  • It's rare to find a Thai restaurant that doesn't serve tom yum soup...but it's even more rare to find one that serves tom yum FISH soup! This is a popular variation of tom yum soup in Thailand, which is a country that eats a lot of fish in general, but for some reason I haven't seen it served anywhere in North America. That ocean flavour of the fish broth goes incredibly well with the tart lime juice and all the citrusy herbs that are iconic of tom yum. It's one of the most comforting yet refreshing soups to have any time of year!

    HELLO LOVELY VIEWERS! Important Note:
    If you have questions about this recipe, you can post it here for the community to answer. But if you want to ask me, please get in touch via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or my website (all links are in the description above). If you leave questions in the comments I may not see them due to the large volume of comments I receive across the hundreds of videos on this channel.

    I made this a few nights ago! I was able to get a fish head and that added tons of flavor to my soup. The head has a lot of tender meat. I had used fresh catfish filets and added some of my favorite stewing vegetables in addition to yours. This recipe is definitely a winner and now my favorite way to eat tom yum 🐟🌶😋

    • @AdamHotThaiKitchen
      @AdamHotThaiKitchen 7 лет назад

      Hey cHemon - and yes we're a little surprised ourselves from the bad rap that Tilapia is getting, and that might be because we are in Canada where the issues that seem to surround it are a bit of a non-issue (our fish farms are different for instance from those in China). Great article here from Univ. of Calif. Berkeley on how the details and how some of the "tilapia is bad" stories got started www.berkeleywellness.com/healthy-eating/food/food-safety/article/truth-about-tilapia

    I love Lemongrass so much that I had to plant some here in my Yard in Florida. It grows like a weed in a corner of my yard all year round lol. I am sure I will love this soup, need to give it a go. That Butane burner that you use, do you find it hot enough to work stir fry recipes with out having to wait too long in between to add more ingredients. The one I have seems to be too weak and I have to wait a long time or it cools too much. It is a much weaker version than yours though. I need a good strong portable burner for my cooking studio. Thanks so much as always for the great content.

    • @AdamHotThaiKitchen
      @AdamHotThaiKitchen 7 лет назад +4

      Heya! I think the burner that we use could heat my house :) ... it's far more powerful than the gas stove I have in the back ... so maybe get an Iwatani? (Check out Tools on the web site.)
