Thats kinda weird if you think about it because satoshi and satoko are the reasom mion created the club in the first place, satoshi and satoko are somewhat the founders of the club indirectly
It was always weird for me to see Higurashi Kai had better animation and slightly better screenplay than the first season. Usually second seasons don't improve that much.

Anyways it takes place on this island owned by a rich family and a witch Beatrice commits murders with her magic and then resurrects them. The way to kill a witch is to deny their existance and the protagonst has to try to come up with an explanation as to how her murders could have been done by one of the humans. Anyways there is another witch called Bernkastel who looks like an older version of Rika, and is made from the collaboration of all the pain and suffering Rika endured throughout Higurashi. She seems just stoic at first but later.... yeah. You may like it since many of the witches are batshit insane.
Listen to shion's character songs that were released with the dear you songs. First sorayume, then sora no mukou, then confession and finally thanks. They are about shion coping after this episode. Thanks says what happens to satoshi about two years after this episode.

Even in the last ova he wasn't even seen (he was mentioned but never seen.) *plus it wasn't much* (Satoko thought that Satoshi saved her but it turned out to be Keichii) In the last ova Rika was the main focal point of the episode because she was "infected" with a new *disease.* And the disease was spreading throughout the village and everyone was getting paranoid. The doctor was preoccupied with finding a cure for this current disease. So we don't even know if he ever went back to work on curing Satoshi. Still Seeing that there was no cure, the doctor even killed himself. So there was no hope of Satoshi surviving after this. Sorry if I made this even more sad. The ova is called "Higurashi no naku koro ni Kaku"
Why haven't the writers ever told us what's happening with Satoshi? Either cure him so he can be with everyone else or have him die so everyone can once they've mourned his death move on with their lives. Don't leave his fate in limbo like that, I hate it when writers leave the fates of characters in any fictional setting in limbo.
I appreciate all the characters, but I really wanted Satoshi to be more than just a plot device for character development Still amazing franchise though!
It's never confirmed :( But since the whole theme of Matsuribayashi Hen is to have hope and believe as hard as you can so that your strong will can make even the most unlikely of events happen, we shouldn't give up on hoping that Irie makes that cure, saves Satoshi and reunites him with Satoko and Shion :) ... Is what I would say if Higurashi Gou didn't just happen
