GERMANY: Police demand immediate action - politics fails to ensure citizens' safety!
The Police Union (GdP) is calling on politicians to continue to take clear measures to strengthen internal security despite the uncertainties caused by the failure of the traffic light coalition. GdP chairman Jochen Kopelke stressed to the "Rheinische Post" that there must be no standstill in security issues. Especially in times of political crises, such as the collapse of coalitions or the possibility of new elections, it is crucial that politicians remain able to act.
Kopelke points to important legal projects that must be implemented even in difficult political times. Among other things, he mentions the urgently needed common European asylum system and the Bundestag Police Act. Likewise, the draft law on the minimum storage of IP addresses to combat serious crime must finally be implemented. This draft law is of central importance in order to give the police the necessary tools to combat crime in the digital space.
The demand for politicians to be able to act continuously in security matters shows how important it is that, despite political uncertainty, measures to protect the population are not neglected. For the GdP, one thing is clear: the security of citizens must be guaranteed even in turbulent times.
