    For those of you who believe that the first concern isn't a concern, I think you guys are missing the point. In the concern the mother states that she isn't concerned with his passion for history. She's concerned that his passion for history is alienating him from friends and family. What kind of mother--esp Korean--wouldn't be proud of her studious son? It's GREAT that he has such a passion at his age, but the key is maintaining balance. Also, if his nationalism and grudge against Japan because of Japan-Korean history makes him intolerant to people w/o Korean heritage, he's developed prejudice and bigotry. I'm generalizing right now, but with the Koreans today being infamous for being racist, we should be teaching the younger generations about acceptance and tolerance. Ya feel.

    I came here for AOA, but ended up crying like crazy because of the second concern. I understand how the daughter felt. I used to have that hard time too. I used to be very close to my dad when I was young, but then when I was ten I made him angry. He didn't talk to me for 2 years. I felt bad since my fault was so small and I had always been a good girl. We finally talk and he's really good to me, but somehow it's not the same, and I do regret. Nowadays I've studied about child development and I know how important the parents' love is to complete one child. She must've been very suffered.

    I'm sorry but that little boy is a concern. It's great that he loves history and all, but he should know that you can't blame future generations for its past. It's not right that they didn't correct him on the importance on not being prejudice towards Japanese people. He is also going to miss out on a lot of opportunities if he continues to block everything else but history. Also he can't just go off on a tangent about history to people. Imagine him trying to get a job and doing that. I feel like he is going to have a tough life in Korea especially with the way his mother says people give him looks. He's even brushing off his friends.

    • @kiszka05
      @kiszka05 10 лет назад +24

      But havent you thought that actually his future could be connected with history? Its not that everyone has to work in big companies. Personally i think its just amazing how much he knows at this age and its all because he wants it not his parents. Not every kid has to be the same and play soccer or whatever, he does what he likes and thats the most important. Who knows, maybe he will get the oportunity thanks to his attitude. The only aspect which worries me is his hate to Japan.

    I can totally imagine the pain the girl went through in the second concern. To a daughter, to have your father by your side, physically, psychologically, and emotionally is like having a straight spine that allows you to stand straight. I'm the closest to my father between my siblings, and tbh, after fighting tumour in his brain for two years, he is barely conscious now. Knowing that I cant talk to him and cant lean on him feels like having to stand up with a crooked spine. Now its too late to hope for anything, but its okay I guess. I really do relate to what she is feeling. I hope they fix everything before its too late for them to realise the importance of the latter in their lives. :)

    The second concern had me in tears. I think it struck a cord for me, because my father and I don't talk much either. We speak, but there's no connection. He's more of an acquaintance than a father, and it hurts me every day of my life. I can totally understand how she feels.

    Love this show. The one about the father always wanting to play guitar hits home. My dad was a musician and wrote songs and would always want me to listen to him but not just once or twice he would play the same song over and over again. Love my dad and miss him but at the time it could be so annoying. I was glad to listen to him once or twice. So I understand what the son is going through. It feels like the dad doesn't have any regard for the sons time and there's only so much a person can take even if it was a great musician playing for you.

    The first concern is a concern for the mother because he could be a nuisance to others. It is weird that a random boy chats up about history out of the blue. Also, he has different preferences than the other kids, that's fine but it doesn't seem like he tries to blend in with others at all. The parents are worried that he will be lonely and has no friends. He also rejects a gift from an adult which is rude. This is Korea, a collectivistic culture. It is all understandable in the society.
    Also imo the worse concern is that he takes it too far. He is still young so he has egocentrism in him and if he only reads history without actually thinking about it e.g. How to prevent it, what we can learn from it etc he will develop prejudice and bad stereotype. He even discriminated already by rejecting the snack. It is just a snack. Think about what he will behave towards a Japanese person now, and when he grows up. He will get into all sorts of problems and his love will just pave him to hatred to certain nations. If the parents don't take precaution he will become an extremist and potentially do something bad because of his "patriotism". That is more serious than blending in.

    The second concern is messed up. What I don't understand is why the daughter is still living with her father when she needs to suffer from this on a daily basis. 17 years of being ignored by your father is not something to be brushed off...either you talk it out or not...don't wait 17 years for "the opportunity" to talk about it.

  • @ahfloveyou
    @ahfloveyou 10 лет назад +8

    I respect what Jinho wants to be interested in. Its good that he's so smart and knows so much about his country's history. However,I can see what his mother couldn't express. She doesn't necessarily want him to be...too "modernized"(?) but she just doesn't want him to grow up being so..narrow-minded. (Its 3AM and I don't know the right words to say lol forgive me.) if I were his mother I'd be worried that he doesn't see a globalized future. I cried so much at the father-daughter story and I'm glad she won. Concerns about distant family members make me so sad. Seeing her cry when she heard her father speak to her after 17 years really brought tears to my eyes and I could see that it was too much for her to believe right then. I hope they'll be closer from now on :) As for the guitar playing dad,xD I like him! He's not as impersistent as his son made him out to be in the concern since he was quick to change himself. Plus,he's quite good!^^ Its easy to see that it was kind of a mistake on both of them,the son didn't express his true feelings very well and the dad didn't put in enough effort to observewhat his son really felt. Really interesting episode! AOA♥️

    The child from the first concern is a freakin genius! Why can´t his parents see that?! Rather than constantly putting him and his amazing knowledge down, why not support him and send him to a school for intelligent kids. There he has friends who are at his level and have the same interests.
    I really don´t understand those parents...

