- Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Georges St-Pierre is the super fight that everybody would love to watch it. Khabib wanted this fight, GSP wanted this fight and all fans want to see this fight.
The one person who wanted to see this fight the most, was Khabib's father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. It was his dream fight. He wanted to see his son going for the 30-0 record against the legend, Georges St-Pierre.
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov passes away on 3 July 2020 at a clinic in Moscow, at the age of 57. Khabib Nurmagomedov faced Gaethje on 24 October 2020 at UFC 254 and won the fight via technical submission with a triangle choke in the second round to defend and re-unify the UFC Lightweight Championship.
In his post-fight interview, Nurmagomedov announced his retirement from mixed martial arts. He explained that he had promised his mother that he would not continue to fight without his late father, "No way I’m going to come here without my father. It was first time after what happened with my father, when UFC called me about Justin, I talk with my mother three days. She doesn’t want me to go fight without my father but I promised her it was going to be my last fight. If I give my word, I have to follow this. It was my last fight here.”
At the same night GSP was interviewed in Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show and said that he was impressed from Khabib's performance and if Khabib had called him out then he would consider to fight him. He also said that he normally would call Khabib out but he would never dare to do it, out of respect for Khabib losing his father.
For the next 5 months, Dana White gave some time to Khabib to think about his decision to retire and tried to convince him to fight one more time. Khabib said that the only fight that excites him is the GSP fight. GSP did not want to go to 155 and Dana was pushing Khabib to fight Conor McGregor for the second time.
I think if Dana had tried to convince GSP to go to 155 then Khabib would agree to fight one more time by the end of 2021. But, it didn't happen. Dana White wanted more to promote the rematch of Khabib vs McGregor than make the Khabib vs St-Pierre fight. On 19 March 2021, Khabib confirmed that he is officially retired.
For the last couple of weeks, I was working on this video beacuse I was hoping that we could see this fight happening. Unfortunately, it will not happen.

This video felt like a real fight promo. Both fighters...so respectable..so talented. The excitement and anticipation that would build in every fight fan if a date were ever announced would be at a level never seen before. I hope fate has this event in store for all of us because it's a fight that has earned its own right to happen.

Khabib it is a smart decision to retire when it's your time, that will give other fighters a chance to go ahead in life.
You don't have to explain to anyone anything....You will always remain and fighter that will remain inside you.
Winning or losing doesn't matter it matters that how elegantly you fought with respect for your opponent. Taking a beating takes a lot of guts and strength than hitting someone.
Yeah, after Khabib jumped the fence and went after someone on McGreggor's team... The "honorable" BS doesn't wash here... Khabib clearly knows that GSP would spoil his record... If I was Khabib's handler, I would have him using BS excuses to avoid the fight too...
But you'll never know what's the future hold. If it really happen, then it will be the fight of the century.

It might be a closer fight at 155...but GSP would dominate at 170... Khabib is clearly ducking the fight because he knows that GSP can beat him... If I was Khabib's handler, I would have him avoid the fight with BS excuses too...

I wouldn't wanna see this to be honest, it's not a goat fight, and doesn't settle any debate, as they are from two different eras, and being honest, I love gsp, he is my favourite and who I believe is the goat but he surely must be on a downhill slide as he 39 at time of this video, reflexes, speed etc.. would have diminished even a fraction. You can't compare the two really, both have their unreal legacies and have garnered so much respect from the mma community, and set the tone of true mixed martial artist

GSP is the greatest fighter I've ever seen in my life. At the same age Khabib and him would go 3 or 4 rounds. I don't see it going to a decision. I prefer GSP for his striking and I do not believe he is at a disadvantage on the ground. I want to give GSP the nod because I'm bias. Khabib missed weight 2x so that plays into my decision. I also think khabib had a much easier path in the UFC.
