a gorgeous looking game, and with a cheat it was 2-player. Played that one a hell of a lot more than I ever played the first.
Solid list man! Nice enthusiastic and genuine delivery.
also, the x-men game and skitchin was fun
Matthew Miller skitchin was awesome
Loved me a Misty 540 tail grab!
Haha wow, Im actually really pleased about this list. I owned and finished EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE!
I would have placed Sonic 3 & Knuckles top and Gunstar at Number 2 as well.
Well played WhatCulture, well played!
Does anyone remember the Sega Master system 2?? That was a awesome console and it came with Sonic built in!!! :D
Yes but the first one is a better console today for retrogaming.
No fair, you got Sonic built in? Mine had Alex Kidd in Miracle World. I'm guessing yours was a later addition.
Ha, yeah, I had the Alex Kidd one too. I'm 95% sure that was actually before Sonic had been released, though.
Man I was so excited to play Alex Kidd when my dad bought me a Master System. Had been playing it on a friend's console. Was soo disappointed to get Sonic
Did this guy really just call Street Fighter 2 a "beat 'em up" right before discussing Streets of Rage? lol
toe jam and Earl, vectorman, altered beast, that Spider-Man game where carnage is impossible to kill. just some honorable mentions
I seriously thought I was the ONLY person that has heard of and played Vectorman. That game is SO underrated.
Vectorman is just pure fun and looks beautiful
Anyone hear about the game called Skitchin'? It's pretty much Road Rash, but you're roller blading, beating up your competition, picking up weapons from the ground, and skitching behind cars. It's fantastic!
Kid Chameleon in my opinion is the best Mega Drive Game
These videos are why I believe in Joe Hendry.
He’s gone from a bit of fun on RUclips to an NXT sensation. Good for you Joe, good for you
Instant like for remembering World of Illusion :D It's an easy game, but the graphics are nothing short of amazing and it's so much fun!
But you messed up real time with Street Fighter :P There's either a Super SFII, or a SF II Champion Edition. Which one is it? ^^
Either way, a lot of the games on this list are on my collection and I've played almost all of the rest as well, so... yeah, happy times :D
I think he meant just Champion Edition (without the 'Super')
It's like you went to my place and used my collection! I'm so glad I own all of these games, 58 Megadrive games in total and i've even managed to get a Menacer gun in working condition! (The receiver doesn't work on any of my flatscreens sadly, need to get an old tv for that).
Still my alltime favourite console, with the Dreamcast in 2nd place. Especially the Disney games, like you mentioned, are top quality! If you happen to find a working Megadrive/Genesis in a thrift store or on a flea market for a nice price don't think twice and just buy it, especially if there are some good games with it!
If he hosts every show ill be here every day
I was gonna complain about the absence of Golden Axe and Shinobi 3, but then I remembered Joe Hendry could kick my ass with his beard alone.
I agree, Gerard Butler
I got every single one of those games in my childhood except gunstar heroes. What a great childhood I had. :)
i like of Sonic 3 is the best.
Tyaguinho Silva Sonic and Nuckles was the best
...I swear, I want to buy you a pint, because you are the funnest WhatCulture guy I've ever seen.
I'll have to try Airthworm Jim. If it's anything like Earthworm Jim, then it should be fun.
best comment, hands down
Genesis and Snes are still great today.
Where's NBA Jam, loved that game. BOOMSHAKALAKA!!!
Oh yeah no doubt
He heating up he on fire.
You forgot The Lion King, but at least you didn't forget Sonic the Hedgehog
shining force, gain ground, out run
Thank you for saying Gain Ground. Nobody ever talks about that game and I loved it.
There was a lack of story of Thor: beyond oasis but all in all I'm on board. Top stuff
That was really THE GAME!!!
wel mr Hendry i gotta say this is the first game list where I've agreed 99%. Well played sir. if only it was a top 11 and featured alex the kid
Theres just too many great ganes on the genesis to have a top 10 that people will agree. No MUSHA, rocket knight, Landstalker, Phantasy star, shining, Oasis, and so on.
This WhatCulture list couldn't get much more closer to perfect imo
This would be my top 10 roughly
(I never owned or played

Really good list. You know your stuff.
VECTOR MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice work mate, your top 10 is spot on, I like what you said about Sonic, it's a game that we need to replay as adults. After 30 years, I still do and will probably never stop.
good list and I even agree with the #1 game, but no Castlevania Bloodlines in the top 10???
I noticed that too.
yeah, not only that, I can't remember Bloodlines ever getting an official release outside of the original Genesis/Mega Drive? Never was on Virtual Console or on a collection disk or a PSP or GBA or DS remake. Unless you are playing hacked ROM's through emulators, it is sort of the CV game time forgot, it was awesome
hepwo91222 Indeed, it was awesome. In fact it was one of the best, the classic Castlevania series had to offer.
IMO they missed a couple of obvious games like the Shining series or Landstalker or Oasis. This list was very action genre heavy.
yeah Genesis had some good RPG's, shooters, and for their time, the best sports games around. Man how I miss the days of SNES, Genesis, and even the forgotten Turbografx-16
I feel like "Spider man and Venom Maximum Carnage" should of been on the list
it was just called Spiderman Maximum Carnage. The sequel was called Separation Anxiety
he is like the Gerard Butler of gaming
"Chances are, if you grew up in the 90's, you'll find my king-sized-V-cut shirt cringey"
nope, hes the Gerard Butler of wrestling!