    • @12345jli
      @12345jli 10 лет назад +58

      Yeah, I can definitely see where you're coming from, but I also believe the parents are concerned for his social skills and social etiquette, and perhaps even his interest in other subjects. Since he's so in love with history, he hasn't had the opportunity to play with other kids as much as they'd like, or learn the social etiquette that most kids develop at that age, although granted, it should come in time for a bright kid like him, or maybe they even want him to branch out and develop skills and knowledge in other fields instead of just history. So although the parents admittedly.. I think, at least, did go about it the wrong way, their worry is justified to a certain extent. >.

      A child bearing hate over an entire country is not ok imo. Also, put yourself in their shoes, it's like having a jehovah's witness friend who randomly stops strangers to talk about their religion and ideals, it gets old and not everyone is interested.

      ***** U kill me with the Jehovah witness example. hahaha XD
      Im jehova witness but liek eveything u can be extreme liek that. The problem is not the fact that the child wants to explain history to strange, the problem if because when they saw that are not interest or dont wanna know he still speaking. But Im JW and dont stop stranger alltime to talk abou my religions ideals I think this is like the typical stereotypes taht people put in others. And a correct Jw learn to ahve respect if u dont wanna listen u are not going to stalk the person. ^^

    Some peoples are commenting that the first concern is not worth call a concern cause the kid is smart. His mom doesn't mean she wants her kid to look at the phone's screen but to socialize together with other kid since kids always talk about games together. The kid has a very high IQ, YES indeed, but due to his young age, he is still naive and doesn't know what should be and shouldn't be learnt through studyin history. Rejecting anything that is Japan-related, this mindset is already sounds serious enough to be a concern. My country too was invaded by Japanese in World War II but we shouldn't pass on the hatred for generations, hatred is the cause of continuous war. HISTORY IS TO LET US KNOW THE PAST MISTAKES MADE AND NOT TO REPEAT IT, NOT TO FOLLOW IT AND REPEAT ITS MINDSET.
    another thing is cause this kid learnt too much history knowledge that he seems to develop symptoms of being proud

  • @janenguyen7353
    @janenguyen7353 10 лет назад +1

    For the first concern, I really hope that his parents will not try to change his love for history, but instead, they should teach him how to interact to people and have an open minded. He has to talk about history with his family or strangers hours and hours because he has a passion for it, and, sadly, there is no place for him to talk about it. If they put him into a suitable environment, he will be able to grow amazingly.

    The first concern amazes me. That little boy is so into history, and I'm happy that he has a passion for it. The only thing that bothered me was that he was against Japanese, I get that what Japan did to Korea was horrible, but Koreans are not only against Japanese but other cultures and races including Western countries. I'm not saying all Koreans but it's just not right. In fact I wish other countries not just Korea would look beyond color and other aspects and treat people with respect and treat them as equals as well. I just wish they could be more open minded. Hi Salima. Don't generalise all Koreans like that. That's just rude and condescending and honestly, quite disrespectful. Salima AdiAnna Hi there,
      Yes, I agree that people don't take likings to certain people and that's completely fine, I mean, who's perfect right? I'm just a bit uncomfortable when you state 'ALL' Koreans because I am Korean myself and I do not have anything against the Japanese. In fact, I have studied Japanese for 4 years now, meaning I can read, write and speak it so no, not ALL Koreans have a thing against Japanese. I also am working really hard part-time to save up for a trip to Japan as well. I do understand however, you saying that the way 'the show' [Hello Counselor] came off and showing their nationalism was not the most professional and definitely offensive to the Japanese. I was actually quite shocked myself having seen and heard that. However the issue, I'm just raising is just the fact that viewers can easily misjudge and raise negative implications in regards to generalisation.
      Thanks.

