I remember reading about how they put the drums in a different area of the room, at LeStudio, for this album. This track really highlights the room's ambience a lot more than the official album mix does.
A Human Battleship. yes, every strike of stick or kick pedal had that level of authority, power, and purpose. When I hear thunder overhead, that's Neil and Bonzo up there.
Still a legend. This is some of the most tastefully intricate drumming where every [what's the drum equivalent of note?] counts. Nothing is out of place. This is Peart on point.
I appreciate his work for doing what fits for every song. He didn’t overdo it and he didn’t under do it. His drumming was balanced for every song. A place for everything and everything in its place.
Great track! What I like about this version is that you can clearly hear the drums way over other instruments and vocals and, as mentioned in other comments, you can apreciate the musicallity of Neil Peart's drumming.
Oh some nice bits added to the original I like them! You were hitting the ride right too. Good stuff man! Very please. Josh Steffens version is pretty dope too
I don't care what anyone says but Neils Great drumming died in the eighties. When he met Freddie Gruber he sounded like any other drummer for the most part.
I agree with you 100%. Neil’s ( and, btw, Weckl’s) magic died when they met and incorporated Grubber’s stupid philosophy and techniques to their drum playing. You are spot on.
The snare-snare/crash-fill at 4:09 has been chefskiss in my life since this tune came out. One of my favorite to (ahem) play for 40+ years.
just spent 5 min looping it lol the tone! the closing solo is one of my favs
0:45 for me
He has always been my drumming hero, since childhood…….
It sounds like a heart beat of a great man. Great feel for the drums.
Omg yes thank you! One of my favorite songs of all time. The drumming! The lyrics! Everything about this song has soul and gets me through adversity!
I totally agree..... I feel the same way.... There is something very deep and very special here ... In every way...
@@paulluongo2756 Rush is a TREASURE! 😁
Also, at the time, critics wrote off Rush, but the socioeconomic theme in the lyrics, is so absolutely true in 2013 as it was in the early 1980’s
The precision is outstanding
The outro with the upbeat on the China is nuts. But just another day at the office for the Professor.
This is art ..

The toms sound amazing

every hit counts ;) that's called consistency, and it's a skill many drummers haven't mastered
The drum equivalent of note is note
It’s still every note counts.
@@juanignacioquiroga4379 Noted... thanks.
The shit he did on the kick alone is over the top! You will be missed dearly.

You learn and play the song... then hear this... dang Neil...
@phylodude: “Darn Ghost Notes”😂
Since the tragic loss of NP, Mark Zonder now sits in rarefied air.
Mark Zonder has ALWAYS being great.
The best drummer.
Jan 7th. My birthday.. bitter sweet...rock on Rush fan's. Go Yankees... semper fi
Holy SH_T! I had no idea all this incredible drumming was there - shame it gets lost in the mix.
I would love to hear 2112 Overture Isolated drums.
Even my missus likes this , brilliant , what else can you say !
you picked a good one
Oh some nice bits added to the original I like them! You were hitting the ride right too. Good stuff man! Very please. Josh Steffens version is pretty dope too
The only song with Neil’s voice too!!
Dont forget necromancer, cygnus x-1, chain lightning, etc
@@mattrussell8654 the end of chain lightning is alex's voice slowed down as i read in an interview somewhere
Finale, as well, of course.
@@mattrussell8654well now don't I look stupid!!! 😮
@@sethcashman1011oh yeah I should have known better about Finale. Jesus I must have been multitasking big time when I wrote that comment 🤦♂️
Thank you for this
foda... muito foda! keep practicing....
The snare sounds really great here, but I don't know about the bass drum.

When you hear just the drums and hear all the details of Neil, you realize that all the drummers on youtube are destroyed. 🇲🇽
I was thinking the same, though this one is obviously under production, still amazing
Nah.
@@PabloJ1968 ..yah
I also preferred Rush’s earlier work…………..
It's a shame all those ghost notes get lost in the album mix.
How do you isolate it like this?
This is from the Rock Band multitracks.
I think the guitar should be playing more half and whole notes....what do U say ? !!!
wtf????
This is a live version and not the one from the studio recording
This is not Neil Peart, but a close approximation.
It is Peart though, this is straight from the original multitracks.
I don't care what anyone says but Neils Great drumming died in the eighties. When he met Freddie Gruber he sounded like any other drummer for the most part.
Agree. Gruber was not good for Neils drumming
Ridiculous!

No,Neil really shone on TFE 🥁🔉🔊🔊 And there on after 🥁🔉🔊👍
I be prefer his pre-Freddie feel
