first time I heard this song was in the back seat of my big bro car, 2003 after we said our goodbyes to my dad in the hospital, I had it played at his funeral.
Me too. They opened for Saliva in 2003 in my city, and I went just for BB, no one knew them and I got a few weird looks for being so excited and screaming so loud when they were on.
Not my own comment, but great insight of the meaning behind it. He's in a twisted relationship with a woman. She colors his skin and the colors don't blend means she leaves him feeling abused. He says he's going to get her and that there's no place like home. He says no place like home with anger. He wants her to come back home. She obviously left. When he says he's going to get her, he means sexually and physically back. "I've got a southern belle too with ruby red shoes" He's describing how he has another woman now. "Are you sick of it all?" he asks her if she's sick of it because he wants to make her mad and is wondering if she's jealous. He wants her jealous. Revenge is something he's after. When he said "too" this means she also has someone else. "There's a man made of tin with an oil can grin" This is him in the metaphor. He is hollow. The grin is symbolic for his evil intensions. He wants to do her harm. "Can you let me go down? To the end of the road. Can I stand by your side? We can make it alright." He's basically saying he wants to be with her forever. He knows they can make it if she lets him. Then another arrived. "It's a cowardly lion." This is referring back to her new boyfriend. The lyricist thinks he's a coward. He then basically says what he wanted from this world was resolution and for her to wait for him instead of running off with other men. He says he knows she not fair and that he doesn't get it. He doesn't understand why she left him when he loved her and probably did a lot of things for her. He's unhappy in his new relationship and refers to his girlfriend as "straw" pretty much mindless. It's a song about revenge, jealousy, and love. He wants her to take him back.
Tyler Seidel i saw them last summer with disturbed they did not play this but i understand why, they are not from Missouri. but it still was a beautiful show badass and all.
Motionless in White is from PA too! I'm from Tennessee....10 Years, Red, Saliva, & Paramour are all from Tn. The singer from Shinedown Brent Smith is from Tn as well. Tn & Pa alone have produced some fucking awesome bands \m/
Nope, the song is about wizard of Oz, every line tells you about the movie, pls don't say anything of pedo, BB is a great band, don't spill bullshit on their name
I actually worked with a drummer for a band that opened for these guys all the time and got to know them, great band and one of the most talented song writers in a very long time, and one of my favorites, wishing ben the best for a speedy recovery.
Too bad they haven't put out an album this good throughout their entire career. I bought this when it was first released, before anyone had ever heard of them, and everyone I played it for hated it, until they became a huge success, then they changed their tune. I listened to this CD for over a year straight! Couldn't get enough of it!
Listening to a song like this, then going forward and listing to one of their newer songs... It's amazing to see how much they've improved. Which is surprising, because this is pretty damn difficult to improve on.
Just want to say to people who are bitching about the band that music isn't about popularity or who has been around the longest it's about what it inspires you to do and feel. Hate or like the band it's up to you but let people have their freedom!
Having lived in Kansas my whole life this song always has meant something special to me it's like wizard of Oz was set in Kansas this song is called home and Kansas is my home
It is about time to go, about time to go home with Jesus and those who don't want to go you're missing out 7 years in heaven compared to 7 years down here no thanks 👍 Jesus is Lord
My hubby and I voted for them on our local radio station before they got their record deal. Whoever won got the deal and they won. We're from NEPA and they're an amazing band. I remember hearing my wife singing this song years ago. " 'cuz I'm gonna' get you and your little dog too" I was completely baffled of how awesome she made the Wizard of Oz. Luckily, I started listening to Breaking Benjamin thereafter =P
Because I have too many songs for a top 10, I'll give my favorite song from each album SATURATE- Polyamorous WE ARE NOT ALONE- Away PHOBIA- The Diary of Jane DEAR AGONY- I Will Not Bow DARK BEFORE DAWN- Angels Fall
Me: Saturate - FOREVER We Are Not Alone - Simple Design Phobia - Until the End Dear Agony - Give me a Sign (I will not bow was really close here though) Dark Before Dawn - Ashes of Eden Yeah, that pretty much does it. So cold was close on WANA, but I prefer simple design for its heavy/soft awesomeness. Also, phase was close on saturate, but nothing beats forever, NOTHING.
This song is so deep...on the surface it sounds like he's singing about the wizard of oz...but I can also hear spiritual connotations and biblical references as well...the ambiguous interpretations of a single song is beautiful...
It reminds me of the beginning of Creation in the garden of Eden when the devil and ever since then it's just been spiraling closer and closer to the last days especially with all the things that have been happening for the past 2 years covid lockdowns riots wars and rumors of wars especially the conflict going on with Ukraine and Russia right now lot of lies Jesus is coming soon

Best song by breaking Benjamin I should say RED should cover this song this song better be in resident evil rising resident evil 7 and tekken 7 as well.
Seriously, Benjamin Burnley is the only one who can write a song about "the wizard of oz" and make it sound awesome.
He's not really talking about The Wizard of Oz he's just using it as a reference
Abso-fkn-lutely
The metaphor is awesome. Thank You Breaking Benjamin ❤️
Hahaha
Idk how many times I've listened to this without realizing that it's the wizard of oz
The ultimate Dorothy diss track. She's still yet to respond.
Whos dorothy .
@@nazninrahmantuli7078 From the Wizard of Oz
I'm pretty sure it's about a girl that he wants but she keeps getting with assholes, hes just using wizard of oz as a metaphor
I've listened to this song literally probably hundreds if not thousands of times over the last 11 years and it never gets old.

Easily Breaking Benjamin's best song imo. I listened to this song every day when I was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010. This shit got me through.
i bet. this song gives me the feeling to fight on. (honestly most of BB’s songs get me like this🤷🏾♂️)
2020 Run like hell.
That game didn't get its deserved reputation. Very underrated game...
Don't forget to grab your bawls first
I played the living shit out of that game.
This album would have to be my favorite out of all of BB's works... who's with meh?!
Can't decide between Saturate and Phobia.
Donavon Summers this album is definitely very underrated
Donavon Summers I'm with ya
definitely
Yeah I love the seemingly endless vacuous whining this album portrays
This song has amazing melody he sang it perfectly.
This song needs an official video.
2019 still the best of BB

when i saw them in 2004 they opened with this song. it was a miracle! one of the best shows ever.

This song is about Wizard of Oz and it's fucking awesome.

This should've been played at the end of Oz the Great and Powerful and not that Marian Carey bullsh**.
Or at the end of SciFi's Tin Man. That was a great tv movie, and back when SyFy had good movies
