I did not capture the rest of the process on the video. There are some photo albums that show the process: Bootmaking: goo.gl/photos/kqSsk7sYTFPEiHtR9 Cowboy boots for Nat: goo.gl/photos/k9vGUuCyPBjvJ9jR6 Cowboy boots - crash course: goo.gl/photos/U47zkfcqiDdUrf188
Great videos! I have been looking into boot making and this is the perfect set of videos to introduce a person to the concept and methods used. Is there anyway you can create a list of the tools you had used to make these boots? And I am looking through your videos but I do not see a part 4. Is there more to this series? Thanks again for the great videos.
ReverendJG I recently was on training in Mexico, made a pair of cowboy boots and documented the whole process in photos and videos. You can see the photo log here: goo.gl/photos/kqSsk7sYTFPEiHtR9 Videos will take some time to edit, there are 4x64GB cards fully loaded...
It depends on the maker, they may have a waiting list. The normal time for a professional is about a week or less, but all depends when they can start. I made my boots in 2 weeks.
Hi Rudy, I use Dual-88 or Barge contact cement. They both are neoprene based and should be used under a ventilation. There are water based cements from Renia, but I haven't used them.
Your clicking knife, who makes it and where do I go to get one? I have tried a bunch of different knives and still not satisfied. I notice it has disposable blades. Thanks for the ride.
Thanks. appreciate it. I have only made shoes (5 pair) I'm going to attempt a high lace up boot. I suppose the measurement for the tube (?) is that of the tops then tapered to fit the ankle - or is it the short heel measurement? Or do I finish the tops to equal the short heel measurement. All the videos I have watched seem to leave out this critical junction between top of working last and leg. Boot making is hard!
Shoe making is hard! :) Because you need to know how to tape the last, make the mean form, make the templates... much harder than boots, seriously. For boots you need 1) a good last and 2) decision either you calculate your templates or go with the approximations. And so there are 2 schools and most of cowboy bootmakers approximate based on the DW Frommer method. Search for "Bootmaking Forum" and "The Official Boot Making Forum" on FB - these 2 groups have professionals that can answer on all your questions.
Excellent! Thank you so much. I admit, two years ago - too cheap to buy - I made my own lasts. Recently I bought good plastic lasts. The new professionally made lasts prove my own! - I got the fundamentals right. Now to make boots! Please keep posting videos. Yours, granted, make one dizzy...but in a good way.
I have a flatbed Juki 8700 with a roller foot, and it works fine. The post machine I think is Typical, its not mine - I used it at my teacher's workshop.
+Air Handler, we do not use that in the cowboy boot. It would prevent the insole taking the form of your foot, which is the most important for the comfortable footwear.
want to see the finished boots !
I was in awe at your sewing skills. I sew but....heck I would not go as far as 4 inches without having to stop constantly for fear I would screw up.
I stop too... just cut out the stops from the video to make the video go faster :)
Many thanks for sharing these videos with us! But, I couldn't find the other parts of the cowboy boot.
Boy you weren't kidding... I feel exhausted after watching it beginning to end...
You just saved on a visit to Disneyland :)
Beautiful
I love your videos and the music!
Amazing video! Eugene, could you post one where you last the tops to the sole?
Is there a part 4 to show the finished product? Looked great but need to see the finished work!

Hi Matt, no part 4 yet, maybe one day... was busy with other projects. Though I'm planning to make and videotape another pair of boots this year.
Yes part 4 please on how it is assembled all together. Thanks for sharing it. It was indeed a fun roller coaster
Eugene, I thoroughly enjoyed your videos. When will the rest of the parts be posted? I would like to see how you complete a pair of boots. Thanks!

Amazing, thanks.
Hi would you kindly let me know what leather stiffener you used?
NICE JOB... BELLEZA
i don't know where you work but i wish i can have a pair of boots made by you, amazing
Hi Joe, it is my hobby, not a business. Let me know where are you located, I may refer you to a local bootmaker.
unfortunately i don't live in usa but if u know some company can do this on line please keep me update
Thats why I asked for your location, most bootmakers will not trust a client to take self-measurements...
ok i understand, what is the normal time processing to realizing a pair of boots?
It depends on the maker, they may have a waiting list. The normal time for a professional is about a week or less, but all depends when they can start. I made my boots in 2 weeks.
Do you need 2 different cow hides for a pair of boots? Or yiu just need 1 full hide to make 1 pair?
What name brand of contact cement glue do you use? I'm struggling trying to find a very good one to resole my boots.
Hi Rudy, I use Dual-88 or Barge contact cement. They both are neoprene based and should be used under a ventilation. There are water based cements from Renia, but I haven't used them.
It's duall 88 I believe..
Satisfied when you removing the glue
i love your vídeo thanks for sharing

Jay Shriver, It is a regular utility knife with Olfa blades. If you can, find black Olfa blades for your knife size, they are stronger and sharper.
Thanks. appreciate it.

You're welcome! And yes, I learned from this video that fast is not all ways good ...
Hi Eugene What post machine do you use? Your sewing is great by the way. Love the vids.

you are amazing!!
How do you make insole to put inside the boot?
+Air Handler The insole is one of the main parts of the boot. You build the boot around it
Eugene Pik
I mean the soft foam insole.
+Air Handler, we do not use that in the cowboy boot. It would prevent the insole taking the form of your foot, which is the most important for the comfortable footwear.
do you know where i can find any decent brown boots for 120.00$