"There was a time when graphics weren't everything"...🤦🏿♂️ Dude the graphics were a huge part of why people wanted the genesis.
revenge of shinobi must be in the list
Agreed. Sonic 2 was the best of the 16-bit era.
My favorite Sega Genesis/Mega Drive games are:
1. Sonic 3.
Wow, you guys literally know nothing about Street Fighter.
lol didn't he call it a beat'em up?
It was most likely a mistake.
I was honestly more referring to the fact that they thought Super SF2 came before Championship Edition...and that it was "the original game".
Professor Icepick Oh okay I didn't pick up on that I was focused on the fact he called it a beat'em up, My apologies.
I was wondering what he meant there, actually. Was he implying that there was a straight port of Street Fighter II on Mega Drive, prior to Special Champion Edition? Because unless I'm sorely mistaken, SCE was the first SF game on MD.
FINALLY. Some RUclips recognition for Aladdin which was a brilliant game. Ahead of its time. Nice one WC.
Joe Hendry makes things better for What Culture Gaming
JOE HENDRY
I enjoy the passion in your intro.
I'm a simple man I see Joe Hendry I like
Cause Joe Hendry makes things better
Good video, happy I say I owned three of the ten you listed: Sonic 2 (and 3 as well), Aladdin, and World of Illusion. Good times. I still have Sonics 2 and 3 on my Xbox, I think I'll have to take a trip down memory lane after watching this video.
Why doesn't anyone ever give a shit about Shining Force, that was like the first story game I ever played
I was born in 87(like that matters) . I LOVED Sonic 2 and Streets of Rage 2. Me and my brother had some damn good times playing those titles. And we still play them today believe it or not!
nnnahhhhhh.....
too much missing here :/
phantasy star? no? yeah? yeah
Yeah, no Shining Force games either, but I mean all of the games he listed are pretty damn good so I can't blame them too much.
Minha lista seria:
1 - Sonic 3 & Knuckles
2 - X- Men 2: Clone Wars
3 - Street Of Rage
4 - Then Revange of Shinobi
5 - Golden Axe
6 - Thunder Force 3
7 - Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
8 - Doom Troper
9 - Castlevania: Bloodlines
10 - Alien Soldier
11 - Earthworm Jim
12 - Comix Zone
13 - Sunset Raiders
14 - Ghouls´n Ghost
15 - Final Fighter
16 - World of ilusion
17 - Raiden Traid
18 - Top Gear 2
19 - Aladdin

26 - Kid Chamilion
27 - Alex kidd
28 - Victorman
29 - Toejam & Earl
30 - Tartarugas Ninja
lion king:((((((
I still have my SEGA Genesis and it works great for over 2 decades.
Street Fighter 2 Special Champion Edition was a great title. No Doubt! However Super Street Fighter 2 for the Genesis was verrrrry good and in every way better than Champion edition! Sure the SNES had better sound and graphics, but the Sega version is top a top notch port that replicated the arcade gaming experience to a "T" .
samdroidva no
The answer is yes. You're just another youtube idiot. Fuck you and pray I don't come looking for you. Bitch.
ssf2 has an awful color pallete, music not as well arranged than ssf2ce, broken voices due to capcom shitty sound driver. the rom has over 4Mb of sound samples just for the final "ahhhhg" voices, what a waste of space!! capcom didnt improve anything over the sf2ce.
Watching a WCG video is nice but with your accent it gets even nicer! :D
SNES are the initials. Snes has never been a word
then that just means you guys didn't grasp the concept that it is an initialism and not a word.
it was pronounced SNES in Canada as well.
as well as super Nintendo they were interchangeable.
it.was.never.a.word. those.who.act.like.its.a.word.is.simply.using.incorrect.fictional.terminology.
We had one kid where I lived who tried to get S-Nes going... But it didn't catch on. He was a weird kid.
Thank you for putting Ecco the tides of the time on here! That and the first Ecco the dolphin would be my number 1 pick. One of the most beautiful, unique, and artistic games ever. I would also put Shining Force 2 on this list.
If your british, you call it a Mega Drive, not a Genesis. Also, Ecco was shit.
Matthew Hauxwell I never knew that, I thought they were 2 different consoles
Great list, and I absolutely agree about Sonic 2! But I'd add: General Chaos, Pigskin Footbrawl, WWF Royal Rumble, Gain Ground, Golden Axe, and Rocket Knight!
Thanks for the video. Found my old Mega Drive in the loft yesterday and rigged it up. Loving the games you mentioned. I would also add, Cool Spot and Lemmings to the awesome list!
I remember the Sonic games and Road Rash very well, also The Aladdin game to, I loved those games a great deal they were so much fun.
These guys got Street Fighter 2 and Super Street Fighter 2 mixed up.
Joe, what is you accent? I've never heard anyone ever refer to the SNES as a "Snezz." But your love for the Sega is echoed throughout the world I see!
eyy fellow scotty!
great vid thx i might actually get some of these games for my megadrive
Great list, I like how he didn't go with the usual titles (MK II, Shinobi II and III, Golden Axe etc.) that appear in almost every other "best of genesis videos" from other channels.
A very good analysis of the Sega Megadrive/Genesis games. First vid of yours that I have ever watched so didn’t know what to expect but by the time you got to Streets of Rage 2 I knew that you knew your mustard (even though my top ten list would be very different, but that’s just down to taste, you justified your choices well)👍
My only question is why as a Brit did you refer to the console as the Genesis first and Megadrive second? Genuinely just curious?
I am glad you mentioned the Ecco Tides of Time Soundtrack composed by Spencer Nilsen. I listen to it at least once per week.