    I see a lot of comments about the first concern, and yes, it is quite a concern I will say that. But honestly the second concern really hit home for me as for quite a while me and my dad had a bit of an awkward relationship and I know how hard and frustrating it is to see someone who is supposed to love you, ignore and/or treat other siblings with an obvious advantage and more care. When I first heard the concern I thought 'How is this family still running?' and I can tell you that by the end I was crying and felt really touched and I liked the way the panel handled this concern. And also it's really nice to see concerns like this being presented as there are many cases of this and it is not all that rare. As much as I love the weird and quirky concerns that pop up on this show sometimes it is good to take a step back and look at some of the problems that are happening in 'average' households. Oh yeah, and my advice to both of them would be that you need to realise that the other has feelings. Some days might be tougher than others but as long as you sympathise and understand (or at least try to understand) then you can feel a lot closer to each other. I commend the mother's strength as well. Fighting~
    (Oh wow, sorry for the gigantic paragraph. It just sort of annoyed me that people were focussing mainly on the first concern. Oh and, this is just my opinion so please keyboard warriors don't attack)

    The anti-Japanese mindset of the boy is probably a result of him studying only Korean history. I believe as he grows older and his passion for history extends(hopefully) beyond Korea, he'll learn to see things from a wider perspective. Anyone who is level-headed will be able to see how ridiculous it is to blame Korea's invasion on an entire country. True, the people who made the wrong decisions and gave the commands did fly Japanese flags, but what about the people who didn't approve, like soldiers who had no choice but to follow orders, and innocent Japanese civilians caught up in the battlefield? The boy cried for Kim Gu, but does he know of the many Japanese people who bravely sacrificed themselves to offer protection to victims? The boy may be really smart, and can memorize all the statistics and facts he wants, but his age truly shows in his inability to see the bigger picture.

      Tbh I am really glad they didn't make them hug, because I personally have experienced forced hugs with people that I didn't even have anywhere near that much of a loaded history with, and they made me freak out really badly. So, if that girl was like me, that could have triggered a panic attack, or possibly even damaged their future relationship further if one of them couldn't bring themselves to do it. ;;; It's better to take it one step at a time, I think. Having said that, I'm really glad they came on the show, and their story made me cry like a little baby. I really hope they're doing better now...

    I love the third story. I laugh so hard when the father said his son's girlfriend is not qualified at all as his daughter in-law. If I was there I will told him that Park Choa is his ideal daughter in-law. She has amazing voice and she can play guitar. She is main vocalist on AOA and AOA black band (sub unit).

    I can understand how that kid feels :X I'm a First Nations that lives in Canada and a lot of stuff has happened to my people in the past by the Canadian Government and honestly it pisses me off whenever some one says "It happened a long time ago! Build a bridge and get over it!" And I'm just like "Um no it didn't happen that long ago,!" the last residential school closed in the 90's! My grandparents and their sisters and brothers and aunts and uncles and peers and their moms and dads all went to those horrible schools! But it didn't stop there, my dad went to day school and it was just as bad. There wasn't any rape (as far as I know) but he was stilled hit and had his ears pulled if he spoke our language or anything that pertained to our culture. People who say we should get over it should sit down with an elder from my community and listen to their story. Some of the things I've heard would make you sick.........
    Does that mean I support him hating Japan. Absolutely not, some of my best friends in high school were "white" but I didn't hate them for what people did in the past. But whenever they tried to say we should get over it, best be sure they got a real good talking to!! It's one thing to forgive, it's another thing entirely to heal.

    it upsets me when i see koreans hating on the present generation of japanese... i'm japanese and i think it's disgusting what the previous generations did. but i don't think it's fair that the current generation is still being hated on just for being japanese. I really hope in the future discrimination will stop for everyone, not just japanese people.

    "I'm very brusque..." This is what I don't understand about a lot of these Concerns people. I don't know if it's just an Asian male thing. They are totally aware that they have an area in their personality that is frowned upon but make absolutely NULL effort in trying to solve it or become more amenable. In fact, most of them seem quite proud of these certain qualities they have and have embedded them into their personalities. They spiel some BS about how their parents acted thus as if that's sole reason for continuing this abhorrent behavior. I remember it was the same with the man who forced his family to shop with him for sports clothing.

    the little boy is really such a clever youngster !! he is so cultivated and his talent should be supported and well directed so he could excell !! certainly since i've watched and know a bit about the horrible things Japan did in Korea and the impacts that Korea is still going through i totally understand how prickly it is this subject yet for sure he needs to learn that you shouldn't hate on Japan and the whole Japanese just becoz of governmental greed over power .. we suffered a lot all the countries who went through occupation in TUNISIA where i live we fought for 75 years to get France out of our countries many fighters were killed many innocent people were sacrificed and had to suffer yet we are on good terms with french people even many of Tunisians married French and so it goes .. yet we shouldn't forget our history and it is really a shame that a lot of young people are so neglectful about the past who made them live in the present they are in now .. HISTORY SHOULD BE KEPT IN HEART !! a country with no history with no future like he said

    I can't believe the guests said that the first concern is not a concern, he hates Japan and Japanese people and they say that this is not a concern, but they will go (AOA) to Japan and make money from Japanese people, and the 2nd concern, the father feels the guilt for hurting her leg and he is mad at her because he feels the guilt, he is just selfish. I can't believe that the third concern had more votes then the first one.

    Extremamente nacionalista, a mãe tem razão em estar preocupada, a tolerância é o que nos faz grandes, a história já nos mostrou o quão ruim é subjugar e ser subjugado por outros povos, isso não deve passar para o relacionamento comum do dia a dia.
