Thanks for sharing, yes great comment " prince championed girls " has anyone else handed a girl a complete finished album and said this is your album with your vocals on it? Well prince did just that more than a dozen times. If the girl got a hit from it, she would get Monterey pay for life, even if she wasn't still around years/decades later.
Excellent observation. Jill Jones visited our studios and performed a small concert a few years back. Another great album that she and Prince worked on.
What is "Monteray pay"? I've never heard that saying before. One thing I'd like to mention is since Prince wrote and produced everything, he also had all the publishing which means all those women he gave albums and songs to didn't get big pay and didn't get wealthy from it. Only Prince did. The main thing all the women got was public recognition and fame. That includes Vanity, Apollonia, Jill Jones, Sheila E, Susannah Melvoin, Mayte, Carmen Electra, Bria Valente, Rosie Gaines, Cat Glover and Tamar. Only Sheila got some money on songs she co-wrote. Possibly. Anything that Prince fully wrote for them, only HE got the $$ royalties. Unfortunate but most likely true. That doesn't take away from the fact all that music Prince wrote for the women and their performance of it was wonderful.
@@djmylesmatisse Definitely boosted a lot of artists recognition. So many great collaborations. Thanks for the comment. Ans Monteray pay is a new one for me to hear.
See you and The Revolution on the 22nd. Got tickets 5 minutes after going on sale!! Lol Made you a handmade gift for the Band. Hope I can get it to ya at the concert 💜💜💜💜
I’d love to have a jam session with Dr Fink, Andre and Jesse. I wanna bring back some real heat 🎶 I have the lyrics written for so many songs 😢 I’d love to just pick their brains
@@musiciansreveal Thanks!! And you are so right. During times those even if you couldn’t make a concert. You always had live albums, the Midnight Special, Soul Train and the Don Kirshner rock concert oh I forgot to mention the King Biscuit flour hour a live concerts on the FM rock station. I ran across a conversation on RUclips and it really made me think. This rapper back in the day made a real good point. He said if it wasn’t for Car manufacturers still putting radios in cars am and fm wouldn’t exist anymore. If I’m correct I there are 2 car manufacturers stop putting FM and AM in their cars. The 70’s on up to the early 80’s were the best days of my life.
@@ppen62 So true. Soul Train changed my musical fiber. And those early 80s were a peak for me. That's when I started radio career. Thanks for the comments.
I saw Prince missing the piano seat trying to stand on top of the piano and falling on the floor. He stayed on the floor acting as if he was dead for a few seconds. He had this clown face too funny. Then kept singing as if nothing happened. This was in Spain Madrid December 98
@@bigpalmorethat was incredible and the dancers too! My favourite part is when he’s done and thanks the audience. He looked so honest mature professional relaxed 😢
It gets interesting where Matt discusses Prince's later work and not liking some of it, I'm in the same camp, I sort of stop at Gold Experience, but for Matt to say that he doesn't even recognize Prince, that would have been very interesting to expand upon. 32:05 Yeah, THAT fake mugshot. The photo put up also appears to be a new AI enhanced that it now doesn't even LOOK like Prince! So annoying to see that. And the original doctored photo is on T-shirts and they think it's real *eyeroll*.
Definitely is bogus-looking photo. Cool to hear the full explanation of the bullhorn episode. The band in the early just sounded like young adults having some harmless fun on the road. I always dig hearing musicians that have worked with Prince talking about how they kept on his music once they left the fold. Thanks to watch and comment Modernaire.
@@musiciansreveal You're welcome! I'm a huge admirer of Dr. Fink, met and chatted briefly at Family Jamm years ago, I got introduced to his mom and dad! Very gracious of Matt and his parents were so nice and cool! I agree, the bullhorn and vomit stories had me laughing, I could totally see it and hear Prince rolling in laughter! Another woa-moment is Matt's archived work-practice tape and video collection, it's like he's got his own Vault! When will we hear and see some of it!? I'm still midway through the video, Thank you for sharing your interview with Matt Fink!
@@Modernaire Thank you for the positive words. And nice you got to meet Dr. Fink and his parents. I think I pulled those tour hijinks our of the recesses of my memory. But funny stories nonetheless.
He mentioned that in other interviews but never specifically named the album. Is it TGE? What’s so different from others? He pretty much sings like in other albums. I thought he was referring to chaos album…or even NPS but they all sound like Prince.
@@Cormac-jd2kx I'll guess Matt is referring to the Rainbow Children and beyond stuff. MAYBE. Be good to get into that with the Doctor at some point and into specifics. Including GEAR talk! Like the story Matt shared about MTV sabotaging the UTCM promotion and premiere. There must be more similar stories, maybe extending into recording studios, labels, etc.
Prince n that speech in AMA 95 he thanked all his band mates and said “The Lovesexy Band” after The Revolution. I’ve seen Matt saying he was a member of the original NPG a few times and it’s funny because I don’t think he was as he left Prince band after the nude tour and the NPG officially as a band originated in 91 with D&Ps album. There was a band right after the Lovesexy band which performed “electric chair” in SNL and then he formed a new band with no official name either that made the Nude Tour. I know Lovesexy made references to the NPG but never officially and Prince clearly referred them as the Lovesexy band.
@@musiciansrevealtrue. Maybe the nude tour band was the first NPG line-up. Could be the same case and process he followed with the Revolution in 1999 album and tour. Officially was presented in the purple rain album but in 1999 album cover he wrote in small letters “the Revolution” although not official on the credits or album reference or tour posters etc just a small unofficial reference. Viva El señor Doctor Fink!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the Doctor Fink love and comment.
Can't wait to hear a new Dr. Fink project!!!!
Me too Thom. Good to hear that. Thanks to watch.
Thanks for your memories 👏🏾& the Prince alumni you guys are great ❤💜❤

I love Dr Fink giving respect to Roger Troutman and dropping facts too! Never the vocoder!!
He was very complimentary toward Roger. Such a talented cat and truly missed.
