It is obvious when songs feel authentic, and the only way to make an authentic song that is true to yourself is capturing your emotions which may be an uncomfortable process at first. that will translate to more concrete ideas, better performances, finding better sounds, ect. dont get too caught up in emulating another artists sound although that is the start to building the toolkit to express your authentic self. Dont make music to fulfill others expectations, make music to express yourself. and most importantly, never force it. We dont need to write something every day, when life puts us into a headspace that is just right, the song will come naturally. Some days I have been frustrated that I cant come up with anything good, trying everything only to give up. Then, a week later, ill pick up the guitar because I NEED to, in order to let something out, and something beautiful will naturally present itself to me in that moment. We are constantly changing and evolving and that isnt a process we can speed up. Its a normal progression of our journey unfolding before us. It will come eventually, and you must believe in yourself and trust that process. Be grateful of how far you have come, and not worry about how far you have left to go, otherwise you will never feel like you are good enough. stop comparing yourself to other artists, and focus on expressing YOU.
